Had an 05 sedan 5AT, then 07 g35s 5AT sedan and currently 13 sedan 6mt, all stock, except upgrade sub in trunk. Handling of the 05 was better. The 6MT sedan is unique and fun.
MW wanted everyone to forget and so did Infiniti lol. Truthfully, the V35 was truly developed with Infiniti in mind, after Nissan execs in the early 90s realized that the E36 3-Series was a better space to play in and that their Skyline R32 and in development R33 update for '94, couldn't be sold in USA due to LHD conversion challenges. Development of what became the G35, started in 1994 and got sidelined when Nissan finances struggled in 1995-96. That's kinda why the G20 was discontinued in 96, then brought in 98, because the decision to cancel it was plans by 1993-94 for an all new G sedan for 1998 that was RWD and no longer Primera based. G35 came much later than planned in early 2002, coupe in November 2002.
@@gedamanInfiniti had plans for a 1997 Q45 sized coupe in 1992-1993 as well, but it got rejected by execs during final design reviews in the summer of 1993 and they instead invested in V35 program from 1994.
@@nwezetx1 That’s interesting. I never knew that there were plans for an Infiniti Q45 coupe. It could have been a Mercedes-Benz CL-Class competitor or maybe even a BMW 8-Series competitor. It would have been interesting to see it go head to head with the Lexus SC coupe or the Acura Legend Coupe or later Acura CL coupe. It’s probably better that plans for an Infiniti Q45 coupe were cancelled. It probably would not have sold well. Even back in the ‘90s coupes were a niche market segment.
@@gedaman There was an archived news article from May or June 1993 by Fortune or some big name paper, just about when the '94 Q45 facelift went on sale and the Y33 Q45 design was secretly being finalized (Infiniti finalized new production designs 29.5 months before start of assembly and basic design details 6 months before that). They had interviewed Itaru Sugino, who was presiding over its design work. They talk about a C140 and SC competitor being developed for the 1997 model year and that they planned to choose a final design that June (1993). G35 development began in 94, focused on the sedan mostly and then stalled in 1995, because of the Japanese recession killing Nissan capital investment. The incentive to develop a new Infiniti J30 on the FM failed and a coupe off the Y33, equally redundant I guess. G20 became unnecessary with the new I30 (1995), so it wasn't renewed until it was known that a lot of new models for the late 90s weren't going to arrive.
Almost unbelievable how far the Infiniti brand has fallen. They were on top of their game in the early 2000s, even giving the Germans a run for their money. Today? Utterly forgettable. A case study in abysmal product management.
We can thank Carlos Ghosn and his thuggery ways. Literally put Nissan/Infiniti a decade behind the car market. Luckily there is hope, given their remarkable products they're putting out as of late. I just hope they don't give up on the car game since the Q50 is now gone. A sweet car that just needed some modernizing.
@@hellkitty1014What “remarkable products” is Infiniti or Nissan putting out lately? They’ve given up entirely on cars with the discontinuation of the Infiniti Q50 after 2024 and the all new 2025 Infiniti QX80 is a joke compared to the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade and 2025 Lincoln Navigator. Nissan will be discontinuing the Altima soon as well. Nissan is basically on life support now. Carlos Ghosn turned the company around 25 years ago and then made a dash.
@gedaman Nissan of the 90s/early 2000s were vastly superior to thr crap Ghosn put out. Everything went CVT and Infiniti was left to languish for years. But cars like the new Murano, Armada, and QX80 are very competitive against their competition. Even the current Rogue and Pathfinder are solid entrants. What's with the doom and gloom??
One of the nice things about them was they did, as John stated, run on the same wheelbase as the sedan, so they actually had a decent back seat, and a large trunk.
Had a custom made 05 G35 Coupe 6MT. First one in Cali I think. It was so fun to drive but didn't felt the same after some repairs. Had a family so I had to get rid of it. Hardly anyone bought the 2003 - 2004 Infiniti M45 (Nissan Cedric/Gloria). It was a total flop and not really made with America in mind sort of like the 1990 Infiniti M30 (Nissan Leopard). I really wish Nissan/Infiniti's general quality hadn't gone to crap. I owned many, including one of the original Sentra SE-R's and two Infiniti G20's, and they were great cars that wouldn't let you down. The G35 looked great on paper and testers said great things about it, but the interior didn't hold up, especially the junk-quality leather, and they seem to have mostly died early deaths or gotten into the hands of lowest-common-denominator type owners.
