Done with Pasturenzi who previously went to Chiasso to buy two combined RailAway tickets via Lugano FFS, funicular to the center, bus to Cassarate and vice versa. As the downstream section was down for maintenance, there was a replacement mini bus up to Suvigliana.

Beautiful! Here in Genoa there are two funiculars and a rack railway. Like these two, all three are single track with two turnouts of the type without moving parts (without needles) designed by the Swiss engineer Roman Abt. The shorter funicular worked for years with a water counterweight, like that of Freiburg (French-speaking Switzerland), and had a two-blade Abt rack. Instead, the longer one, called del Righi (from the Swiss Rigi, the pronunciation is identical) was composed of two sections, which were then joined.

In Genoa there is a single-track railway equipped with a rack which, for the crossing of the ascending and descending carriages, makes use of Abt-type switches like this funicular. Does anyone have any idea if there are other rack railways around the world equipped with Abt type points? Thanks a lot for the collaboration
