Honestly, Black is King is better than the Lion King movie reboot Disney made. I was blown away by the visuals and the storyline.
rachel lara where can I watch it for free ?
Yes!!!!!
@@leslie226 bktubeworld is where I did or blktubeword
BelizeHunni thanks
leslie Disney plus is free for 7 days
Most of the people in this video are Africans not African American, and yes the genre is Afrobeat and that’s how we Africans dance to Afrobeats
Facts im zulu what tribe you from
grace mccray I’m an Ewe from Ghana
@@EnidBylton4958 very cool nice to finally talk to someone who knows the struggle as a black woman
grace mccray ❤️😊 We should always stick together
@@EnidBylton4958 👍🏾gh sister
Beyonce recently came to Africa and she used different African elements and dance styles. So this is sort of an Afrobeat style. Thank youuuuuu❤️❤️❤️✊🏿✊🏿
🙌🏾✊🏾
I honestly was a little surprised that you guys know Burna Boy.😅 It would be nice if you could react to African Music. ❤️
RIGHT???
Been requesting for that😕
It is possible that they may know Burna Boy because a famous Korean hip hop artist 'Changmo' was on the remix for 'own it' (with Ed Sheehan and Burna Boy)
OH. MY. GOD. YES!!
duchess idowu Yeah you are right. Forgot about it.
I'm so glad Beyonce decided to use her platform to shine on the beauty and diversity of Africa and I'm glad u guys reacted to 'Already' Please react to 'Brown skin girl' featuring Wiz Kid (a Nigerian artist) and Blu Ivy Carter (Beyonce's daughter)
Yemi Alade - "Shekere"
Yemi Alade - "Johnny"
She is a famous Nigerian artist
Yes please react to Johny from Yemi Alade
This video was shot in Ghana. The guy dancing with her is from Nigeria. She's giving you various styles of African culture.
those are African Americans in the part where the ladies are posing and in the part where the guys are hype and Beyonce and Shatta Wale is in front of them, the shot with Bey and Shatta was shot here in America, the other shots are of Africans
It's been debunked a few times in Ghana by the media and the dancers that the video wasn't shot in Ghana
Please the dancers are not Nigerians, they are Ghanaians and the name of their leader is called "Dance God" their part was shot in Ghana
@@universaltempleoftruth2176 yes, you are right the dancers in green are Ghanaian, the scene was shot in Nima
Universal Temple of Truth I watched the guy painted green dancing with her in an interview. He said he was Nigerian but he currently lives in America.
As an African, I would recommend you to react or listen to KiDi, Tiwa Savage, Yemi alade. Davido, Wizkid, Stonebwoy, Mr. Eazi, King Promise, Jeoy B, Burna Boy and JoeBoy. They are all very talented. Afrobeat is really good and you are going to love it
I'm American with Jamaican ethnicity. I love Tiwa, Yemi, Tekno, Chief Obi, David, Falz & Simi, Iyanya, and the list goes on.
And sarkodie
Sauti sol and diamond
Thx for not leaving tiwa savage, wizkid, Burna boy and our yemi Alade mama out 😘😘💯
OMG ALL OF THESE ARTISTS ARE AMAZING. living in an african household i know all of them
I really appreciate you guys learning & enjoying African & African American music/culture.
Yes!! Afrobeat is an amazing genre to get into, it just makes you dance
5:19😂 Yes Son, what Beyonce did there is a very popular African dance move, she did quite a number of our dance moves like 5:52 is called gbese it's a Nigerian dance move 4:46 is called zubit it's Ghanaian. It's always amazing to see someone portray African people in a good light most times we're seen as lesser beings and this visual album did the opposite. The cultural representation of the continent was artistic and beautiful and I'm glad that you guys enjoyed it. React to more song like Brown Skin girl and My power you will love it. I love you guys ❤❤
Yes it is a afro beat it a type of beat used in different African songs
The Korean artists you have mentioned are influenced by African culture so that’s why it reminds you of them lol and just in general the Korean music industry is heavily influenced by African culture and they’re not the only ones who are
Those are not African Americans people.. Those are just africans people 😊
Some might be African American lol
Arigato Kiss yes lol
Beyoncé’s African American but I know what y’all mean
They are black either way
The word they use '흑인' (heuk-in) directly translates to 'black people' and from what I know, it's commonly interchanged with African or African-american. I wonder why the translator chose AA instead though.
They have green paint because it means LIFE. Not sure if this is true but this is what I heard lol, but thank you for reacting to this! this makes my African American self happy! I’ve been trying to get other people to react to this song and “My power” 🗿
I think blue paint is a symbol for an ancestor. There is many old accounts that talk about someone skins being so black its blue and a lot of cultural rituals involve paint in some cultures in Africa. Also a play on (in the UK, I'm not sure if it's well known in other places) we call royalty "blue blooded". That's what I think anyway.