The 2003 - 2004 model years were particularly bad with bad brakes that would wear out very fast. There was almost a class action lawsuit against Nissan over the brakes which is why Nissan improved the brakes for the 2005 model year when they gave the Infiniti G35 a mid-cycle refresh. The interior was upgraded too with higher quality materials including real aluminum trim instead of the cheap silver painted plastic trim pieces.
The Acura CL was on a different mission. It was meant to be a knockoff Mercedes-Benz CL-Class or Lincoln Mark VIII. They were nice for what they were, a more plush badge engineered Honda Accord Coupe. I liked the 2001 - 2003 Acura CL, but the Infiniti G35 was much more exhilarating. I think the Infiniti G35 was the main reason why the Acura CL was discontinued in 2003. Acura didn’t want to play in that field once the Infiniti G35 came out.
INFINITI has always made really good vehicles for the money. It’s a shame they aren’t making any more cars and only SUVs/crossovers, but they’re far from the only brand doing so. I love my G. Sad to see so many people destroying them. But there a handful that have taken care of them!
Ours lasted 15 years, over 140,000 miles. Loved that car; did everything but invest in a supercharger.
My only issue with the G35 is that most of the used ones are clapper out and modded tastelessly.
21 years old 😮
Such a nice car, too bad many of them are now molested with shitty mods like trumpet exhausts, crappy after market wheels and being thrown around at street car takeovers.
It's unfortunate these became theft targets (be careful of you have one) Infinitis have probably the greatest cost, reliability, performance, styling ratio of any used vehicles.
Bought my 6MT new in 2003. It was Motor Trend's 2003 COTY. Awesome ride. I might still own it today had a tree not fallen on it and crushed it. 😞
I absolutely love these and the 3.5 Altima coupes. The early-mid 2000s gtr concept was wrapped in a similar body style
The prototype R35 Nissan GT-R was a V35 Nissan Skyline Coupe/Infiniti G35 Coupe. The R35 Nissan GT-R used a modified version of the Nissan FM platform used in the Infiniti G, FX, EX, M and Nissan 350Z. I remember seeing the spy photographs of the prototype R35 Nissan GT-R in car magazines with a silver V35 Nissan Skyline Coupe driving around the Nurburgring.
Hub and I bought a 2004 G35 coupe in Caribbean Blue and she lasted until 7/5/2019, with remnants of her blown out on 196 North at the Saugatuck exit…best car. She got us out of a couple of scary winter driving moments for sure. ❤

Nissan has really lost its way. Now they need money to fix their problems but need their problems fixed to get the money. Sadly, I don’t have a lot of hope for their future.
Had an 05 sedan 5AT, then 07 g35s 5AT sedan and currently 13 sedan 6mt, all stock, except upgrade sub in trunk.
Handling of the 05 was better. The 6MT sedan is unique and fun.
One of the greatest cars ever built
I have the 6 Mt w/ Brembo love driving it But it was in Bad shape when I bought it. Going to make it look clean
Edgar Motors hasn’t came out with a good car since this platform hit.
😂
Gotta love a Z car in a tuxedo.
The only time you see these cars not trashed and being beaten on by certain groups.
I nearly put in order in for one back in the day, but the six speed was just a little pricey for my budget. I bought a low mile Z31 instead.
“Is Infiniti the next Scion? Find out nowadays based on the sales numbers of the new 2025 QX80!”
Absolutely loved my 2005 sedan 6speed with the Rev up motor.

* *A 1989 Infiniti M30 enters the chat* *
They called the G35 Infiniti’s first 2 door, ha. I think everyone forgot about the 1990 Nissan Leopard, err Infiniti M30… 😂
Had one 👍🏻🔥
Shouldn’t have sold it
Almost unbelievable how far the Infiniti brand has fallen.
@@gedamanI disagree, the QX80 is still competitive and many observers seem to think so. Not to mention the Armada as well.
Very long story, which I will get to later.
@2:09 it's that guy! The dude that was in a Nissan Maxima & walked that Porshe in a drag race. 😂
Dude is a legend
I’m so tired of the hate on g35/37 they are amazing cars, stop hating on the car hate on the owner
I thought they had the most perfect interiors. Great looks. Finally found a low mileage '05 Lexus IS300 that I bought. Would still like one of these.
