Castlevania Fans: Kuck Fonami for Killing of My Favortie Protagonists, in favor of 2 Bratty Animé Kids.
Essentially, the ending of Castlevania: Bloodlines is akin to when you complete the Pokedex in a Pokemon. Just a simple Congratulations.
Sometimes the journey is the reward
Isn't that the case with a lot of older video games?
Just like getting to the end of Neon Genesis Evangelion...
@@TheArceusftw True. For example, SMB 1 was a kiss on the cheek, SMB 2 you woke up, SMB 3 was a tech demo and Super Mario World you walk back to Yoshi's house XD
At least in later pokemon games you get a minor but relatively good boost to your chances of getting shinies
Unless you're playing on the European version, in which Pikasprey Yellow is instead Pikasprey Blue because... wait, that's your gameplay channel

"Dracula's second form" is actually Elizabeth's lackey, Drolta Tzuentes, buying time while Dracula powers up
You actually can know about the 5 73 sound test thing, as "5 7 3" is "ko na mi"" They use it in several things, including the name of their arcade hardware.
People should watch these as much as the Pokémon ones.
Absolutely!
No one ever mentions another move that Eric can do with the spear. He can spin it 180 degrees from left to right and vice versa. "Castlevania: Bloodlines" is an excellent entry in the long running series. The music is always fantastic.
I love that the secret code was 05 and 073.
I am not sure if it has been said before but the digits "573" can be read out as "go, na, mi" in japanese. This number has been used by konami in a number of their games, for example highscore placeholder scores.
I have not yet realized there might be some secret codes associated with this number.
Finishing with 5730 life points in some yugioh games like tag force and even duel links should give you a "konami bonus".
very similar to Namco's iconic number, 765, which is used in Pac-Man for the high score and The Idolm@ster as the name of the production studio
i think this is the most underrated in the series, my favorite part is the changing locations where it feels like your on an adventure and using real life buildings like the leaning tower, and the setting of WW1 was cool too even if it it could have gone farther with it. another thing is the graphics, im a sucker for 16 bit graphics and the game does a great job showing it off.Overall great game.
Beyond underrated due to it being the ONLY Castlevania game on the Genesis and not being released in any other platform.
Exceptionally underrated because Eric Lecarde is one of the coolest motherfuckers of the entire franchise.
@Tayebz Tayebz :3 Plus, Eric is one of few protagonists in the franchise to have repeat appearances, just in a slightly different way

The most neglected ones are the 3d metroidvania ones on ps2 - Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness. Bland visuals aside, I felt these games were solid and translated the formula into 3d really well. I'd love a sequel with proper modern graphics
Oh Konami, seemingly never interested in making HD collections for old Castlevania games. And they wonder why people pirate their games.
Castlevania Requiem?
@@ArcadianLegend Requiem is pretty mediocre
@@SuxMenner it's still a HD collection for old Castlevania games tho.
The real issue with this one is that it's the same Castlevania games that get rereleased over and over again: Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood/Dracula X. They don't bother with other classic games much.
Kinda weird they didn't add the PSP remake of Rondo and the Saturn version of Symphony, sad stuff
Should pirate all old game releases anyway, fuck paying for 20-30 year old games which is why I do not support Nintendo.
Glad your first vid of 2019 was a Castlevania one!
9:13 Then why didn't they Replace the Red Skeletons with Blue Ones?
Bloodlines is still one of the finest Castlevanias ever made.
And that music...oh sooooo goooood!
This was also the first Castlevania game to have Michiru Yamane as it's composer.
Oh boy! It's an upload from my favorite Castlevania channel! Time to see this get no views since it isn't Pokemon.
I thought Eric Lecarde could do a spin attack with his staff going left to right and back again, it was super helpful.
WHAT?! IN BLOODLINES YOU CAN GRAB ONTO CEILINGS WITH THE WHIP?! NANI?!
