In this same concert, Simone and Floor team up again to sing "Sancta Terra," an Epica song that's not classical but does include some beautiful harmonies. I think you'd enjoy it.

Oh my god . you haven't heard them doind Sancta Terra before this one. Strap in girl and hang one. One of the most awesome pieces for symph metal and rock opera ever.

I think the most metalheads are very open for classical music. I am not sure if this reaction possible at a rap "concert"

Floor is all class and so humble. One of the greatest (greatest in my opinion) vocalists on the earth, and I would love to share a beer with her and laugh.
And do note she specially thanked the conductor and gave a curtsy!
This was a special concert by the band, normally not appearing with a full orchestra. Simone and Floor sing so well together, good reaction!
Simone's brilliant soprano part!! She is an amazing singer.
It's still amazes me that a venue full of metalheads also enjoys listening to classical music. But then again it's a small step from symphonic metal to classical music. 👍😁🤘
Epica is symphonic metal, mixing death metal, progressive metal, etc., If not always, almost every time they have an orchestra and a choir in all their compositions. There are very often 3 lead vocals in their songs: Simone, Mark (Growling/Screaming) and the Choir. Epica comes a close second to Nightwish as my favourite bands.
That performance took me to church!
Floor coached Simone for a while and even shared a room at some point. It really shows:-)
Also 3+ hours concert while she was pregnant.......
Their duet in this is amazing, and I've played lead violin for this, although at nowhere near this quality (it was at the music school where I lead the orchestra). I think it helps to appreciate the music when you have made a real attempt at producing it, if only because you realise just how difficult it is to make it look so easy! I guess our rendition was ok for a bunch of learning amateurs, but hearing this reminds me of how bad I was - and as lead violin, I was supposedly the best of us, or at least someone thought so! Our two leading ladies were ony just adequate for the parts, although we probably didn't help them much!
It is far from easy, but Simone and Floor really pull this off brilliantly, and of course their accomanying musicians provide excellent support.
This piece really demonstrates Floor's amazing range, as she is singing the alto part with apparent ease, while Simone takes the soprano - which is Floor's natural and most used range. I don't think many sopranos could get down to those notes, at least to that quality. Floor does so frequently, as well as reaching the heights of the soprano range!

Many composers have written music for the Stabat Material of course. Pergolesi possibly the best known among Vivaldi, Verdi, des Pres, Lasses, Scarlatti, Haydn, Dvorak, Part etc etc
It's the hymn to Mary, a 13th century text.
You should listen to it sung in a church acoustic without amplification with the singer controlling all the dynamics
they did 2 songs together at this concert they also performed a more band oriented Sancta Terra less classical piece.

The sound is better from the tv show version, but I liked the one she did at a female metal festival more. The contrast makes it more special imo.
Great Reaction. I would like to recommend ' Sancta Terra ' ft. Floor again, 'Design Your Universe', 'Chasing the Dragon', 'Unleashed', 'The Divine Conspiracy' 'Consign to Oblivion" from the same concert (Retrospect Live DVD).

I've heard the intro of the show and I think she said 50 nationalities where at the concert. They also did a nice imperial march instrumental at that concert.

I hear this one time bevore a few weeks ago, you have right it's georgious! This two voices together are really beautiful, and you can see this two ladys know and like each other because they know about many years and they get friends, i think i read one time Simone and Floor learnd at same time and school singing, i forget the name where. It sounds like Simone sings the higher and Floor the lower part, i think the lower part is easyer for Floor because she also has the bigger mouth shape and that makes it easyer for her to create that tones. I think one reactor say this in an reaction where Floor sings Puccinis "O mio babbino caro". This was an opera arie, maybe you know it, Floor sings it great! If you don't know this video with Floor look it if you have time, i'm sure you will like it when you like this song here!

Both Simone and Floor are sopranos, but in this piece Floor sang Mezzo-soprano.

2013 indeed, a couple of months before Nightwish's Wacken...quite the year for symphonic metal I'd say
BTW now that you mentioned I think it was an argentinian flag in the front row, it could be as Epica has a great following here just like Nightwish. This concert was in the Netherlands though, but it was streamed to the whole world and many people from different countries came to see it live too
As for Epica and classical music, they do those crossovers when they have live orchestra like in this concert and one other big one they did. In this one they did Vivaldi's Summer 2nd movement as a duet between violin and guitar which is amazing as well.
Oooooh! I'm going to have to find Vivaldi's Summer from this concert!
