I actually didn't know they replaced Chris on that first album with Art 🙃 There was this "something is a bit different... but I don't know quite what" vibe but I never expected it was the lack of Chris 😅

I was lucky enough to meet @artcruzdrums before and after a 2022 show in Detroit. Not only is he an amazing drummer, he is the most down to earth person ever. We chatted a good 10 minutes about magic, and him meeting David Blaine. That night will be forever etched in my memories as one of the greatest nights ever. Thank you Art!

Art is the kind of guy you want in your band. Committed to the band's vision, great at his instrument and a good hang. I've been through hell with band mates I hated. Don't be me, you need to be able to live in a van with your band mates without committing a violent felony. So important.
When Chris Adler left the band I was pretty sad thinking if any drummer will do justice to the sound. But Art kicked it out of the park. Hes a mad drummer. And always sounds so clean.
I was too, Art is good, but did you ever watch a session like this from Chris? Chris was flawless and brought a lot more inspiration to the band in my opinion. This is actually also explained since Art says here that he watched the other guys do the work and did not want to much of his own opinion in the drumming. He is good, but to me he is 80% of Chris and not more. I would hope to hear some more original stuff in the drumming instead of ABCing... there are lamb of god songs that have such cool drum parts in them, i am hoping some of this in the future from Art.

I understand what you're saying but I never thought that another drummer could replace him in such a good way. Chris of course had his signature sound. And maybe the band plans to keep it that way. Otherwise it won't be Lamb of God and something else.
Mostly agree. Art does a great job filling in but he has not, to me, brought the same creativity and ingenuity to the stuff they’ve wrote with him that they wrote with Chris. A lot of it feels more like standardized parts or like it’s missing a bit of flourish to it that would’ve been there before. Also not a fan of the mixes on their last few projects, so maybe that’s part of it too. He’s an awesome player, I understand why they chose him, he does an excellent job, all that is true. I still go see them live whenever possible, incredible band, favorite metal band ever, deserve to be as big as they are. They’re still awesome, it’s just not quite the same (to me).
This is the next generation of LEGENDARY metal drummers right here. While there is no "replacing" the greats, there is certainly such a thing as carrying the torch and building on top of what came before. Art is certainly all of this.
Saw them with Pantera back in September. First time seeing them with Art, and you could tell the energy on stage was crazy. Didn’t know Art went “click-less” live. Love that! 🤘🤘
You have to respect anyone in this type of situation, replacing the original. You KNOW you're gonna get alot of shit from the fanbase, no matter how great you are. To be able to succeed AND make it his own is a testament to the dude's character and talent.
Taking absolutely nothing away from art, I feel like they attempted to go through the entire session without the saying, the name, Chris Adler. There was lots of talk about lamb of gods sound with zero homage paid. As a longtime Lamb of God fan, this hurts me! Art is awesome and so was Chris! Got to give the man his due!

Saw Prong live a few years ago and Art was such a showman! Constantly throwing a stick away while maintaining the beat single handedly. Best first act I've seen before Sepultura. When I learned that he was Lamb of God's new drummer, I cheered. He's just fantastic! Respect!!
As a long time LOG fan, I was skeptical about Art until I saw the live footage of him filling in before it was permanent and I was totally blown away. He’s stepped in and filled a huge pair of shoes with style and beats as heavy , fast and technical as any of the other top performers out there now. Awesome job man. Much love from NC🤙🤙🤙
Been a die hard fan since the dive bar days of LOG. I truly can't see anyone else bringing the change of pace like Art does. That ridiculous power and precision is truly insane. Gonna be fun to watch LOG progress.
I'm not a drummer, I play bass. But I've always really liked watching a good drummer do their thing. It's a completely different skill than guitars. Fascinating.

@@Gooden_EyeWell it is kinda hard to compare Art to Chris. I love Art but Chris was on a whole other level. Art's style definitely does fit and they've made some great songs with him but Chris was so much more technically advanced in the way he'd almost make melodies with his cymbals, examples in the songs: "Laid to Rest," and "Now Youve got Something to die for." And his kick work was phenomenal. Examples in the songs: "Pathetic," or "Black Label." From what I've heard from both, I have to say Chris is just far better in terms of dynamics and overall precision, but Art is still amazing.
I've watched a ton of Drumeo video content and this might arguably be my favorite. Art is incredibly humble, funny, and talented. His joy when playing is absolutely infectious. It makes me want to get behind the kit. Thanks for sharing!

I was as big a fan as you could be of these guys through maybe Wrath. Got kinda desensitized and moved on but just started going back into them this week, great timing on this video, im about to go through a whole phase again

I just saw Lamb of God for the first time with Pantera in 2023 then again at MSG in n New York Feb 2024. They are so tight live. They made me and even bigger fan. I think them opening for Pantera was the best choice.

Art Cruz has been one of my favorites for a while now, on top of Mario Duplantier, Vinnie Paul and Danny Carey. Recently, II has climbed his way onto my favorite's list as well

Chris was massive shoes to fill but Art has come in and feels like a massive part of the band in a few short years. Clean, aggressive playing and a class act all around.

