This reminds me of my late grandfathers old truck. It was a 79 f250 that same baby blue as the cab on this one. It had the 351M with 4 speed and 4x4. He always claimed that newer trucks were getting too comfy and his 79 ford was when they still built trucks lol.. He had trucks after that, but the 79 was always our favorite and will always be "Grandpa's truck". Us kids rode in it with him while pulling the camper to our yearly camping trip with the grandparents and cousins. I still smell his cigars and pipe tobacco smoke. Some people just don't understand the connection us car enthusiasts make with these vehicles. Its like a song that takes you back to a better time and place. I miss that man and that truck.

My dad passed away a few weeks ago and I have great memories of riding in his truck that was like this one when I was little. It was a green color and he used to always go up these hills near our house because I enjoyed that so much. I can't wait to see this truck you're working on all fixed up. I have really enjoyed your videos. Keep up the great work.

I’d love to see a cheap “resto” to show some of us we don’t need Sema quality work to have a great rig!
    Here are my suggestions:
    Fresh tires
    Fix power steering
    Alternator
    Fix 4x4 yoke
Minor bodywork (fix hole in roof and spritz with some Turbo cans)
    Retrofit some non-moldy seats
    Big ass bumper!
    Winch?
    Shazam, badass offroad rig!
Make it the Mcool Recov Rig!

Right after high school (graduated in may of 1980) my best friend bought a new 1980 Ford F-150 4x4 with a 300 six cylinder and four speed bulldog transmission. We took that thing in places the majority of people wouldn’t believe. With a lot of parts and work you can turn that old rig into something that will go almost anywhere you point it. I really enjoyed this episode!

That truck is a great platform for a trail rig. Dont give up on it yet. Dont waste your time on the front drum brakes or factory ram assist power steering. Swap both out for late 70's components. Slap a cheap spool in the rear axle for a huge boost in traction. That transfer case looks to be a 208-not original but not a terrible case either. Not as syrong as a 205, but much lower low range. I am a lifelong Ford wheeler so let me know if you need assistance with it.

I drove a truck exactly like this with unmatching colored panels on it for a few years. It had a 460 Big block it was a factory high boy. It had a motor knock in it from the day I bought it. I drove it for 2 years this way. It never left me stranded it never got stuck it went through every mud hole and crushed everything I ever ran over. I truly miss this old beater amd parking it next to the brand new truck in parking lot. It sure is a special thing driving a paid for truck that you know you can beat on with zero remorse. I will never underestimate an old ugly Ford because I have experience with them.

Also, it kinda reminds me of Bob Chandler's first iteration of BigFoot!!! In keeping with the cheap nature of that truck, I'd get some bright blue paint, throw in some metal shavings in, and give it a couple of licks of paint to mimick BigFoot's metallic blue paint!!!

I saw that on yours, the power steering pump is driven directly from the crank. On some of the later 70s Fords, the water pump and power steering are driven from the same belt. So, replacing the power steering is kinda necessary in those cases unless you get a shorter belt.
I hope you do more 4-wheel drive vehicles in the futures. Yes, please do more to that truck, it has a lot of potential. Even if it never leaves your property, it looks like it would be a lot of fun on the trails you have.

I would go for sorting out a new alt, then maybe a new front drive shaft? Then she would be more usable but then only with some standard issues to fix, like not wanting to stay running, etc. But there is some fun potential there, so I think she needs her time to shine.

Dylan it's always a pleasure to watch your videos. I pray God's many blessings. I see this as your Ministery. You reach out and touch so many lives. Praise God. One side note can you PLEASE fix the exhaust . it sounds awful but I do love the truck. My uncle was nuts about those year fords before he passed away. Lots of great memories. Thank you.

Word of advice on the flooding issue. If you're going to run an electric pump, put a pressure regulator on it. Carbureted vehicles only require 5-8 psi of pressure. You're pushing fuel past the needle.

Always want to see more Ford from a Mopar Maniac. Love the video Dylan and still have a Ford steering wheel (used) from my 68 F250 if you want it.
