Kitty and Kurt's brother/sister-like relationship was the cutest thing about this show. Although Kitty is not a tomboy in this show like she was in the comics, they still managed to make her endearing.
Best version of Kitty imao. Her and Rogue being polar opposites made watching their friendship develop in the series so fun to watch. Also Kitty had some of the funniest lines of dialogue
As someone who grew up with ADHD and Autism. X-Men has always been the most relatable of comic book superhero teams for me. Evolution, The Animated Series, ‘97, and Wolverine and the X-Men always were my favorites basically all of them lol. I remember when I transitioned too Private School I realized their were people just as “Uncanny,” as I am. I made new friends that I still talk to through this day. Kitty’s struggle to fit in and look at herself in a negative light of her powers as a curse was something I use to struggle with being on the spectrum. When she finds the X-Men she develops a sense of a better look at her abilities that prove to be a gift. Something my teachers helped develop in me to look at myself in a more positive light.
Something l I notice about Kitty's debut episode is that it's basically a "Hero's Journey", with Kitty going through the stages established in Joseph Campbell's novel, very similar to characters like Luke Skywalker, Frodo and Katara. The Ordinary World (the introduction of the hero and his world) - Kitty started as just an average teenager . The Call to Adventure (the hero finds a challenge or opportunity) - Kitty discovering that she's a mutant and is recruit by the X-men Meeting the Mentor (the hero finds a teacher) - Kitty meets Xavier and Jean Grey Refusal of the Call (the hero at first has doubts about facing the challenge) - Kitty at first doesn't want to be an X-men and has difficult to accept that she's a mutant. Tests, Allies, and Enemies (the hero finds friends, enemies and faces challenges) - Kitty develops friendship with the X-men, find a enemy (at the moment) in Avalanche and face her first challenge, to resist the temptation of abusing her powers (her dynamic with Avalanche is very similar to Vader and Luke or Jet and Katara). Crossing the Threshold (the hero leaves their comfort zone and enters the unknown) - Kitty moves to Xavier school and becomes an X-men.
Imo, this version of kitty and kitty in astonishing X-Men 2004 by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday (RIP one of the GOATs) are the two best versions of the character
you can tell the creators of the show understood the characters well, and putting rogue and kitty in the same dorm, simulated a sibling bond to a T, sisters always fighting it really added to the charm.
The best version of kitty pride. It's funny how it went from Pride of the X-Men that didn't get far, to 90s X-Men where Kitty doesn't show up at all to now where she is seen as a prominent member. Appearing in the movies and other media truly made her loved. Kitty really is the heart of the X-Men. Her relationships with Rogue, Wolverine and Nightcrawler are Amazing.
The Kitty in the 1989 "Pryde of the X-Men" pilot had none of the spunk and feistiness of the comic book Kitty. She was a whiny wet blanket crying all the time. Probably the reason the pilot didn't become a series.
Kitty Pryde for the longest time has always been one of my favourite X-Men characters and I loved her personality and how much of a positive youthful energy she brings to the X-Men, and in the Chris Claremont run she has such a wholesome dynamic with a lot of characters like how much of a father figure Wolverine is to her, Storm also acts as a positive mother figure to her, her friendship with Kurt is also really sweet, almost like siblings. X-Men Evolution was my first exposure to Kitty Prude and even though the whole valley girl voice took some getting used to, I still loved her growth over the span of the show and how much she accepts her home with the X-Men and feeling accepted and her bond with Nightcrawler and Wolverine was just as sweet to watch as it was in the Claremont comics. To be honest I've always preferred Kitty and Wolverines dynamic as a mentor and mentee, more than Jubilee and Wolverine.
I loved Kitty in the Evolution series. And the icing on the cake for me was when they showed her celebrating Hanukah with her family in the "Angels Wings" episode.
