    This m3 sounds Mazing. Nice job. I know you are running catless headers. But are you running cats at some point in the chain? Are you completely catless? Is section 1 stock or added resonators? Just Trying to understand exactly what went into this great sounding car. I have one myself with just an eisenmann race (blahhh I know but I got it cheap). Wondering if something as nice sounding as this can be achieved. Hence my questions. Thanks in advance

      @BuzzytheBlue  5 лет назад +3

      I’m a bit jaded as all of my cars are fairly loud. But, I don’t think it has a ridiculously loud cold start, certainly enough to hear but nothing compared to a cammed muscle car or the likes.

  • @EtherTheVoid

    Have you had any issues with the Dinan tune and the headers? I have Dinan stage 4 and call them to ask if it was necessary to adjust the tune after installed aftermarket or euro headers and they said they recommend changing it out at all as it may have issues with the tune. Seems strange considering the US spec headers are largely one of the first things you'd want to change to get more power.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  4 года назад +1

      Never had an issue with the Dinan tune and headers. The tune will definitely need to be adjusted if going from catted to catless headers, this M3 was tuned from stock on the day the headers went on. It’s been too long for me to remember the specific one that was installed but the car has ran great for years.

    great vid brotha! Question, if they are catless can you pass inspection?

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  3 года назад +1

      Depending on where you live it’s either easy, tricky, or impossible. I’m in the tricky category. We’ve gotten this exact car through CT emissions fully catless by clearing the codes, doing a drive cycle, and having it tested before the CEL came back. So it “checked ready” but no codes were present yet. Somewhere like California this wouldn’t be possible.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  3 года назад +1

      Thanks. Very raspy with this setup, at low RPM it was all rasp haha. But obviously sounded epic when driving quickly. We went to a CPI section 1 that retained this tone but eliminated the rasp.

      Wallex Bijou The Megan is loud, very very loud. If you’re cool with people hearing you 2 miles away then it’s my first choice. Also, zero drone. Keep in mind that’s all with the headers on as well, I never heard the car in person with JUST the axle back on.

  • @USM3C
    @USM3C 4 года назад

    I know this is an old post, but I'm still following it as I'm inching closer to making a decision on the exhaust set-up. My question to you Buzzy; how manageable is this set-up around town at lower RPMs in terms of volume? Have you been pulled over or gotten tickets because of the exhaust volume?

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  4 года назад +1

      Surprisingly in the years this car has been driven with this setup, the volume has never an issue. However, I’ll say this, it is likely too loud for daily use, I would add a catted or “rasp ruminator” section 1 to tame it slightly. No drone at any RPM though.

    • @USM3C
      @USM3C 4 года назад

      @@BuzzytheBlue I greatly appreciate your response. Do you get exhaust fumes in the cabin now? My mechanic told me that would happen with this setup.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  4 года назад +1

      USM3C I’ll put it this way, this is my mother’s car and she has never complained about fumes/smell. If the smell bothered you could always add a catted section 1 to address it. Only time you’d notice it at all is likely with the car parked idling for long periods of time.

      I’ll add, I currently have a megan racing muffler (rest is oem) and debating on status gruppe headers or rouge rasp pipe, should I purchase just headers or would the car sound better with the additional rasp pipe? Also in terms of loudness, how much louder is the car just muffler Megan racing vs adding the status gruppe headers? Thanks!

    How would this be with a borla exhaust?

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  4 года назад

      It would likely sound very similar. The biggest change in the cars tone comes from the headers. The axle back mufflers really just change the overall volume.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  6 лет назад +1

      Nick Kilgore To be honest I know nothing about the Megan headers, that seems REALLY cheap though. Personally I’d be springing for the Status Gruppe at like $750 as they’re a known quantity that produce nice gains/sound. But, at the same time, Megan’s axle back for the M3 seems to be high quality metal work. Could be worth a shot.

    • @nick_kilgore
      @nick_kilgore 6 лет назад

      BuzzytheBlue I ended up getting them and the fittment was great, it did have a slightly relocated 02 bung but it still fit up fine, amazing sounds though and I can definitely feel a gain without tuning yet. Good welds and nice thickness of everything as well as materials. I recommend them to anyone looking for a good deal, haven’t heard of any bad fittments yet but I’ve personally had a great experience so far

      Yep, entirely catless. Section 1 is completely stock. The only changes to the exhaust in this video are the headers and muffler. I bet with a set of headers you’d be thrilled with your car. Your eisenmann race with your choice of headers should be an awesome combo. I have Status Gruppe on the M3 and Z4M and have been very impressed.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  2 года назад

      I’m not certain honestly. I think if you were going to run cats anywhere else in the system it would be in the section 1. Catted section 1 with O2 monitors could potentially get you through inspection. That’s something to research for wherever you live though.