My dad had one and did 147 in it
"infinitis first two door" i guess that M30 he reviewed is more forgettable than i initially thought lol
In stock form, they're great cars. Unfortunately, many have been modified by kids.
It’s sad what Infiniti has become and that the 5th owners of these clapped these out and send them at takeovers.
Former g35 and current IPL G owner
Infinity G35 official car of Edgars
Had a custom made 05 G35 Coupe 6MT. First one in Cali I think. It was so fun to drive but didn't felt the same after some repairs. Had a family so I had to get rid of it. I still miss it from time to time tho. Not sure if I would get it again now but looking back at it now I should've gotten a used 03 M45 instead back then. The body line on that car is crazy nice. I wonder why I didn't see that back then. 😊
Hardly anyone bought the 2003 - 2004 Infiniti M45 (Nissan Cedric/Gloria). It was a total flop and not really made with America in mind sort of like the 1990 Infiniti M30 (Nissan Leopard). Sometimes Nissan just rebadges any Japanese Nissan model as an Infiniti expecting easy success and it blows up on them.
I can't believe this was 21 years ago!
The preferred car of street takeover’s and police impounds.
Ah, the Skyline.
Careful people might get mad at you for saying that 😂
The only time Infiniti was relevant.
Infiniti stayed relevant until around 2014 when the Infiniti Q50 kind of lost momentum for the Infiniti brand.
@@gedamanBlaming the Q50 introduction in 2013, ignores some other issues with the brand by 2014-15.
Ghosn handicapped upward momentum of Infiniti in the 2010s.
These cars were 🔥. Unfortunately 75% of the people that bought them destroyed them because they don't know how to drive & they redlined them every chance they got. Which is why i don't see them anymore.
These engines had a few specific maintenance quirks that would take them out if the owner didn't know or care enough to keep up with it.
Specifically the early ones if I recall correctly
@@josephthomas8318 None that I'm aware of. But if people took the time to read their owner's & service manuals they wouldn't have had any issues with em. We saw how most people drove them lol. We remember lol.
@@josephthomas8318 They treated them like they were souped up rwd Altima's.
@@user-sk1eh3pg6j75% of who? Mostly not the first owners. Plenty in the Sunbelt still exist, the clapped out and cigarette filled playthings of Edgars in Texas, NM, and AZ with trashy mods.
Insane car
These were one of the coolest cars to have in the early 2000s.
Came for the review, stayed for the music.
The star of stolen car slideshows
So hard to find one thats all stock and fairly low miles
You can tell this a old video from the lake of homeless people and no poop in the streets in San Francisco
Dang San Francisco looks a lot different in the early 2000's then now.
Lacking the piles of human shit.
Not the parts they were in this video no shit now.. but go to the TLs and even then it was shitty im from Oakland but I know
NICE / GREAT CAR FOR 2003
This car destroyed the Acura CL
The Acura CL was on a different mission. It was meant to be a knockoff Mercedes-Benz CL-Class or Lincoln Mark VIII. They were nice for what they were, a more plush badge engineered Honda Accord Coupe. I liked the 2001 - 2003 Acura CL, but the Infiniti G35 was much more exhilarating. I think the Infiniti G35 was the main reason why the Acura CL was discontinued in 2003. Acura didn’t want to play in that field once the Infiniti G35 came out.
Those taillights were so new and futuristic. You could see a g35 one mile and you knew it was a g35 cause no one had those unique taillights.
INFINITI has always made really good vehicles for the money. It’s a shame they aren’t making any more cars and only SUVs/crossovers, but they’re far from the only brand doing so. You can’t blame them for only making what people want to buy, but it is a shame great cars like the G series sedans and coupes as well as the Q series sedans and coupes are gone now. I loved my old I35, loved my G37, and love my Q50. They’ve all been great cars and with a few basic mods outperform cars that cost nearly twice the MSRP.
I have a q70 and i love it
I wish Infiniti would make an all new Q70. Those were such nice cars. The Lexus GS was great too. It’s a shame people don’t want to buy cars now.
I remember the annoying Infiniti exhaust sounds of this area. This was one of them.

Love smoking these in my G37 Sedan with the 7AT..
Could you imagine someone saying, this was their dream car
Remember when Infiniti was good for like 3 years and then never again
Best model Infiniti ever built … honestly should’ve kept my G35S in my avi, because I sadly decided to leave Infiniti and never return for any of their other models, aside from the FX50S that was unfortunately discontinued as well smh
Ah yes, the takeover special
