I had a dream Jankovic came back and was ready to play some tennis😂
As an Iga fan, there was one moment when Iga was crying and Radwanska was trying to console her. I was tickled by that. I definitely want to give credit to Iga's rivals for finally getting a win off of Iga. At this point, Coco went on a run winning the DC tournament, a 1000 event, and her maiden slam. Sabalenka set up her confidence at the end of 2022 to start 2023 by winning her maiden slam at the Australian Open. Jessica and Iga have had good words toward each other and I appreciate that about Pegula. Total class act. Her consistency in the top 10 of women's singles is so amazing. I hope Zheng wins gold for Team China. Even though Kudermetova has not had a good year at all in singles, she did win that title after she defeated Swiatek in that quarterfinal. Overall Iga should be proud she has had a great season on tour with 5 titles and an Olympic medal.

@@lukadordevic1718 Yes, nowhere near the best player. Confirmed by her awful display against Pegula in the US Open Quarters. Not only did she lose badly but she hit wilder shots (going miles out) than someone ranked 100 in the world.
She just can't deal with pace on the ball. Well done Pegula for playing great, agressive tennis, another player who has copped on.

No, honey. It's about where and when you win that matters most. She got gold on clay at RG besting the favorite on her most dominant surface at her most dominant Slam. Chances to win gold don't come around often & certainly not on clay. Last time Olympics were played on clay before Paris 2024 was Barcelona 1992.

@@got2bjosh as you say, yes and no. Based on what you say the video should last just a minute and a half. And, can you tell me, please, how many small tournaments Iga is playing nowadays? Then... Every win and every loss for Iga is happening in a big tournament. Masters 1000 and grand slams. And of course I'm not expecting her to win 100%. So, again , a single loss is not a big revenge. Even if it's in Olímpic Games in Paris on clay.

Personally, this can happen. In fact, this is likely to happen. But you have to give credits for all her rivals for being able to pull a win out of her. Imagine, having a specific player that is playing the sport that you have always been dreaming to becoming a champion in it, and then losing that same player for about 7 times until you finally get a win. I love Iga. But I have to be impressed with Zheng and the other rivals, here. Somehow, being a Vietnamese, I only feel slightly guilty supporting a Chinese right now. But they rock!

It's not "revenge." If that's the case then all previous number ones have had to suffer "revenge." Any player will try to beat a number one or any player higher ranked than them, that's the way it is.

I know that you wrote "in a row" but it has to be said that both Sabalenka and Pegula actually won their first ever matches against Świątek (WTA Finals 2021 and Citi Open 2019, respectively).

It goes without saying but she's world number one, if she didn't play subpar to her normal level she wouldn't have lost. Just appreciate the insight. It's not what being a sore loser means.

And is this a general rule? The day before losing to Quinwen, Swiatek had a very unpleasant encounter with Collins, who did everything to insult Swiatek and damage her. I also remember such grievances (yours?) after losing to Putitnseva, whom Iga did not congratulate -- forgetting that Putintseva, having lost to Swiatek earlier, did not congratulate her.

Look, Iga’s a great player with amazing accomplishments, and I hope she continues to have a wonderful career. However, for whatever reason, I simply can’t bring myself to enjoy her as number 1; she doesn’t have likable personality IMO and gives off major tryhard vibes(taking into account the “bathroom” breaks between losing a set and other actions of that nature). Plus, as with every popular player on tour, she has very annoying and cocky fans. Ik this sounds extremely petty and it is, just can’t explain my “irrational” dislike to her but I wish her the best nonetheless😅❤