Green is life
how to begin. this single is from the album "lion king king : the gift" which is like a love letter to Africa. after this album she has released a documentary called "black is king" on Disney+ and this is litteraly the visual album of lion king : the gift, she created a new concept by the way. With this doc she wanted that blacks from all the diaspora to reconnect with their african roots and pay tribute to Africa and its culture. she has collaborated with african and afro descendants artist, from songs to make up, to costumes...everything. So you should watch the MV of this album/doc it's simply amazing :
-water
-my power
- brown skin girl
-mood 4 eva
-keys of the kingdom
-ja ara e
-don't jealous me
- find your way back
-nile
-bigger
-spirit
-scar
Mood 4 eva is THE BEST!
@@rachellara544 My Power and Find Your Way Back is the best for me
The Music and Visuals sound better and come together when you watch the whole movie. It might not make sense on it's own, like how they were confused about how it ended that way for this video.
@@inoasf9075 yeah my power!!!!!
@@rachellara544 and then i listen an another song and i change my mind aahhh. but i love my power and water
The moves she did at 5:15 is a dance made by an Ivorian artist called Dj Arafat, he passed away one year ago, it’s called ‘’C’est moi” (I think). All the dances moves you saw in the mv are from different countries in Africa( Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast) and yes it’s Afrobeat. You can search MHD afro trap, he made a lot of songs with afrobeat, if you want to know more about it. The painton their bodies is a cultural thing in some african countries from what my friends told me.
Yep the body paint is done in many African cultures for different reasons; spirituality, ceremonies etc. I would love if they reacted to my power too, cause the choreography blew me away.
Moon Chill in my country we paint our bodies with white clay for some rituals, I’ve never seen green! They should definitely react to my power, everything in the video is perfect!
@@laurynpascale8811 in mine they use some kind of white, red and green powder on the face, shoulders and belly. Yes I'm loving all this black is king visuals!
The beat is afro beat and the dancing and visuals are inspired by African cultures (mostly west Africa). I hope you guys can react to more African artists and also I recommend listening/reacting to "my power" from the album also. The whole black is king album/doc is a love letter of sorts to black roots/Africa.
Right. When the guy brought up "twerking" 🙄 I said to myself that this is all that they think of Black artists.... as twerkers.
Prayers answerd. I think people have been asking for a long time to react to afrobeat music. We'll take beyonce for now, but please do artists from Nigeria, Ghana etc. I loved this reaction to this video.. keep them coming guys
It’d be interesting to see them to react to Yope. That’s a whole bop
It’s a cultural thing to paint their bodies in Africa.Africans have painted their bodies for thousands of years, and many societies continue to practice traditional body painting. Some African groups, however, have abandoned body painting altogether or discarded the traditional meanings of their body painting rituals and turned the practice into an activity done purely to attract tourists.
Well, Beyonce familiarized you with Afrobeats and you know of Burna boy, can we see more African music? We have amazing music... From all over Africa. 💜💜 Loved this.
Yes it's afro-beat. The dances are African as well...
You guys should really listen to some more afrobeats! Songs like Iskaba by Wande Coal and Dumebi by Rema ☺️
Loveeeee iskaba!
THISSSSSS.
Louder
Yesss Dumebi
His song woman is good too
Even in a moment where we're just enjoying this multicultural vibe, y'all (commenters) have to bring division into it? Y'all know what they meant so cut it out and stop trying to make it messy. OBVIOUSLY, they know that it's a mixed collection of Black people in the video because they know that Beyonce is from the States and Shatta Wale is from Ghana. So it stands to reason that the rest of the artists in the video will be a mixture of different backgrounds. News Flash: WE ALL STILL BLACK. The word that was used literally translates to "Black person" so PLEASE GET OVER YOURSELVES AND LET US HAVE THIS. Anyway, I appreciate this review and I'm happy that you guys enjoyed the music and the video. And I think it's dope that you even recognize Afrobeat and know who Burna Boy is. I can't speak everyone else in the comments, but this was really refreshing for me to see. There is so much dope talent coming out from all across Africa and I hope we can enjoy more of it together.
It was litteraly African music type, with african dances 🤣❤️
YES!!! But don't stop here! React to some more African hits from around the continent!! I'd looove to see you guys learn to love afrobeat music and dance. There's so much going on there
Yes you are correct! It is Afro-Beat! It is spreading throughout the African Diaspora even more and getting even more popular in the North America and Europe. These places have large concentrations of African migrants from all the countries in Africa. Normally, you would encounter afro-beats if you are around them since they play it a lot at their parties and in their daily life.
I learnt more about afro-beats from the African students at my university in Toronto. A lot of them have clubs and associations based on their home countries that host tons of events. They also love spreading their culture in general to basically anyone who comes to their door. We also have a multi-cultural week where they go all out and basically win everything (Fashion Show, Food, Talent Contest {they out perform everyone}, etc.) The African and Caribbean students tend to hang out a lot and it is really fun since they share their culture with each other. I tried to learn how to dance from the African students and failed. I can hit the Gwara Gwara though since it's the easiest! I am quite proud of myself! I probably can hit the Zubit to if they show me as well, but I am not in Canada right now.