Since Ultimate Spider-Man I've been notocing that despite a lot of media really focuses on Kitty's importance on the team & in the universe, she still tends to be pretty overlooked by a lot of people, but in my opinon she's one of the best written & has one of the coolest powers I've ever seen in fiction 👍
In that episode with Logan having migraines of his pst, the professor said that surgery was successful in getting the chip out of Logan’s head. I have been saying it since 2011 and I will say it again: Can’t believe they never considered having Kitty use her powers to get that chip out of Logan’s head.
I’m assuming either they did have her do it or didn’t because she would still be inexperienced with her powers at the time, or at least not as experienced and proficient as she would become later in the series
I think Kitty was done better because she is the primary audience surrogate character and she was also supposed to be in the original X-Men cartoon series but was switched out for Jubilee, so the writers probably took inspiration from the original X-Men series too for her character.
Yes! Kitty is my favorite character in X-Men Evolution. Hell, probably my favorite part of the show. Her power is literally my absolute favorite. It's always so nice to see her use her powers like she's breathing and it's sometimes surprising because how our logic normally works. Like you don't expect someone to exit a car by standing up and phasing through the hood. Walls and door are just a suggestion for her. And yeah, with how much I love her it's so strange how difficult it is to think of why. With others I can think of specific scenes where they shine and they easily come to mine. Meanwhile Kitty is like a spice or maybe the sugar of this show. She's sprinkled everywhere and doesn't have much focus, but she feels like an enjoyable character that exists and is part of the family. Her personality, her dynamic with everyone... Every time she's on the screen makes me happy
Glad to see X-Men Evolution getting some much deserved spotlight. It really was my introduction to the team and I think it did the characters the right way. Late 90's / early 00's really was a golden age of comic book animated television.
If you’re wanting to see more peak Kitty Writing you should get into the previous Ultimate Universe before the remake. She becomes the leader of the X men and it’s crazy character growth
Evolution did her justice. In the comics shes pretty annoying. I didn't like how judgmental she was towards Nightcrawler, and the thirst she had for Colossus despite being a minor. And how wishy washy she became with him when she finally got him. I always wanted her powers to expand. Like she could look at things and make them intangible and also increase the mass of herself and other things at a thought.
Falling to her death? With kitty’s powers I don’t think there is any worry of falling her death. Of course the experience of falling thousands of feet with result in her being physically okay thanks to her powers; I can’t say the same for psychological well being
I feel Kitty was the most easygoing and dare I say purest of the x-men teens in evolution She is supportive, kind, mature and happy constantly Kurt is happy a lot too but he’s not as mature as kitty Scott and Jean are mature but both can come across as know it alls sometimes Spyke is well, Spyke And Rogue sometimes struggles hard to open up to others
havent began the video yet but as a kid this was my first introduction to the x men. Ever since ive looked at other adaptions & I'm not sure if its the nostalgia but i do believe evolution has some of the best character work out of most x men projects on par with spectacular spidermans character development
You and me both my friend. You and me both. It’s the main reason I don’t gel completely with Jubilee when I was watching 97’ cause the whole time I’m thinking about how Kitty would be cool to see. Nothing against jubilee I haven’t seen enough of her to have any real dislike or even criticism of her since I didn’t grow up in that era as a 99’ baby it’s just they did Kitty so well in this show and WATXM while we’re talking about her
When you are done with the characters analysis videos please consider looking over the x-men evolution comics. There are 9 of them and their good. There's one specifically about Kitty and Kurt and it's so heartwarming.
Back in the early 2000s I didn’t think her powers were all that but decades later I saw them as cool. In fact, in the cyclops story I am working on, I found ways of how her powers can be used more resourcefully.
I think for me, I love kitty pride in xmen evolution but at the same time she has a bubby but quirky personality. I used to hate her, in this show but as i kept watching the series I love her and lances relationship I really hope due to xmen, popularity we get this series on dvd again hope you talk about more xmen evolution characters.