A character based on Elizabeth Bathery was one of the Main Antagonists of the animated movie Hellboy: Blood and Iron. It's also heavy on the horror and is split in focus between Hellboy and Broom.
Great work! I love these types of retrospective/reviews for Castlevania. Been playing these since I was a little kid, and for a new fan, you didn’t miss a beat. I’m very happy to see another fan join the club.
This was my first Castlevania game, and probably my favorite. Soooo glad to see you cover it, and in such depth.
Fantastic video dude.
Something to note about death punishment in this game: Playing on easy will cut your crystal count in half rather than deplete it outright. Though playing on easy also skips several minibosses and cuts Bathory's second form from the bossfights, which you may or may not want to do.
As always, amazing content dude
Im always happy when you upload some castlevania, thank you
Good to see some more Castlevaina!
Never thought of Dracula as a Person to have a Brother/Sister
I wanna say she just claims she's Dracula's niece and isn't actually related. That said, I wouldn't object to seeing Dracula's family Christmas party in a game
...i don't think she's actually his niece, but my knowledge of Dracula's history in this series is limited to CV3 and games that came out after this one (SoTN, LoI), so who knows.
Dracula is actually one of the Belmonts as of that God of War ripoff, right? That would perhaps go at least a little ways to explain this.
@@superlukey3 that's an alternate continuity. they tried to reboot/reimagine the series. i don't think it's connected to bloodlines, considering in lords of shadow Trevor and Alucard are the same person for some reason and that doesn't seem to be the case here.
to be fair, there are like, three basic origins for the belmonts/dracula: sonia's version in that gameboy castlevania ((which got retconned)), lament of innocence ((which I believe is the main timeline but don't quote me)) and lords of shadow ((an alternate continuity)).
i think only the first one would even make it plausible for dracula to be related to someone, as matthias and gabriel don't have siblings mentioned anywhere except in bad fan fiction.
Vlad Tepes, who Dracula is based on, was actually Elizabeth Bathory's uncle so that's probably why they did that
Yay! Another Castlevania game review! I don't play Castlevania but I do enjoy these kinds of videos. Makes me want to get into the series.
You should!!!!
I love ur reviews, pretty nice detailed and fun to watch, also your voice sounds so nice to me for some reason ^^
Fantastic review. I recently did a run of this as John and was blown away. I had always read/heard it was a lesser entry. That’s obviously not true. It’s great.
One of my favorite RUclipsrs doing one of my favorite castlevania games!
Mr. Pikasprey is also my favorite Castlevaniatuber!
So glad to see you upload
Thank you for covering this game, i really enjoyed it!
This is an engaging and informative retrospective. Thanks!
Love this channel. Cant wait the pikasprey yellow Digimon video
Yay, new pikasprey upload!
I been watching only your playthrus videos and i got suprised seeing a 17min video from you, then i remembered you also had this channel
The only real issue I have with this game is that I feel like having limited continues doesn't fit in a series that's as punishing as Castlevania.
Granted, the game does give you passwords and only features six (rather lengthy) stages. But I'd rather just have it so you get sent back to the start of the current stage whenever you run out of lives.
That's also my only complain too
Love this please do more of these
First of all, great channel, both this one and the blue one. After watching this video and follow the let's play, I noticed that there are two aspects of Eric's character that you do not seem to know.
The first is that, with your weapon at the highest power level, if you do not release the attack button too fast after attacking, the spear cross opens and Eric makes two hits in the same attack. Although it seems that the animation is always done, only if you hold the attack button enough Eric makes the two impacts, taking twice as much energy from his opponents.
The second is that, if you keep pressing the attack button and press the pad from right to left, or from left to right, Eric makes quick turnstiles with the spear. This tactic sacrifices the distance of the spear but, done at the right moment, can damage several quickly and even shield you from projectiles that would normally be difficult to dodge or deflect. Hope this can help you. Greetings from Spain.
I love this game; thanks for covering it!
