Tops like that are so much more attractive to me than these super duper contrasting flame tops you see a bunch today. I’ve seen some that look way to uniform and zebra like, I think it’s silly. That burst he’s holding is BEAUTIFUL.
Yeah there are only a few of us that prefer the more subdued flame top. I really do not care for the ones that have that over the top ultra symmetrical striping(pin striping is what it is called?) Some look like they were designed by a computer program. I actually prefer flames that look more quilted. Real wide and not real uniform. More random
All the exaggerated flame tops nowadays has made me realize how much I actually prefer a nice plain-wood top. You can get any cheap $200 guitar with a flame veneer, so it just looks gaudy to me now.
that ES in the end jam..woza..it sounds thick as hell!! the whole video is an amazing outake on the Gibson Les Paul 59 and really showcasing the best of the best!
Epic, EPIC tone! Intro illustrates why they were/are the Bomb! Magnatone really shines with that guitar. “That” sound is synonymous with so much music that I LOVE, that I can’t help but WANT it! Really hard to nail that sound? Ah, dreams........😎
I picked up a 2012 Les Paul (a model they call the Traditional Pro 2) for around $1.5K a couple years ago, and it makes all those sounds I've been trying to achieve for years with "cheaper" guitars. There's something about a Les Paul that is really hard to capture with anything else. I had an LP Studio for many decades, but it never sounded like my LP, not even close.
It really would be senseless to sell one at this point . They are worth more than money. I wouldn't even trade one for gold . I don't think anyone can manipulate its value at this point ! I would just make sure I had sensible offspring to pass it to (with a legally binding agreement ) ,or have it put in a special vault that was bomb proof and war proof with a 1000 year time lock .
I have to say you make that 59 really sound great. It takes a excellent guitarest to really make an instrument of that caliber sound that good. All of you guys stay safe and well. Signed John Zepbass. Munster, Indiana.
I prefer that cover to the old GNR version... sounds like a cross between The Black Crowes and GNR.... Nice! These new videos are outstanding... great job CME!
According to CME, their exclusive custom pickups are wounded to imitate this particular burst, which is now stored in the display case at the center of the store. When I got my lp custom from them, I was told that they don't want to sell it, because it adds more sophistication to the shop, as well as helping them get better guitars.
What people need to understand about these bursts is that the capacitors change over time. They're capacitance increases, thereby making them sound darker. Look at vintage strats. They sound darker as well. People like Luxe Radio are making recreations of the old Sprague capacitors exactly to the same specs and manufacturing process they used to, and I'd like to see some of the bursts and other vintage guitars get them. That way, we can truly hear how they were meant to be heard, and how they WERE heard, back in the 50s. So people should not blame the guitar for it sounding too dark! One quick capacitor change could make it shine, cause each one of these, manufacturing wise, is solid GOLD
They'd take off a ton off the value if they re-fretted it. That's up to the buyer to do if they want. Unfortunately, it'll probably go into a collection and never be played again. That's the real shame with these genuine originals.
@@Arrgh yes. And 1500 accounts for all the bursts combined. Only 600 something were 59's. Many of which have never been identified. But somehow people buy and sell them!
I really like when you are together playing, your all masked up and practicing social distancing. Way to cool and rock on with your bad self's... P.S. the faded burst was my favorite.
I love this song written by Guns & Roses, almost as good as Freebird written by The Backstreet Boys. Certainly up there with Shania Twains "Master Of Puppets"
good question that... i can only assume the bots and record companies stooges have lost their ability to click their 'NO' button due to being overwhelmed by the majesty of the Burst. Understandable :-)
YOU CAN JUST LOOK AT THE WOOD AND TELL ITS SPECIAL....IM SORRY, I HAVENT SEEN A GIBSON REISSUE COME CLOSE TO THAT LUSH LOOK OF THE WOOD IT ALMOST LOOKS 3D....THE NEWER ONES WITH FLAMES ALMOST LOOK CREATED....SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT THE OLD ONES...THE OLD WOOD THEY USED EVIDENTALLY WAS VERY RARE..
I'm devastated that I didn't win that jazzmaster with the 12 string neck during the giveaway at the end of last year :( I had over 100 entries and had myself convinced I'd win something lol. Nice video dudes
Damn, how many burst is around floating, saying its rare? Hmmmm...doesnt make sense. Norman rare guitar feature a lots of the burst, bonamasa have a lots, not to say how many piece already been auction. Ive known in asia lot of rich collector have this in their collection. Not including collectors from europe, middle east, america n lots of artist playing this thing n who own since new n never sell. Some people saying its around 500pcs were made is bullshit. I agree on ur words its around 1000+ at least but i belive 2000+ or more. It will be more n more floting around that we c see in the future on this youtube plateform. Btw its a Cool guitar
Guitar snobbery at the very highest level right here. It's a setup worthy only for the most cork sniffery of cork sniffers. 😄 I'd love me a Magnatone though. 👍🏻
come on, i'm no burst expert but when your based in the windy city and talking burst players your contractually obligated to mention mike bloomfield , i am sure of it ....

