    Thank you for posting this opening with the premiere of Card Game, with it's original staging and game play. It really was smart for them to have put both the host and the contestant on one side, as it was awkward for Bob to have to hold the microphone over the table. Producers could have installed a second mic on the contestant side, but that would have required more cost and setup/wiring.

    I honestly had no idea the Card Game was that old on “The Price Is Right.” It’s one of my favorite pricing games whenever I watch it. People would sometimes get confused about what they need to do to win, so with the spread range being more obvious with the way it is now just makes it more clear.

      On the Pluto TV TPIR The Barker era channel they show the first season then seem to jump to like 1981 or '82 I'd like to see some mid '70's episodes

    • @meyerj75
      @meyerj75 7 дней назад +1

      @@MoparTech Pluto started off airing the 11th season of TPIR for those reasons:
      *) Once the show's contract with Zimman Furs was up, they would no longer be able to display animal fur coats anymore. I don't how many times up to 1982 they did so, but I assume it was random as the pre 1982 are not banned completely.
      *) The dark orange and purple turntable set. I guess TPIR fans are more accustomed and familiar with the purple set that would last more 2 decades on the show than the tacky red-orange which ran from 1975-82 which is nowhere near nightmare fuel material.
      *) It was the first season under a normal production schedule with episodes running from September to early July with 2 months off. Prior to that, it was very common for game shows to air episodes without repeats especially when it was done live, something that NBC was commonly known for. During the 1981-82 season, Bob Barker lost his wife Dorothy Jo from lung cancer as she was a heavy smoker then. Barker was devastated and needed time off during his "grievance" period as repeats of previous shows dating back to 1980 where airing. Ironic enough, another unrelated game show, "Bullseye" was using 2/3rds of the studio space to tape their shows, especially during the "Celebrity Bullseye" period where celebrities were the contestants playing for charity. Taping resume regularly (and for now on) that September (1982) once Bob was well enough to continue on without Dorothy Jo's presence around. (Pluto states that the entire 11th, 12th, and 13th seasons are safe to air as they don't not contain animal fur products or "Bump", the latter is uncertain as they have aired at least two episodes with "Bump" including Johnny Olson's final announcing episode (11-21-1985).)

    The number styling fonts on the show's own deck of cards resemble that of the dollar amounts during the "face the devil" bonus game on The Joker's Wild which was still on CBS at the time and would successfully go against NBC's very obscure "Winning Streak" for the next 6 months. The Price Is Right's next door neighbor was Match Game '74 and would have killing ratings galore that would place it as the #1 daytime game show for 5 consecutive years. TPIR's survival at the time was due to Match Game's success before moving back to late mornings (where it still stands to this day) where it was able to compete against NBC's game show lineup even though it took them many years to defeat Wheel Of Fortune, which was do well in syndication and like its competitor, is still on to this day.
