- A video detailing the lens filter we are using on our indie film. With these videos we're looking to possibly pass on some our insights when it comes to gear and the production of an indie film, and we figured we'd start with this one.
Welcome to the world of RUclips 😊
Dude, thank you so much, honestly shocked to see your comment here. Huge fans.
algorithm bringing me some cool dudes, hope to see you around
Thank you! We think you're pretty cool too :)
another speaking head.. sick all of you. noise makers, but rubbish filmmakers
My dad has been a master portrait photographer since the 70s.
I have a whole home-made set of these in storage he made back in the day. So many oldschool hacks like this
What! Well obviously your dad is a legend, and you're sitting on the mother lode.
Dior Denier 10 is the magic number. Hold between two round filters or between filter and lens - we were using these in the 80's cool stuff
haha, man you guys had it all figured out, thanks for paving the way.
@@SomewhereinFlorida Ah yes but not for film - this is the first time I have sen it used for film - makes sense tho - good stuff - brill little film you got going there - good luck with it all - one tiny tiny little tip for photography - a lighter or a match burn the centre out!!
You could maybe use it in a 3D printed frame? Print one side, pause the print, stretch the material across the printed bit and continue the print. The material, in its stretched form, is then fixed in place
Haha always exciting to hear the 18-35 mm getting put thru the paces! I absolutely love that lens
haha, it's our favorite lens we have by far!
The stills look AMAZING! Can’t wait to see the final result-as well as your insights along the way!
Thank you! And thank you for coming on the ride. Keep pumping out the wild synth tracks.
@@SomewhereinFlorida 🥰🥰🥰🥰
For "low budget," it sure looks LEGIT!! Great work!!
Thank you!! It's definitely taken a bit of time, but we're trying hard lol.
Time to get some pantihoes.... hot daaaaamn. I been shooting film photos for like 20 years and never seen a star or mist filter that looks this insane. That 5% difference, makes 100% more force in the image. This is always the case with anything prolific. Awesome work dudes.
Hahah off to the department store you go. And very very well put sir. Thank you!
@@SomewhereinFlorida instant sub. Your clips from the movie look epic!
Well done gang! Keep going, we are here for it! Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge.
Thank you! And thank you for being here. Hopefully we continue to deliver lol.
You guys came out the gate with the banger
haha thank you! Hopefully we were able to leave an impression.
Yes. They are Dior #10 black stockings. You can buy them and stretche them and put behind the lens as well. That is what we use to do.
I can’t them anywhere, do you know where to get them?
Do you pull it over a filterframe in total? So you shoot trough 2 layers of stockings. Or do you cut it out and make a single layer? How does it work?
@@tvlmedia314 There are many ways., The old school way was you use one layer behind the lens and use gaffers tape to hold in it place. Now they make fron filters and they do amazing. I like the front filter ones better, Schneider makes some. here is one name chneider Optics 82mm True-Net Black 3 Glass Filter. They make neutral, tan, gray and black net filters. they have them in many styles you cna do a google search one them. This would be the easiest way . I would start with a black net 3 to get the most romantic and diffused look. But you can dial it back to a 1 if you just need a soft touch.
Fascinating! Great lil video, bois! I can't wait to see the final results! :D X
Thank you! Can't wait to show everyone!
lovely dudes, love the hustle
Lovely comment thank you!
Dior stockings (specifically the #10 black) were used for DECADES both behind and in front of the lens (behind meaning like, in the camera mount basically). You can see it used famously in the Godfather and I wanna say before then but I don't have the time to run through my ASC magazines for that info haha
Schneider makes a modern version mounted in glass today.
haha, freaking very cool. Listening to your Yeoman podcast rn, great stuff. Keep em coming.
I can’t this anywhere, can you drop a link please. I can’t even find the pantyhose
@@quintinx.3630 Dior hasn't made them in decades that's why the Schneider version is the only "true" option
@@SomewhereinFlorida 🙏🙏🙏
@@Owlbot yeah I don’t think they’re producing them anymore either then, I’ve been searching high and low for it.
Loved this chill style w/ 2 such chill dudes. Keep this coming 🔥
Hahah thank you! We plan on churning out some more. Hopefully keep it chill.
Excited
Hey, just wanted to say this is great stuff. Lotta people talking a big game about making a feature on a dime; not a lot follow through. Hope you guys put out more conversations about that experience
Thank you so much, this means a lot. And stay tuned we plan on saying quite a bit about it lol.
Love this, thanks for sharing and looking forward to more
Thank you! We will surely deliver more.
Great work guys!
Thank you!
Do the things and you will be famous guys! Nice duo! :)
lol we're just trying to finish our movie first. Dziękuję!
@@SomewhereinFlorida Wating for lots of BTS from the set! Big love from Poland! :)
Aye, ye olde pantihose over lens technique. Been around for a long long time.
I prefer the Glimmerglass myself. The Pantyhose tends to get towards the cheapy soap look for me. But to each their own. :)
instant sub from the first 45 secs lol
haha, we got you! Thank you!
Nice one lads
Cheers brother!
I’m so ready for your journey! ❤🎉
Thank you! very grateful to have you following along.
I am very very thankful the algorithm brought me here
We are very thankful to have you!
