Years ago, when I purchased steel wheels to mount winter tires on, the wheels did not seem to ever be balanced. I never thought about something like these rings. But I did know that without the wheel fitting snugly over the hub on my vehicle, that the wheel wouldn't be hub centric, but lug centric. Too bad the tire place didn't have a clue. I simply returned the wheels and then purchased base model steel wheels for my vehicle, which of course fit perfectly. Now that I know about hub rings, I may buy some aftermarket wheels and hub rings someday and be confident they are hub centric.
finally seeing this. never knew what the purpose was...I haven't got around to putting them on yet but I'll definitely need to
I just bought a used vehicle that came with some fuel rims and had these rings. I had no idea where the rings go and ended up installing them just behind the hub caps 😯. I thought that the tires needed to be balanced as they were nearing the end of their life.
Thank you for this video because I wouldn't have known the correct way to install the rings.
This is literally the most helpful video. No one ever told me about this. I got some fuel vapor off-road wheels for my 17 f150 about 6 months ago and they were ok at first but now it feels and sounds like they’re going to fly off. Vibrating like crazy. I’ve asked 3 different auto mechanics what the issue is and literally none of them could tell me. Then I watch this video 😂😂 I just ordered some for 10 bucks. Hopefully it solves the whole issue. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Did it help?
What is the size of the rings? I have a 2018 f150
@@jesussuarez9742 I had a different issue going on with my suspension. Had nothing to do with the wheels. Traded it in. Best of luck
Shop I bought my wheels and tires from told me I need them. I've never seen so I asked what they were. He slapped them on and showed me but put it on backwards and said I only needed 2 for the front. I've had a shimmy at 50-60 I couldn't figure out. Had tires balanced and alignment done several times. Found out it was because I need these on the rear.
Hub-centric rings are an assembly aid. They can help overcome improper lug tightening procedures, and in a very small number of cases they may compete with the lugs to influence centering. That is all they do. The hub center never supports vertical load on any vehicle. The lugs also don't support vertical load, even if the wheel center bore is large. All the vertical load is supported by the friction force between the mating planar faces of the wheel and the hub. Tension on the lugs when they're tightened creates that friction force.
Thanks Captain Obvious!!👨🏻✈️
He's probably responding to the comment made in the video at about 1:10 referring the studs bearing the load if the ring isn't used
Thanks….only because sonmany dont know this and its not obvious
So what if the lug nuts are a wedge style lug nut would that nut style centre it and hold it
So basically if I have dual bolt pattern wheel I would need a hub centric rings if not it's possible it may shake?
I put on 2021 Ford F150 Lariat chrome OEM 20” wheels on my 2003 Ford Expedition RWD. The supposed hub for my 03 is 86.8 and the f150 rims I believe are 87.1. Now I’m worried and thinking of taking it back to Discount tire since there is a small gap between the hub and rim. Not exactly flush.
Do these come with the fuel Mavericks 20x10 -24 wheels if we order them from you guys?
Do these come with the wheels if I purchase from y’all? Or do I have to order separate?
I have a 2016 4runner with aftermarket rims… needing to buy hub rings but I’m not sure what size to buy. Help!! Tired of it shaking when I run it 60-70 miles an hour.. thanks.
wow i have a 2004 ranger 4x4 and wheels i have are 83.06 mm which ones do i need and do u sell them?
I have the same wheels, can you send me the link to order them for my Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Are these for sale on the website? If not will they ever be available on the website?
Great video I ordered my wheel and tire package and it came with these but had no idea what they were so I threw them out. Since I know what the purpose of these are what size do I need for a 04 f150 with fuel Mavericks wheels?
Thank you very much I was wondering what's that for now I know again thank you very much to post the video
just google the specs of your wheel probably 106x87 or 106.25 x 87.1 106 is the size of your wheel hub bore if you google fuel maverick hub bore for your truck. Custom offsets gallery will also tell you if you find your exact wheel.
Does the centric ring push the wheel further out? I'm looking at 22s for my Durango but I don't know if it's ok to go with a wheel with larger bore hub if the ring have like a spacer effect 🤔
No it does not because the wheel sits on top of them
I recently lifted my 16 Colorado. 22rims/33tires... negative 44offset. Will hub centric rings help stop my steering wheel from shaking left to right when I drive 45 plus mph?
We would recommend an alignment to make sure everything is straight and lined up as it should be! Then possibly some hub centric rings!
@@CustomOffsetsTV thanks for the reply.👍
Do they make them for 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd for 22x12 fuel Maverick?
Send an email to info@customoffsets.com and they will see what they can do for you!
Hello there. I have a 16 Chevy Equinox and purchase aftermarket wheels (22) and they were all good til like 3 months ago. I started to have vibration on my car. I felt the vibration on the steering wheel and pedals. I just add some Ring hubs but still having the same vibration. What can it be?
I have balance them already. Dealer checked suspension and was told everything was good. Tire have good tread. Alignment seems good. Pls help?
Send an email to info@customoffsets.com and well see what we can figure out!
Put back the original rims before your tires comes off while doing 70mph.
I got a question offset hope you grt back to me. Why do wheel and tire shops charge a fee for the hub ring if they automatically come with the wheels you buy for the exact car/truck you are getting them for?
Don’t always come with the hub rings. After market rims should always have hub rings. Even with the rings my rims still vibrate I’ve 65mph. Never seen tire shop guys set the torque wrench to specified number. Shop guys always use a gun with stick to initially set lugs but not always in a star pattern then torque - not always in star pattern - frustrated !