Not only an incredible guitar, but a really awesome demo format as well. Everyone, including the mix, sounds great.

That LP is BEAUTIFUL. That is the colour top I love ❤️

Every song Nathaniel plays on this thing sounds 110% tonally accurate ! Insane !!!

Incredible demo. Amazing guitars. Thanks for the video and thanks for being responsible and masking up.
Thank you for doing this!! It's so incredible to hear these amazing vintage instruments. I think a 59 will be priceless one day. So cool!!

Beautiful color, and the flame is very subtle. It almost looks like a '58.
That's my favourite video on youtube
I think Paul McCartney might want to have a word with you guys. GnR hahahaha
Call me the Breeze?
@Milan Joseph nobody cares..
Watching this in October 2024. Man, going through COVID was such a bizarre time. Here’s to better times. Cheers. 🥃
That Charlie Parker jazz tone on that is incredible. I can't get my R0 neck position to sound like that.

This instance has a beautiful mellow sound. I love it =)

I think that 335 sounds better than that Les Paul, moot point since there's no way I could afford either but if I won the lottery, I'm taking the 335.
it doesn't, it's just EQed differently, probably different pedals/amp too
Heard Joe B call a 335 a Burst killer several times. I personally think a 335 does everything a les paul does and then some.
It’s pretty well known that 335’s hold their own and sometimes sound better than Les Paul’s. The super heavy Les Paul’s usually sound the worst.
Nice Jam Session!! Great review of the 59' burst, cheers.
Great video, as always. Can’t wait for the SG one(s)!! 🤘🏻
This man has some nice jazz chops.
awesome guitars but all the credit to such an amazing player.
Presentation on point 🏄

Splendid!!!

That, this amazing
Gorgeous
Man I'd love to record drums in that room, so much room in those sounds to be creative in post
Heck yeah!
🤘🤘
Wow!!
Sounds like it’s on the warmer end. I normally like LPs w more bite, but this one is an exception. Fairly dark but not muddy at all
Beautiful guitar 🤩
please do a video on that beautiful 59 335. is that a vintage one or a reissue?

But definitely not worth the money. Total rip!
Question to Chicago Music Exchange; is there anything Nathaniel Murphy can't play and is he from Yorkshire or Lancashire?
love the zz top jam!
I feel like it says a lot they used the magnatone varsity to go with a 59 les Paul and a Klon... pretty prestigious pieces there
Amazing guitars. But that 335 deserves a video just for it. At least one hour...
There are exactly 0.0374% of the frets left on that thing, and it still sounds incredible! Add another on to the ‘ole spank bank!!

Only 1500 made and we get to see a newly discovered one on RUclips everyday!
1500 made, but only 3000 survived to this day... )))

Bad Ass.. The first song that came to mind was Call Me The Breeze
My mum said when he was playing call me the breeze that was some damn fine pickin but a bit loud. I did have it loud tbh

HA HA HA HA!!! Some really good song writing there!
It’s the GnR arrangement…
pardon my asking - but with playing so many amazing songs in every video, how have you guys not gotten any copyright strikes?
good question that... i can only assume the bots and record companies stooges have lost their ability to click their 'NO' button due to being overwhelmed by the majesty of the Burst. Understandable :-)
Maybe the sale of this guitar might just about cover their loss in RUclips revenue?
The Les Paul's nice, but that 335 is the real star of the show.

Cool it, Rick.

George Orwell meets Rockn Roll.WTF.

ape lp
Look at these 2 wearing a face diaper. Real men here.

Not all 1958,59,60 les Paul standards sound good.
"Live and let die" by Guns N' Roses 😂😂😂
Nothing says rock n roll like 3 guys wearing masks
Ah my eastman sb59 sounds better with the Duncan's.
Nice playing, and mask virtue signal!
Ugh...the masks..
"Sounds like Birdshit" - Willie Brown
Why does everyone call it the most collectible guitar in the world when it's clearly not? Ever heard of the '58 Flying Vs and Explorers for example?
"Live and Let Die" was by Paul McCartney and Wings.... At least say the GnR is a Cover of that song!!!! JESUS
Really 🚬😷 💨💨 are you guys the mask band 😂😂
But you're zeppelinbarnatra
Can't hear the music just cos of them masks what happened to people at that time 😂
Definitely not the best sounding burst I’ve heard
It probably needs a capacitor change. But nobody will do it cause they're stupid
Its that Klon man, just takes so much away from those PAFs
Nice cheap little rig!
Awful tone. Great video. Enjoyed it thanks!
It's not the guitar's fault! Guarantee that needs a new capacitor, maaybe a different mic, but I doubt that
GNR hahahahahahahahaah
The ES 335 cuts through the mix way better. Not sure it says more about the guitars or the as-per-usual mediocre sound engineering in these CME videos