Awesome review! I love this game a lot.
glad i can finally give this a go through the castlevania anniversary collection
ITS GONNA BE ON SWITCH!!!!!! I'm so stoked that this is happening so i can FINALLY play this again, i haven't played it since i was like, a kid kid haha
Finally! A new video :D
Loved your Castlevania playthroughs on Blue. More Castlevania!
Aye, a Castlevania upload!
To be honest, most games of this era didn't have amazing endings. And most people didn't play just for that anyway. lol
But, I get what you mean, though I think at least the cutscene for the ending in this is really cool.
I was just playing this yesterday and I have to say that I love that the sprite for John Morris looks like an absolute unit
Yay, more castlevania videos
I really like when you do these Castlevania games. Your video on Aria of Sorrow made me wanna try that game.
You should get it! The Sorrow games are definitely the most friendly to newcomers of the metroidvanias. The other two GBA games (Circle of the Moon and Harmony of Dissonance) are fantastic too, but they're more difficult and focus entirely on the whip as your main weapon (which can make them a little repetitive unless you really like the whip).
Now we have the Castlevania collection and the upcoming Genesis Mini.
I mean, it kinda already exists and has for a while now. I own one. It touts something like 50 games, but half of them aren't "real" games. They're like mini-games. But on the plus side you can plug an actual sega controller in and it has a top loader slot for real genesis games.
@@kyuubinaruto17 Not that one.
I always love it when games have you travel around the World in different stages.
Hell yeah another Castlevania review!
Just bought SotN a few minutes before this was uploaded. Good sign.
Well made video man. Keep it up. ;)
I am incredibly glad this game is coming out with Anniversary edition. I've wanted to play it since this video came out.
You make the best Pokemon hidden content/Lost Content videos :( Please make more Asprey
god fucking bless these types of videos
Oooh I'm interested
Never played Castlevania games, but this video may give it a chance. It looks pretty awesome to be honest!
The art style loosely reminds me of Golden Sun somehow.
Also the buff vampire slayer reminds me of Jojo xD
Great video man! ✨
The later games go all-in on JoJo references - as far as having a boss that's just Dio with blue skin and red hair.
Yay! Pikasprey Castlevania! :D
"I guess we have bloodstained to make up for the stage based Castlevanias"
And that too, aged like milk
The moths poisonous powder messed with my eyes also , it happens in a lot of old games
The moth powder scene is hard too see , it makes me feel better knowing some one else experiences the same thing . Also thank you for warning us if your going to use speed up, that really hurts my head . Cheers pikasprey thank you for all of this re-watchable gold .
Pikasprey, you're one of the few RUclipsrs that has a good format and can make subjcects I'm not familiar with interesting. Do continue making more videos on Yellow, and enjoy 2019!
Thankfully one bit of information on this video is now outdated, Castlevania Bloodlines will be re released on The Castlevania Anniversary Collection and the Sega Mini both out in 2019
This is hands down my favorite of the classic Castlevania games, maybe one day Konami will remaster or remake it like they did with Rondo of Blood on the PSP.
Nah. That's not what people want! We obviously want Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night for the umpteen bajilionth time! Seriously I can, and have, sucked those games dicks all day. I would like to give a different one a taste, please!
This look like a lot of fun. Also Pikasprey is the greatest game reviewer ever
I know you get annoyed when people bug you about games and whatnot but thanks for making videos. They are always fun and very educational.
Ever since they released the Castlevania Classic Collection, I gave this game a try and fell in love with it. I prefer the Japanese version included though, since the American version has an absolutely unnecessary amount of Fleamen in the palace of Versailles.
impeccable timing
so excited for bloodlines to be on NSO. Always wanted to play it since first seeing this video!
Dude! Great video again! Hopefully you're not still taking shit for not always doing Pokemon games, because I really dig the Castlevania stuff as well. Keep it up!
I was thinking of commenting : "you know, it's about time for another video, right?" On the last gem collecting video.
Lo and behold
Bloodlines is among the series one of the best titles in my opinion. It deserve to be recognized.
