The entire choreography is african dances combined especially west African. The album is titled Black is king 👑. The beat and sound are afrobeat. The video is directed by a Nigerian 🇳🇬 man. Shatta Wale is Ghanaian 🇬🇭 The men jumping in purple suits symbolize the Kenyan 🇰🇪 massai traditional dance. The animal print clothing and horses are northern Ghanaian vibe. The livestock ( goats) heading too. The spinning car in circle is one of South Africa’s 🇿🇦 dangerous sports. One of the hairstyle Beyoncé had is called Bantu knots, it’s a very popular African hairstyle which originated from the Bantu people of Africa. This song symbolizes African royalty. There are many Royal Dynasties in the continent of Africa than any part of the world 🌎
In conclusion this song shows the royalty in blackness. #blackpower

Beyonce used a lot of African spiritual symbolism in her video presentation, which I find amazing. A lot of this is being suppressed or pushed aside in favour of Christianity and Islam in Africa today, but is still very much alive. The horned headdress she wears while sitting on a horse is a depiction of the ancient Egyptian goddess Hathor who is usually depicted as a woman with the head of a cow, symbolising love, fertility and wealth. It is quite symbolic that she uses the colours and patterns of the cow as in many parts of Africa in ancient times and even today, cows represent wealth. The disc between the horns represent the sun which was revered throughout Africa. Africans paint themselves in various colours as part of ceremonial activity which mean different things. e.g green representative of vegetation, fertility. Water is always spirituality. She seems to be depicting African spirituality e.g Oshun worship which always has to do with water. The theme I pick from this is harking back to a time in history when Africans were proud people, Kings and Queens long before colonialism and slavery. It is a call to remember and wake up!!Very, very symbolic!

Beyonce is representing different African cultures throughout the video. Here are some of the symbolism I picked up:
Different African tribes use body paint to signify different things like hunting, social and religious reasons, during ceremonies and military purposes, or just for decoration.
@ - I'm not sure which tribe he represents but the green/teal is a symbol of life, growth freshness, and healing.
@ - Bey is rocking Bantu knots which originated from the Zulu people of South Africa, a Bantu ethnic group. The Bantu are found mostly in Southern and East Africa. I'm from South Africa.
@ - Queen is wearing a traditional Nigerian headgear called Gele. It's mostly worn in wedding ceremonies or special occasions.
@ - The guy in red could be from the Himba people of Namibia or the Maasai who smear themselves with red ochre [for beautification or during ritual ceremonies]
@ - The car spinners are from South Africa.
@ - Locs are worn by different tribes for different reasons from beauty to symbolizing warriors. As for the jump, new Maasai warriors jump to show their strength and attract a bride.
As for the dances, they are current African dances from different regions, mostly West and South Africa.

There are so many other messages also.

  • @ninasamone87

Her saying you’re a king already, is her pretty much talking about black people/ black men have been kings throughout history, and her letting future black men and young black boys know they come from kings. Basically they are already kings.
No disrespect, but this is waaaayyy bigger than Jay z. He’s apart of it on the basis that he’s a black man that is a descendant of Africans, but it’s way bigger than him. She’s referring to young black men in general.
    It’s a very uplifting song.

she is talking to all the black people....we are and were already kings in our lands and we traveled across the world before colonialization ....we are all of african descent ....so black people around the world..shine already youre a KING ya know it...and if ya didnt know now you know....black is king..periodt...thank you beyonce for giving all of our culture and the creation of world culture a true depiction...from dance to music to dress to hair styles...black is KING

Its bantu knots a traditionally African hairstyle. It does look like a crown and she stuck to African styles for the video. The theme of the video is to say that the social ladder highest place(royalty) usually reserved for people of a particular ancestry is not unique to one family but rather exists in black people through their mind body and spirit. Also beyonce is showing her love for the black diaspora with her reach into Africa. Its a love message for black people across the world. Its beautiful. I cried watching the film. You guys should watch that too!