People often look at Kitty’s powers too much at face value as just phasing through things. Thing outside the box about her powers. Shouldn’t it be possible for Kitty to climb up walls like Spider-Man? How? You ever noticed like how Kitty phased through the floor of a helicopter and hung from there? She controls the atoms of objects to phase or solidify her own. Can’t she phase her fingertips on a wall and align the atoms far and close enough to move upward the wall?
But if she phases her fingers into a wall and unphases to climb, wouldn't she lose her fingers? I never saw Kitty as particularly powerful, and that's what makes her interesting since she has to rely more on creative thinking. Not every mutant should be a powerhouse. There are plenty of mutants with harmless powers like breathing underwater or detecting lies.
@@vetarlittorf1807 in the cyclops story I have been working on I created a scenario of kitty is place. I felt like Kitty's character was strongest in the first half of the show, like the first 2 seasons, but just became a second Jean in the second half of the show, so she felt redundant and even annoying at times. In the second half of the show, she lost some of her valley girl ways and wasn't as funny or interesting. Her character growth became very static. We already had Jean. We didn't need two Jeans. I think the writers weren't sure what else to do with her. I'll always have a soft spot for Kitty because Lancitty was my first ever ship💘 I'm so glad they got back together before they ended the show💖🥰🖤Kitty and Lance were always great together on this show! They had a rough start, but they were freaking adorable together! 💘For me and my friends at the time, they were one of our first a bad boy trying to be better for a good girl trope I guess, and it hit hard for us! Lance Alvers/Avalanche is still a character many ladies like. Good video! Spike Cam and Grim Reminder were great character episodes for Kitty after her intro episode. Kitty's never done it for me in the comics or other shows either. I always end up liking Emma Frost more. In the comics and other shows, Emma Frost just appeals to me more than Kitty does. X-Men Evolution is my favorite version of the character.
She never became a second Jean. She never filled a big sister role like Jean did. And I disagree that she was static. In later seasons she was much more confident and a lot less dorky than she was in the first half of the show. She's also a lot more proactive, as shown in the Danielle Moonstar episode.
Same. And only partly because I kinda ship her and Rogue (helped by having read a... mature fanfiction of specifically these versions of the characters where Kitty is able to control her powers enough that she can be just solid enough that Rogue can feel her touch without Rogue's powers affecting Kitty).
I LOOOOOOVE cartoon kitty, comic kitty? ………. Its the writers fault and thats ALL I’m gonna say but to give you a hint. She loves to say trigger with an N.

🗣️They're not beating Goku!
Mate, are ya gonna ever talk about the later seasons? Spyke, Cyclops and this. All Season 1.
Please do a lance video next please!
Hope you're having a good day
Ngl it feels like these are the only versions of the character you've dealt with.
Odd question, why aren’t any of your videos opening with adds? Or have any for that matter, it’s striking is all lol
Nah they have them u just got an ad blocker or are extremely lucky
Cutie Kitty😍
Shouldn't Logan have smelt Kitty and Kurt when he got in the jet?
video good, lots of commercials annoying.
Have you seen Wolverine and the X-Men?

I personally can't stand lance and Kitty's relationship in the entirety of X-Men evolution
Same. And only partly because I kinda ship her and Rogue (helped by having read a... mature fanfiction of specifically these versions of the characters where Kitty is able to control her powers enough that she can be just solid enough that Rogue can feel her touch without Rogue's powers affecting Kitty).
@@testytest69420 I'd ship kitty with basically anyone as long as it isn't Lance lol. He always came across as abusive the entire show anyway
I LOOOOOOVE cartoon kitty, comic kitty? ………. Its the writers fault and thats ALL I’m gonna say but to give you a hint. She loves to say trigger with an N.
10:39 "only child" or "very few siblings" you goes pick one bruh😂
Different interpretations have different amount of sibling and the info was conflicting in my brain 😔
@@Venxous ahh, fair enough I get it. Lol
@@Venxouswait what? lmao 😂
