I think by 2009 I stopped checking to see if I could get it back again and I just didn't even know.. And it's too bad that old ladies project seems to be dead.. with the BS mod discord being a dead link and the forums where the development had been incrementally dropping completely went down and.. it really is a shame because they were doing some of the coolest things that source engine can do.. like all the dark Messiah stuff with kicking people off of cliffs and having them rag doll and be able to come back up if they don't die and stuff like that.. just watching two NPCs beat each other to death with shovels and all these animations that they had pulled in from like left for dead and whatnot or customs.. like literally just two NPCs going at it and it was a genuinely entertaining fight.. I know that this has so many problems, but this man has managed to make an entire game (although modded), which is probably much more than what I can manage to do in my life tenfolds.
This mod is supposed to be half life 3 but for some reason he went out of his way to deviate as far as possible from half life in like every way, including the use of so many cutscenes, which is the opposite of what half life stands for. It is comically dumb design for a game, especially one supposedly an unofficial sequal to a half life game. But you know what? The effort is there, so props to this dude. Even if he did not have good game sense, he put all this work and dedication into it, and I think we are all better off for having seen it- even if it is just because it's comical and can stand as a good example of the importance of game design.

Oh I was livid. It ruined my entire life. My date to shrek the musical ghosted me, I’m $400,000 in debt, and i think cab drivers are hitting me on purpose.
7:44 this is quite literally the interior of the NX-01 from star trek enterprise. That little turret thing that drops from the ceiling later is also from star trek.
This mod is surreal to me in how the mod author explains his side. He legitimately does not understand or grasp the importance of story or continuity in the design of a game. The guy obviously has a good grasp of first person mechanics and map design but to be almost braindead in the other regards is unbelievable. The guy basically said he hadn't played the original games in years when he bothered making this mod. Who anyways spends all this manpower on something you don't even care about that much. I don't understand any of it.
Considering Leon started modding duke nukem, he probably only stuck with source modding because the engine is very capable compared to the likes of the doom engine while still being (relatively) easy to mod. A lot of the level design feels more like something out of that pre-half-life era of fps mixed with half-life 2 mechanics. (which are nearly engrained into the source engine) Examples: The maps don't feel like real places, instead feeling like something out of a hazy dream, or a map from a 90's fps being remade in HD. The amount of enemies is unbelievable, sometimes you'll encounter about 15 soldiers at once in a small area with little to no cover, which does not go well with how half-life 2's gunplay was designed. (in hl2 you'll never fight more than about 7 soldiers at once, and when you do fight that amount, you'll have rebels, a vehicle with a gun, or antlions, usually in an wide open space or in a small space with lots of cover.) There are 0 breaks between combat, which fighting enemies constantly was the appeal of those games. The arbitrary "walk over here to this random place then a cutscene starts then you can progress" seems to be rooted in the keycard based progression of older fps games rather than the player based progression of all the half-life games. Leon is a fucking enigma of a source modder and every time I see a positive reaction to his work I wonder how any half-life fan could derive enjoyment from it. (P.S. If you want to see how doom like gameplay can be made in the source engine and still be enjoyable; I recommend the the 10th map from map labs #3 abstraction, called shake.) Also to anyone reading this, have a good day.
I think the air vents in the cave are meant to pipe air down from the surface. In Arx Fatalis(a very underrated fantasy rpg) you would occasionally see the same kind of thing.
From the very beginning, this is the complete opposite of half-life, like what made half-life unique is that there were no cutscenes you saw everything through Gordon's eyes.
Well you can’t get “infected” in the half life universe and turn into a zombie, you have to have a headcrab latch onto you:edit: 13:12 the headcrab, went, WEEEEEEE:edit 2: knowledge: +1000

I really like the force awakens too but feel it was slightly dependant on the other two being good to make it more than just a fun adventure. Moments like "a good question for another time" were annoying at the time but I originally accepted them thinking that the other movies would answer that questions, but now it's just annoying.
We went into more detail after that topic was brought up and we mentioned the fact that the two other movies ruined everything, but I cut it out because I figured no one would care about our thoughts on it lol

Oh my god, the glock sound effect. I've USED that in some of my old games, it's a stock sound from freesound or soundbible with only some minor bass boosting.
Actually... It's a bit odd that you don't encounter Aperture turrets at all in any of the Half-Life, Portal 2 suggests that those turrets were available to the average consumer so you'd think you'd at least come across parts for one at some point. Perhaps they were too expensive for consumers, perhaps they weren't sold in Europe, perhaps the turrets were only theoretically available to consumers but had a lot of red tape in acquiring one, perhaps they were all confiscated by the Combine for study and replication. I mean, The obvious answer is that Half Life was developed first and Portal turrets were just a reskin of the Combine Turrets, but that's not a fun answer, that's just the practical one.
Honestly I don't think anyone would have bought them, even in Portal 1 Aperture Science doesn't really seem to understand marketing all that well (this is the same company that gave an obviously malevolent AI access to neurotoxin). I wouldn't be surprised if Aperture was staffed entirely by black guys 5 days from retirement who's favourite hobby is showing each other family photos. And they all have the superpower of MAGNETISM! But it only works to get even more death flags.
@Exo Falz Now that you mention it, looking back on a few things suggests that the consumer version of the turret was likely revealed to the public no earlier than 1998, and the Black Mesa Incident happened at some point in the early 2000s, it's possible they never hit the market before the incident, and if they did were only available to consumers for possibly only around two years. And now that I think about it further, no one in their right mind would buy a turret, this is an example of Aperture being humorously out of touch with general consumers as I'm sure nobody wants their home security to actually kill people. You couldn't use it for home defense as it is designed for anyways as that would likely fall under the definition of a booby trapping, which I'm pretty sure is illegal nation wide.
@@mrscruffles801 No not exactly, most want it to have the capability to kill rather than such a result to be definitive, in home defense applications guns are a lethal deterrent to add credibility to your threats against the invader. Most sane people prefer such conflicts to end without death on any side regardless of who is in the right. For some burglars merely pointing the gun at them is enough for them to flee, for others a warning shot, then a non-lethal hit for the persistent, and a lethal strike as a last resort for the proper crazies.
@@luigimaster111 Fair enough. I figured the reason you don't see turrets in Black mesa is why would they use their competitor's products? The combine might've ripped off Aperture's turrets and made knock offs without the personalities and be used purely for the function of defense.