This video reminded me of why I love this channel. As an avid listener, I’m able to watch my favorites play and talk about how and why. Art seems to be a wonderful person and I love the personal and artistic respect he has for his band. He’s definitely a current fave and so swoon worthy 🥰🫶🏼🥁🔥
LoG is one of my all time favorite bands. It was a gut punch to hear the news that Chris Adler was leaving the band, but Art won me over very quickly. It's great to see that they brought him in to not just be the "new guy" or the "replacement drummer". Art is out there interacting with fans and his stage presence is awesome. As a fan he feels just as much a part of the band as the rest of them who've been there since day one.

@@christophermcclelland1556 Dude, Adler used a 5.5"x12" snare, Cruz uses a 6.5"x14" (that at least for this session sounds super dry and muffled), you are not making sense. And I agree with OP, that small snare sound and harmonics were a big part of LoG's sound.
That camera shot where you can see Art face in the reflection of one of the toms is sooooooo perfect. Drumeo's killing it with the content and concept lately. The production is as good as the interview chemistry and the guest. Looking forward for more !!!
I'm a huge LoG fan and was a total Chris Adler fanboy and was mortified when he left... That was until i heard Art live. Art has total Dave Grohl, nice guy vibes and is a total monster behind the kit! One question i do have though, is it a contractual or respect thing that Chris' name is never actually mentioned? It's clear Art respects what was before him in the band and I would love to hear an unguarded response about Chris Adler as an influence on him.
Art Cruz is such a great guy and he is also very humble guy. The way he talked is fun and enjoyable too. That is why I like him as metal drummer and as a human being..
You play with such abandon and joy and of course incredible skill. You have that total Bonham intensity going on even down to your facial expression. Incredible! And you seem like such a sweetheart! Thanks for doing this!
The guy is ultra soft spoken, smart and looks like an overall great guy. On the drums, he's a beast! You can hear the stress on the snare when he hits it. LOG found a great drummer, hope it works out for a long time.

I just saw Lamb of God for the first time with Pantera in 2023 then again at MSG in n New York Feb 2024. They are so tight live. They made me and even bigger fan. I think them opening for Pantera was the best choice.
Please invite Septicflesh's drummer to the studio. I think KRIMH is a genius. The band will tour the US in April and May.

Art Cruz has been one of my favorites for a while now, on top of Mario Duplantier, Vinnie Paul and Danny Carey. Recently, II has climbed his way onto my favorite's list as well

It's been said a million times over, but he had some big shoes to fill. Very happy to see and hear my skepticism proven wrong. Art's a beast on the kit and from what I can see, a genuinely good guy. This interview was a blast to watch

Chris was massive shoes to fill but Art has come in and feels like a massive part of the band in a few short years. Clean, aggressive playing and a class act all around.

This video reminded me of why I love this channel. As an avid listener, I’m able to watch my favorites play and talk about how and why. Art seems to be a wonderful person and I love the personal and artistic respect he has for his band. He’s definitely a current fave and so swoon worthy 🥰🫶🏼🥁🔥

That sound snare dosent fit the LOG sound😉 just a personnal preference. Great perfomance/conversation as always.
Sounds a bit ‘dead’ doesn’t it? Theres a noticeable difference to the whole sound compared to Chris’ kit.

LoG is one of my all time favorite bands. It was a gut punch to hear the news that Chris Adler was leaving the band, but Art won me over very quickly. It's great to see that they brought him in to not just be the "new guy" or the "replacement drummer". Art is out there interacting with fans and his stage presence is awesome. As a fan he feels just as much a part of the band as the rest of them who've been there since day one.

I miss that old school lamb of god snare sound that Chris Adler used. It's such a crucial part of their sound that isn't there anymoren

@@christophermcclelland1556 Dude, Adler used a 5.5"x12" snare, Cruz uses a 6.5"x14" (that at least for this session sounds super dry and muffled), you are not making sense. And I agree with OP, that small snare sound and harmonics were a big part of LoG's sound.

I'm a huge LoG fan and was a total Chris Adler fanboy and was mortified when he left... That was until i heard Art live.
Art has total Dave Grohl, nice guy vibes and is a total monster behind the kit!
One question i do have though, is it a contractual or respect thing that Chris' name is never actually mentioned? It's clear Art respects what was before him in the band and I would love to hear an unguarded response about Chris Adler as an influence on him.
Art Cruz is such a great guy and he is also very humble guy. The way he talked is fun and enjoyable too. That is why I like him as metal drummer and as a human being..
You play with such abandon and joy and of course incredible skill. You have that total Bonham intensity going on even down to your facial expression. Incredible! And you seem like such a sweetheart! Thanks for doing this!

The guy is ultra soft spoken, smart and looks like an overall great guy. On the drums, he's a beast! You can hear the stress on the snare when he hits it. LOG found a great drummer, hope it works out for a long time.