Your afro-beat journey will be amazing and is most definitely something worth getting into. And if you can, learn about it from an African. It is way more fun and insightful that way! I am really happy Beyonce brought more awareness to these talented artists, and showcased the beauty and diversity of Africa. Normally, all we see is poverty and slavery, and I am tired. I was gagging the entire time watching Black is King. I was like yes sis!
The project includes africans all over the world, including America. It's a collective expression of black beauty and unity.
Aside Beyonce everyone in and on the song is African. Most of the directors particularly in these video are Africans specifically Ghanaians. The artist Beyonce collaborated with is also Ghanaian.
those are African Americans in the part where the ladies are posing and in the part where the guys are hype and Beyonce and Shatta Wale is in front of them, the shot with Bey and Shatta was shot here in America, the other shots are of Africans
You will have to watch black is king to understand the video. The blue guy is supposed to be simbas spirit guide and conscience. There is a lot of african folklore and traditional religion in Black is King, but its the story of young simba finding himself. A message to black peoples all across the world, to find the power and beauty within themselves
Also the dance movement is an African dance trend from 2019 to 2020
Going through the comment section...I'm really surprised and glad to see lots of Africans and Nigerians do watch this channel...It felt like meeting a friend far away from home.
@7:47.. I agree, the beat, music and video were very good! I really enjoyed it.
This album is a tribute to Black people and the Black experience not just African-American Black people, there are many different kinds of Black people in the world, but Beyonce shows through this stunning visual album that, Black is varied, Black is talented, Black is beautiful, Black is excellent and Black is ultimately king.
Great reaction video and thank you for actually doing some research before reacting 👍🏾
Thanks so much for this reaction, am grateful. we have a lot of amazing musician out here, please do more reaction on them. Shattawale, stonebowy, sarkodie, kidi, king promise, kelvyn boy, kwesi Arthur and more. much love from Ghana.

Great job guys! So fun! You guys dancing to Afrobeats was everything!! Did Son say he was twerking in his heart??!!😆😂😂
Son, Kuk.. awesome dancing!! I love it!!
I looovvveeeeee JUST REACTS❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
African Americans and other black people in the African diaspora globally have our links to West Africa predominantly. I think her Black is King does a great job of incorporating Afrobeats of Africa into American pop music and connects us. I think persons in the Caribbean and those in Latin American can hear the familiar beats that are in all our music because we have retention of certain styles still today. So this is iconic also this is my favourite song from her visual album. He easily also sounds like singers and djs from Jamaica and the afrobeat sounds like our traditional music in some parts.
Wow... I beat my youtube notification here.. was already watching, when it popped up! 🤣🤣
I thought it was cool to see your reaction to Afrobeats and ig music inspired by/ from Africa for the first time. Like seeing you guys say tis is a style of musical production you’re not familiar with but still giving with it and liking it was nice to see.
I love the fact that you guys did a research on shatter Wale and the music video as a whole 💯❤️
Africa to the world y’all ✊🏼🙌🏾
Omg that behind the scenes made my day
Afribeat is amazing. Africa is amazing and have always been. It’s a shame how no one recognizes how amazing it is. But we are here always. Africa for life.
I need to help the boys with their dancing 😂😂😂❤️🖤
They were making fun of the traditional African dances....
robin volpi if you knew them, you would know that that is not what they were doing. They are not one to make fun of anyone’s culture.
robin volpi stop thinking that everyone makes fun of people tradition 🙄🙄they were just trying to make some of the dance moves
@@cynthianapaulemon476
Excuse me, but who are you to dictate or determine how one responds to something? And on a public forum, for that matter...? You're not any more of a Mighty Oracle blessed with some divine wisdom to know someone's intentions, than I am. Therefore I can share my observations as freely as you do.
robin volpi I’m just saying that you should not say those things cause it was not what they were doing 🙂
I'm really glad you guys a reacting to this. Most especially that u did a little research on Shatta Wale before reacting. I'm a proud Ghanaian and Shatta Wale has one of the biggest fandoms in Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cote d'voire, US,South Africa, Jamaica I mean everywhere. His fanbase is called SM for Life meaning Shatta Movement for Life and when we say 'for Life' it means "for Life" no turning back.
Papapapa, CHAAMPIONNNN,REIGN. Papapapa
The genre is a form of afrobeat, it is often fast paced and with various vigorous dance styles. You should react to more afrobeat songs and African artists like burna boy, davido, tiwa savage, etc.
please react to “MY POWER” by beyoncé:) you can find the MV in youtube

I love how you guys recreate the video it makes me so happy haha
The body paint is done by almost every tribe in Africa but in a variety of colours, we use white, black and sometimes red in my tribe. It can sometimes symbolise spirituality or your status in society or maybe just for beauty.