Those spaceship hallways, turret, and teleporter are modeled after Star Trek: Enterprise! It would not surprise me in the least if those models were stolen from a recreation of the NX-01 someone made.
It's literally from a cancelled HL2 Star Trek mod. Most likely used with permission tho.
I knew I recognized the hallways from somewhere.
I literally recognized the hallway from the show instantly, and the transporter pad confirmed it.
The hallways, the consoles, the phase turret, transporter pad. Really tripped me seeing it! Glad I wasn't the only one
Really glad I'm not the only one who recognized that
The amount of cutscenes in this mod is astounding, clearly the owner put many efforts into this since its commonly extensive to make. Sadly this mod is categorized as wack.
He's trying to be the next Hideo Kojima
This mod is actually really good. Big respect for the creator for the effort putted into this project, made by only one person. I appreciate this mod.

26:24 the gnome jumpscare is hilarious to me
This feels like the ultimate antithesis to Half-Life in its entirety
I know that this has so many problems, but this man has managed to make an entire game (although modded), which is probably much more than what I can manage to do in my life tenfolds.
This mod is supposed to be half life 3 but for some reason he went out of his way to deviate as far as possible from half life in like every way, including the use of so many cutscenes, which is the opposite of what half life stands for. It is comically dumb design for a game, especially one supposedly an unofficial sequal to a half life game.
But you know what? The effort is there, so props to this dude. Even if he did not have good game sense, he put all this work and dedication into it, and I think we are all better off for having seen it- even if it is just because it's comical and can stand as a good example of the importance of game design.
oh my god i thought that more or less enemies thing was one of you guys doing a horrible impression
15:54 If I remember Tyler McVicker's stream from this, he was freaking out from the pistol reload most. I wish I could find the stream where he played it, but it looks like it's lost to history.
I've been looking for it too, remember it being hilarious based off depressed he got. Guess it's been deleted
"I swear if Chell shows up" I died
This makes me think. Why don't we see any other human weapons in Half-Life 2 amongst the resistance? Why do they all use Combine guns?
Come on, even the Quake series has too much Quake 2, and now this?
I like how these guys get angry about a portal turret even though portal and Half Life are same universe
I wasn't mad (dunno about Mahogany though), just thought it was weird since there was no explanation at all.
If it had been in or near the borealis it would have made more sense since it was an Aperture shipping vessel in the first place, but it was in some random mineshaft in the beginning of the game so...
Oh I was livid. It ruined my entire life. My date to shrek the musical ghosted me, I’m $400,000 in debt, and i think cab drivers are hitting me on purpose.
I was kinda hopping they'd pick up the turret and carry it around as auto hand cannon

7:44 this is quite literally the interior of the NX-01 from star trek enterprise. That little turret thing that drops from the ceiling later is also from star trek.
This looks really promising, I hope valve takes some notes because this is something that can really be part of the lore.

(which are nearly engrained into the source engine)
Examples: The maps don't feel like real places, instead feeling like something out of a hazy dream, or a map from a 90's fps being remade in HD.
The amount of enemies is unbelievable, sometimes you'll encounter about 15 soldiers at once in a small area with little to no cover, which does not go well with how half-life 2's gunplay was designed.
(in hl2 you'll never fight more than about 7 soldiers at once, and when you do fight that amount, you'll have rebels, a vehicle with a gun, or antlions, usually in an wide open space or in a small space with lots of cover.)
There are 0 breaks between combat, which fighting enemies constantly was the appeal of those games.
(P.S. If you want to see how doom like gameplay can be made in the source engine and still be enjoyable; I recommend the the 10th map from map labs #3 abstraction, called shake.)
Also to anyone reading this, have a good day.
I think the air vents in the cave are meant to pipe air down from the surface. In Arx Fatalis(a very underrated fantasy rpg) you would occasionally see the same kind of thing.
Pretty sure the green eyed guys are supposed to be HECU soldiers. Why the hell they're still around or why they're helping the combine is beyond me.

how does this amazing video keep finding its way onto my reccomendations
I really like the force awakens too but feel it was slightly dependant on the other two being good to make it more than just a fun adventure. Moments like "a good question for another time" were annoying at the time but I originally accepted them thinking that the other movies would answer that questions, but now it's just annoying.
We went into more detail after that topic was brought up and we mentioned the fact that the two other movies ruined everything, but I cut it out because I figured no one would care about our thoughts on it lol

@@luigimaster111 "I'm sure nobody wants their home security to actually kill people" Isn't that what guns are for?