I loved the talk and also learning about this filter was awesome ! I've shot a couple of independent and paid short films, i'm excited to see your movie, such a crazy look, it's awesome !! cheers 🇧🇷
Cheers brother! Keep doing the thing. Love the drift video on your channel.
@@SomewhereinFlorida thanks so much ! It was an experimental video to test out this new lens and the results were great so i did a little montage, glad you liked it :)
Now i really wanna see this film
We can't wait to be able to show it to y'all!
Loved the vibe! Wish you the best!!
Thank you! All the best to you as well!
First subscriber and first like! I hope you remember me in the future xD
haha, we shall cherish you forever!
Typically it looks even better when you put in on the rear element of the lens, much more subdued.
Keep the content coming 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Bet on it!
Yo, I'm in a really similar place in my career right now in terms of making extremely low budget films while striving to make them look and feel real.
I agree that there are tips and tricks not floating around out there that are necessary in order to achieve a "real" looking movie. It took me years to figure them out, and I'm still learning. Only on my last couple of projects have I really started to nail it, I feel (neither of which I can post to my channel yet, sadly).
Looking forward to more ideas from y'all, and maybe I can share my own. Good luck finishing your film!
lol, I want to nerd out on all this but that'd be quite the long comment. I'll say though, if you're starting to feel like you're nailing it, there's no way you're not onto something. It looks like you've definitely zeroed in on a few pieces of what you want your style to be. And without all the learning and figuring it out, then where's the fun lol. I hope you can post the projects soon that you feel good about. And we'll keep trucking as long as you do the same!

@@SomewhereinFlorida Hell yeah, bro-learning, adapting, and growing is what production is all about imo. I'm down to nerd out anytime over it.
Dam this was cool
Thank you!!
That’s really nice!
the dior filtrer.... thats the thing
Yes yes yes!
Yes!
Thank you for the info.. ahah ... great video and wishing you the best of luck with your movie
lol, we're trying. Thank you for watching!
You guys are doing God's work. Going to raid my wife's panty hose drawer tomorrow and find a 4x5 frame. Best of luck on your film. Don from Lights, Camera, Tampa. 🎬👍
Haha, gotta do what you gotta do. And thank you so much fellow Florida man.
You guys broke the clips of those mics?
lolol, yeah we'll go with that.
hella vibes lads! well done
Thank you brother! Cheers!
Ok love this but what are you willing this video with? The quality is A1
hahah thank you! Blackmagic 6k pro and Sony Fx3.
Brilliant content, subscribed!
Thank you! :)
I think they used this exact filter on all of the old Emanuelle films
I think so!
Wow, never seen those but they look right up our alley. Gonna have to check them out. Thank you for the rec!
when is the movie coming out?
im the 500th like!! Woo Hoo!! But this was a dope video
lucky number 500! Thank you for watching!
Let’s go!!!❤💪🏼🙌🙌
Haha, Florida peeps gotta stick together!
Haha yes!
Dope keep them coming
That's the plan :)
❤
What happens with that filter over an anamorphic lense? Surui for the ursa plus Dior filter may be sick
I'm sure that would be awesome. we haven't tested it but I'm guessing it wouldn't be much different than any other lens?
I was thinking it may create a unique flare pattern
@@RCL802 I seee. Well hopefully we eventually get our hands on some anamorphics to test it out lol.
Super Video super vibe
Super viewer ;)
Black pro mist?
I think someone in the comments said "Schneider makes a modern version mounted in glass today" which may be the closest to what we used.
"Only have sigma art lenses" My best lens is a sigma art and i spent a year paying for it 🥲
lol, hopefully it feels like a year well spent. They are great lenses.
I felt this
SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you!
Let’s go!!!!
Yes sir!
I wanna see it
It's coming...eventually lol
hey I'm also a DP in Tampa! let me know if you need any help on set. I do sound and compose music for film also
Awesome! I tossed you a follow on the IG.
Hello fellow Floridians - cool to see there are other creators out here. Been stuck in a rut just treating it as a profession for so long, maybe you guys will inspire me to actually do something creative. 🙏
@@fofopho Man, thank you so much that's everything for us. I really hope we can do that, and can't wait for you to see the movie.
@@SomewhereinFlorida looking forward to it guys 🙏
@@fofopho And keep us posted on whatever it is you decide to do. You got this!
Do you have a link to them?
It's actually an old technique which you can make yourself! I think it's called "net diffusion".
@@SomewhereinFloridaI can‘t find anything on google, do you have a link to help me out😂
@@ibrahim.productions lol I don't, but what I've gathered from the comments is "They are Dior #10 black stockings. You can buy them and stretche them and put behind the lens as well" which those may be hard to find now, and someone else mentioned "Schneider makes a modern version mounted in glass today.". I suppose the other options outside of that would be checking google again for net diffusion pantyhose filter, I think I saw a few articles from that, and seeing if people are making their own with a more available pantyhose and then building it from scratch. I really wish I did just have a link lol.
I wanted to hear about the filter but I was too bored you guys couldn't get to the point.
Oh guys, thanks for the rabbit hole!!
lol, nothing better than a good ole rabbit hole!
