    Somewhere in Kansas, an elderly widow opens a forgotten guitar case from a dusty closet to expose a mint 59’ Sunburst.
    Joe Bonamassa, sound asleep, bolts upright in bed.

    • @rw2806
      @rw2806 4 года назад +11

      I was a "Strat guy" exclusively for 17 years straight. I've played every level of the things from MIM to vintage. I bought my first LP a year, or 2 ago. It was a new (at the time) custom shop. Then I bought a few more, then my first Tele (a custom shop), then my first 335 (a custom shop), and now I don't even own a Strat. I went straight for custom shop models to understand what the pinnacle of that style guitar was like without investing in vintage pieces out of the gate. Nothing wrong with a Strat, but you'd be surprised as to what type of expression you can get out of different guitars that a Strat just can't touch.

    • @Dagger_323
      @Dagger_323 4 года назад +6

      @@rw2806 Totally agree. Personally I find that a Gibson (particularly Custom Shop guitars with correct vintage-era tone) can produce more nuance than Fenders can across the board. I actually find Strats to be some of the least versatile guitars around. Their sound works and works well for what they do, but they always just sound like what they are. Teles and especially Les Pauls can blend better in mixes and can sit in the back when they need to. A Strat always stands out like a sore thumb and it's blatant whenever someone is playing one. I've heard Teles sound like 'Bursts and vice versa depending on how they're being played and what they're being run into. A Strat always just sounds like a Strat. That's fine if that's the only sound someones wants. Personally I'll take a good LP any day.

    • @chuckyz2
      @chuckyz2 4 года назад +1

      @@Dagger_323 A good Strat belongs in the herd. They are amazing. Same for Telecasters and Les Pauls. Finding ones with mojo in every class... not so easy and finding a LP that sounds like like a Burst... almost impossible. But close is good enough. They all sparkle in their way and when you get a good one of any of them, you run less gain because the sound clean is so amazing.

      Yeah, something is up...and that is an understatement. There are way too many floating around. I was listening to a podcast with Kirk Hammett on it a few months ago (I believe it was Dean Delray's, 'Let there be Talk' show) and he was saying that there is a non-playing collector somewhere out there that owns over 100 of these (I can't remember the number..but it was staggering..especially when you consider the price tag on these and the small # produced). So if one guy owns a huge number...and then there are all of the ones that are owned by all of these people selling or showing them off online, where are all of these others coming from? hehe. When these were originally purchased in 59/early 60's, the buyers did not know that these were going to be worth 100's of thousands of dollars 60 years later...so they played them. There are wayyyy too any in great shape. People played them. Even when they were new, these were not cheap guitars. It seems like the guitar world has lost all of its morals.

    Good video. Interesting these old standards look exactly like a cheaper new Gibson Les Paul classic. I think this guitar sounds great in the video... but about on par with any new Gibson Les Paul studio through standard. A lot of people think just because something is vintage it sounds better... which isn't always the case when you play them in person. For instance I have a vintage PRS custom 24 at my house and a new one. The new one sounds significantly better... probably because of the newer pickups... but I definitely appreciate vintage stuff and nostalgia that goes with them. And the simplicity of the older designs and finishes.

    doch moralisch sehe ich schon eine gewisse Verantwortung
    ab und an Takes zu organisieren wo ausgewiesene Könner die Möglichkeiten so eines Instrumendes aufzeigen können
    damit möchte ich die Fähigkeiten den Herrn der hier vorführt in keinem Falle schmälern ...im Gegenteil
    ...er zeigt ja auf welches Potential die Gitarre hat ...
    und genau dies in vielfäliger Form auch zu hören wäre bei so einer Gitarre angebracht ...
    was den Wert dieser Gitarre sicher nicht negativ beeinflussen würde

      Hello Andy I have a 2018 historic 1959 Les Paul lemon burst finish it’s got a lot of clarity in the pick ups when you roll back the volume but it’s got a lot of punch and rock out too !!!
