So frustrated about David, he was the only player who could have challenged Federer in that era. Still my favourite player :) When he plays, it's like watching a master class of tennis. And that backhand is just something else.
@@Irfan87 Safin was great, don't get me wrong, he was outclassing his opponents with his sheer power and athletics. To focus and he reached this level but then after the injury agaub he did not put the work to return to form.
Up to this day, I still can't believe how this match was not won by Nalbandian. Surely, this is the worst defeat of his career. I think he had the chance to win the championship against Federer. An incredible opportunity missed by one of the best shotmaker of tennis' history. Baghdatis was being outplayed up to 6-3 and 5-1 but Nalbandian gave Marcos the chance to comeback. I saw this match live in 2006 in Argentina and I almost cried at the end of it. I was so frustrated by this result that I didn't even see the final. So dissapointed to end the tournament like this.
Definitely this was a match Nalbandian should've won, like many others. But for me the worst loss of his career was the 2003 US Open semis vs Roddick. Two sets to love up and a match point on the third set. Would have probably won the US Open with that opportunity.
And to blow this match, knowing he had Federer waiting in the final, and knowing he had beaten him in the best of 5 Masters final just 2 months prior. He would have had all the confidence going in. No way should he have been losing to Baghdatis.
@@alejandrodelvalle9311 Against Roddick he was injured and still played a great match until the 3rd set. He just didn't have a chance after that playing with no serve and no backhand (also he was robbed). This is far worse.
Yes. So frickin' frustrating to look back at all the wasted chances. Roddick USOpen SF 2002 (if I remember correctly), here with Baghdatis with the match in his hands. And I bet I could find some RG wasted matches as well. All these, while he was in his prime years. After 2010 Nalbandian tried to come back, but sincerely after 2008 he was done. His years were between 2002 and 2008. Won some nice tournaments, but wasted the grand slams chances. In our days, he would have trained with a sport psychologist. That would have helped him in the 2000's. Well, cheers for the future. I will certainly show how this guy played to my kids, when they grow a bit older.
Good way to celebrate Baghdatis aa a player after his retirement from tennis. However, for those willing to read, I'd like to see a few matches in classics: - Kyrgios Vs Seppi in 2015, when Nick broke into the top 30. - Nadal vs Kyrgios this year - Federer vs Sandgren this year - All of Djokovic vs Wawrinka (2013, 2014 or 2016) I'd love to see any of these in Classics.

No, he went far to one more grand slam a few months later. he was constantly at top10 for 2 years.
