      Thanks! That is what we are hoping. It was strange, I thought once we saw signs of previous mining in the creek we would end up with just a few tenths of a gram.

    I'd try digging up some of that clay . It could have gold in the top layer of it. Being it has decent size rocks in it! Depending on how hard it is. Maybe use a auger in a drill while dredging! Only catching the chunks a bucket or trough at the end of the sluice! Or use a concrete drill and drill out enough to get a hammer and chisel to break out chunks! As a kid I used to dig up a dark grey clay in a creek! It was about 10' below ground level ! Below the red clay soil we have in the Appalachian foothills . It was loaded with a fine gold grit. Like a sand slightly more coarse than the clay. I use to make stuff from it! Sit it up on the roof in summer it has to been 150° or better , that year it was 95-101°, it would get hard , not as hard as fired clay. It would hold shape after getting wet. it could dry again keep it's shape. I figure it was iron pyrite in the clay we had a ton of black silt in the area! The sinks, toilets. , washing machine, everything would get silted up with the black sand from the well. And it was only ,300 yard from the creek. And 300' deep on a slight hill so I would guess the bottom of the well was roughly 40-50' below the creek. No more than ,80'-100'. I know there is very little gold in this area, no one said here id NONE! The amount of clay I dug up, id say there was probably 1/10-2/10 of an gram of gold in it. (if it was gold) . Not sure how much clay was there it was not easy to get! It was below water, covered in red clay soil, with creek sand and gravel over it! I had to dig up under the creek bank to get it. The creek was in a valley and had come across the field over the years so I was digging in the old creek bed. It was above the new bed yet below water! It had creek gravel and sand over it then about 6' -10' of red clay soil. I'm curious if there was any gold in the clay. It had the fine black sand, all the gold mines are further east from here. It's been 30 years+ so who knows it is definitely not enough to mine if it was

    • @twodudesonedredge
      @twodudesonedredge  5 месяцев назад

      How far east are the gold mines? We should sample that. Thanks for watching.

    • @twodudesonedredge
      @twodudesonedredge  Год назад +2

      It's a very fun way to go after gold! We're in central Ak, it can be hard to find a good dredging claim. Need to look for stuff with shallow bedrock, we have a vid from last year where the over burden was 15 feet deep, almost impossible to dredge. Good luck!

    • @saltynugmonster2235
      @saltynugmonster2235 6 месяцев назад

      The noise of the dredge usually will keep the bears away and more bear attacks happen from brown bears which have been known to actively stalk people.

    • @twodudesonedredge
      @twodudesonedredge  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah we keep firearms close but have never felt compelled to carry one down on the river. I have spent time while my partner was diving thinking about the scenario if were ever to come up. I would have access to some high pressure water that I suppose may deter the bear. We saw one just outside of camp this past summer. I worry more about our stuff than ourselves most of the time.