As soon as you mentioned the green aura on the weapons I was thinking "Man, I bet people love to speed run this game using that." and sure enough...
I just realized Eric Lecarde may have been originally intended to be somehow related to Alucard since he has Alucard's Spear, plus his name ends with 'Lecarde' which sounds just like 'Alucard'.
Weird, I was just re-watching your Castlevania videos yesterday--
We used to call the stage 3 boss "Shitballs" because of his look and that he screamed Shitballs when you hit him.
I love the music of Bloodlines, largely because of how unique it sounds from all other Castlevania games thanks to the Genesis soundchip. Stage 2 and 4 songs especially are really good.
Good news. This is one of the games that's gonna be in the Castlevania collection next month.
0:37 Koumajou densetsu: Am I a joke to you?
Ok but really, more people should know about that series. Classic Castlevania but with flying is a really good idea, and, at least in the second one, is very well executed.
Happy new year
Bloodlines is honestly one of my favorites. It's super underrated for what it is.
I feel like the Death Battle in Bloodlines might’ve been the inspiration for the King Dice Battle in Cuphead.
King Dice conjures a die that you need to parry to move an icon across a game board. Landing on certain spaces get you teleported into a mini boss room.
congratulations
you have freed yourself from
the shadow of the beast
Seeing Pikasprey playing Castlevania games makes me want to see him talk about the Castlevania timeline, particularly the timeline made by GamerThumb
I find it funny how there were these 16-bit non-nintendo entries in the series that led to fantastic sequels. I guess it shows how creative you can be with story if you try.
In any case this was cool to see. This game has been on my radar and seeing it in action is encouraging, though i do hope an easy, legit way to play this will pop up. It'd be neat if this got a treatment similar to Rondo Of Blood / Symphony of the Night, released in a combo with Portrait of Ruin
11:29-11:43 Is that a reference to Mothra? Damn, never thought Castlevania would reference Godzilla and their Kaiju's...
Yay more “Christianvania“ content please!!!
excuse me what
@@ActionGamerAaron that Guy's real name is Christian.
And he is making a video about Castlevania...
In Dynamite Headdy(from Treasure) you can see another method with rotated cylinder. But it rotates you around a boss in center
Interesting! I imagine this game's Death fight may be the inspiration for King Dice's fight from Cuphead!
I think the whip swinging might be a reference to castlevania for the atari 2600 where literally the only use for the whip was to cross gaps
1:50 actually they aren't descendents of the Belmonts, John just got the vampire killer when Richter disappeared after symphony of the night and gave it to another family of vampire hunters called the Morris'
forgot what's up with Eric tho, I know he's definitely not a Belmont
January: it's sad that Bloodline has never been re-released
March: Sega Genesis mini announced with Bloodlines being one of the games on it.
Got to love the nearly perfect timing that Pikasprey had here.
& Bloodlines is also the the Castlevania collection.
It’s been 83 years
Contra Hard Corps and Castlevania Bloodlines, two great Genesis game in the shadows of their SNES counterparts (Contra 3 and Super Castlevania IV). I love Castlevania, I love the Genesis and I love Pikasprey, that's a match made in heaven!
Man, I'd love to see a remake of Bloodlines in the brutal and bloody gameplay style of classic God of War with some juicy story bits added to put some meat on its bones. Like the duo hitching a ride with soldiers only to learn that they were vampires under Bathery's control, or acknowledging their duty to fight the forces of darkness but lamenting being powerless to end the current war while they do so (maybe be shunned by one or more family members for "chasing fairy tales while *real* soldiers with *real* guns threaten our lives" kind of deal and/or having a brother in the military that they can't help), etc.
Plus, since the game was set in 1917, rather than 1918 they could avoid the subject of the Influenza pandemic.
But given that this is Konami we're talking about I'd probably be more likely to see a remake of Fusion: Genesis.
yey another castlevania video! more please (^_^)
Every time I get some interest in Castlevania to look into this, I learn about another PAL version being butchered by censorship back then... :(
