  • The Chris Craft has been a great yacht since we got the engines running after a 15-20 yr siesta. Now the Commander 410 decided it didn't want to run anymore. We detail the engine problems tear down carnage for you today.

    i hope iam so lucky as you i have 2 x 8V-92 TA engines and 1 is not very well, great vidio by the way thank you

      Yeah those engines are HEAVY to work on. You need a crane to remove parts! I hope that one keeps going.

    Did you ever find the root cause of the burnt/deteriorating exhaust valves? Almost makes me wonder if timing was too high and it was detonation damage l.

      I am pretty confident it was the unleaded gas of the last 20 years that did it. The distributor was a bit messed up when I blueprinted it and was only giving 5 degrees advance at 2000rpm. So maybe it had 15 degrees total at 2000. No vacuum advance on these dizzys. It would require 40 or 50 plus degrees advance to make this low comp 454 rattle at part throttle.