Does it matter on the wheel size or tire specs, or is it based off of the make and model of the vehicle?
All can be a factor
I need these for my 2006 f 150 am Running 20" fuels but I don't know what size I need
Check our gallery out for fitment help! customoffsets.com/gallery
is hub centric rings for alloy wheels only or for steel wheels as well?.. if not why is that?.. i called an auto shop, and looking for a hub centric ring, at first they don't know what it is and asking what type of vehicle i have? they thought im looking for a wheel spacer, but i explained what it was, i knew because i saw your video, and then they ask if what kind of wheels i got, alloy or steel?, i said steel and they don't want to sell me, they said, it wont work because its steel, its only for alloy, they dont want to explain because they are busy he said..
can you use them on dodge ram cummins 8 lug I know they are hub centric but can I use them anyway to try I am getting a vibration at highway speeds just had my wheels balanced twice still does it this is my next option to try
Yes you can Zac
Custom Offsets thanks I ordered some from you guys should be here tomorrow I will give them a try hopefully it solves it thanks so much
zac Edwards hey did it solve the vibration?
As a offroad jeep should I go for metal or plastic rings?
Metal/lead rings would probably be better, your ultimate best idea would be to get ones that are hubcentric already, but we understand it doesn't always work that way!
I want to buy some 5×114.3, but my Bolt pattern is 5×115. What type or size of Hub Centric Rings do I need?
Unfortunately it doesn’t quite work like that... you have two options, either purchased wheels that are 5x115 (recommended) OR you would need to run an adaptor to change the bolt pattern. Minimum thickness on an adaptor should one inch. Hope that helps!
@@CustomOffsetsTV Thank you
I got fuel lethal 20x9 had them on my Chevy with no rings, now i own a 2018 f150 and notice vibrations where can I buy the rings
since i never got any
My wheel is 56.7, my vehicle hub is 54.1. I can buy pre-made 56.6-54.1. Is that close enough or do I have to get custom (56.7-54.1) for double the price. Thanks....
You can get a hub ring, but the hub size should not affect things that much when the difference is that small.
If the rings are custom made is it better to make them by steel for more strength (or stainless steel) than aluminium?
they aren’t load bearing
Its important to point out that people saying these are not needed are incorrect.
Although in theory "proper tightening" of the lugs SHOULD center the wheel, in practice this is not always the case. I have a set of TSW wheels that I took to 3 different tire shops and the first 2 were clueless. The 3rd one simply popped the center cap off and "properly tighten" the lugs and they showed me how you can visibly see that its not hub centered.
I couldnt find 72.1-63.4 METAL ones so i ordered the polycarbon ones and instantly the vibrations were gone. 🤷♂
What size
Need some for 2015F250...How do I determine what I need?
send us an email to sales@customoffsets.com
What no anti seize?!
how do you measure them
OK THANKS MUCH
Could it be a problem if I installed the rings on the hub instead of the wheel?
You should be fine, as long as it fits snug to both the wheel and the hub!🙏🏻
do these typically come with aftermarket wheels? ordering from fitment industries and not sure
Shoot them an email to shop@fitmentindustries.com 🤘🏼
@@CustomOffsetsTV My parents had an issue with vibration on their 2013 Ford Taurus after installing after market wheels. I don't believe the tire shop knew what they were doing. and we're speaking of a tire shop that is a big chain tire shop.
Fitment industries not only doesn't include them with wheel packages, they dont tell you that you need them when you do place and order and they don't answer emails when you try to contact them to determine which rings you need for the wheels you just bought
Which one is best to buy, the aluminum or the rubber? Does it matter?
If you live somewhere with snow and salt you definitely want plastic
I got tundra 2016 I’m running steel offroad wheels I don’t know what size i need
Send an email to info@customoffsets.com and they should be able to help you figure out what size youll need!
@@CustomOffsetsTV thank you
Did you find out what size ?
How do i find what size hub rings i need?
Shoot us an email to sales@customoffsets.com so an expert can help!
What if the wheel is smaller then the oem hub? Won't fit at all???
Correct, it will not fit
Thank you
Wrong , he touched on it you can get spacers made to a custom bore inner bore to fit yours and outer bore slimer, then use adapting rings to fit literally any wheel any hub bote
So that’s what those things are in my wheel boxes..
do you happen to know that the a 2012 Silverado outside hub diameter is for the rings?
+Custom Offsets Does Fuel usually send them with the dual drilled bolt pattern rims?
Can these change wheel offset?
It will not!
How do you know what size to get?
Work with our sales team or customer service and they can find your size.
Do these rings ship with all fuel wheels?
Usually the vendor will include them into the wheels yes but because we don't ship them we can't promise that.
You guys only offer one size on your website
please email us for more options Jon.
That’s the wrong ring
Just my opinion, but if you need these rings for proper fitment of your wheels, spend the extra money and get aluminum ones. Proper wheel fitment is not only a factor in performance, but safety as well. You really wanna put plastic in charge of that job? No thanks. Go for the aluminum ones. Spend the extra money and do it right the first time.
Dude gtfoh with your nonsense.Plastic Rings are the way to go,not aluminum
No fucking way I'm putting plastic rings on my hubs, I'll opt for the metal ones..
Plastic is better
I thought the same thing. I ordered metal but all the videos I'm watching and advice says to use plastic because they won't seize.
My question, how do you find the hub centric size of the aftermarket rim?
Manufacturer window should have it listed. Most wheel sites also have the info
Aftermarket rim tell you the hub size and just research your car hub size
