I get that you have romanticized feelings attached to this from your youth. However, you simply cannot compare the multi-instrumental virtuosity of certain musicians like Prince to a band like this, as talented as they are. It just sounds ignorant and silly. There is no denying that Fleetwood Mac is original, talented, and innovative. Each of them did what they did VERY WELL, but they are hardly virtuosos or proficient on 5,6 7 instruments much less more than 20 instruments. There are STELLAR musicians who play every single instrument on their own records, write the lyrics, arrange the songs, and they have to HIRE people to go on tour with the to play the album live... Tom Scholz Prince Trent Reznor Heck, Tom Scholz BUILT every single recording study every Boston album was ever recorded in and in his own homes, no less. He wrote and played EVERYTHING HIMSELF and hired the vocalist to sing it on the recordings where he played every instrument. Prince could play 21 instruments very well, and is considered the greatest guitar player by Eric Clapton (and many other guitarists). I can't even begin to explain how good Trent Reznor is, but he's such an accomplished composer and arranger that he has been hired to do the soundtrack of several movies. He is also a MULTI instrumentalist, writing ALL of his own lyrics, all of his own arrangements, and playing all of the instruments on his recordings. Fleetwood Mac is good at what each of them do. Christie McVie was the most talented of all of them because she was RAISED as a musician from early childhood. Stevie Nicks is the ultimate rock star. Her beauty, her astonishing voice, her amazing, cryptic lyrics; that slightly kooky post-hippie mysticism combined with a refreshing girl-next-door directness. @Jenny Persson ''Great dark wing'' = Mick, ''Met my match'' /''Undoing the laces'' = Lindsey & Henley, ''When you build your house'' = Henley and of course..... ''SARA'' = Sara (Recor) Fleetwood and Stevie herself!
@Benjamin Vieira Oh puhleese I have to read time after time how even when she was wandering around the stage singing offkey "Stevie Fiends" will NEVER say a bad word.
"Poet, priest of nothing..." "Has anybody ever written anything for you"?-Stevie Nicks, from her 1980 Belladonna Album...these sentiments, including those in this song, " Sara, you are the poet in my heart. Never change and never stop" should run concurrently.

kings17court in an interview stevie said that she doesn’t get tired of singing her songs such as Sara and Rhiannon because she doesn’t really know their complete story and so each time it’s like the songs brand new and she’s learning more about them. So no she doesn’t get sick of performing them which is great
Listen to their concerts...Never the same. They would change who sang with who, changed dominance of instruments and played with their voices. I do have my favorite performances ...Usually has Lindsey in it...But Joe brought out the best of Gold Dust woman.
Amazing rehearsal, almost perfect for the concert! The only part to change was the ending, sort of sudden and quiet. Her look is also amazing, clearly with innocent and undrugged. She should have appeared more with this hair style.
Mateus.Matthew She was heavily in the throes of drug addiction to cocaine at the time she did this. She might have had an innocent look, but it wasn't about being undrugged.

She looked shocked, pulled her coat around her & came up to the fence. "WHAT are you all doing?! It's horribly cold out here, what's wrong with you? You're all going to go home, get sick, and I'll feel simply AWFUL!!" Here she LITERALLY stamped her foot at us. "Now go home! God bless you all and thank you so much for coming out tonight my loves...But GO HOME RIGHT THIS INSTANT! Go drink some cocoa and warm up!" Christine's always held a special place in my heart since!
Awesome, story thanks for sharing it! Exactly, how I would expect them to be.
Did Lindsey come outside ?
I graduated in 78 thank you for sharing that story I got to see them one time in concert will never forget it.... and it was magical and authentic
Me too - graduated '79; but never got to see them until 2005 without Christine:(
I think Stevie was going through a LOT of the drugs and stuff. That sucks she wasn’t very nice:( I met her in 2013, she was the sweetest thing!
Wow, what a great glimpse back in time when Stevie Nicks ruled the music world.
False. Fleetwood Mac ruled the radio airwaves & rock world.
If you’re lucky enough to listen to this like me wow what beauty👍
Her legacy became a legend... legend became myth... Myth into a Goddess...
This song is absolutely gorgeous and maybe my fave from them! Love you guys always!
This is such a beautiful song. It always gives me chills.
Fleetwood Mac... !
I have been listening this song since the day it first came out in the radio and l have never stopped and I never will because is hauntingly beautiful ❤❤❤
" Go your Own Way" pour Lindsay Buckingham
" Songbird " pour Christine Mc Vie "
" Sara " pour Stevie Nicks
Je faisais partie des 5 000 spectateurs:
Palais des Sports de Paris
Le 14 juin..1980 !
Unique date " francaise " du " TUSK TOUR "
Souvenir d'une Stevie completement" craquante " ( j'avais 20 ans )
" Sara " , TOP 3 dans ma playlist " Fleetwood Mac "
🤗🤗🤗😯
This rehearsal is my favorite rendition////Forever continuous loop....
my god and this is just the rehearsal
They were all on fire. Absolutely magnificent.
When, after Rumours, I've bought Tusk in 79 ( what a Great eclectic YEAR ! ) I didn't Know I'd be principally Listening to One Song.....! And Which Song ! I didn't know what was the Story behind it, but had guessed it was sad....Now I know, just seen it in the Comments ...................I really love the contrast between the Half-Speed beat, that never change until the end, and Stevie Particular, Beautiful & Nasal Voice, which seems to be floating in the air....
This makes me love "Sara" even more!
This song takes me not only back to a little girl but multiple stages of my life. Fleetwood mac has been the soundtrack to many stages of my life. Truly the best musicians ever. Every record makes me melt yet gives me chills.
Kinda funny the part where she lifts up her dress to pull up her leg warmer. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed this!
right after 02:00 "undoing" "undoing" "the laces" "the laces", she did a hand motion resembling undoing something then lifts up her dress to pull up her left stocking
Stevie Nicks appears in the ranking of the best female voices of all time, and today in August of this 2019 this remains unchanged.
Very interesting vocal tone for sure.
Gorgeous harmonies!
I love Stevie and her music. I believe Christine is an awesome keyboard player. And she has some awesome outfits as well.
😅😅😅😅😅😅
DRIVING JOHN MCVAY BASS?MICK FLEETWWOOD'S PRECISE BEAT, STEVIE AT HER VOCAL PRIME< LINDSEY & CHRISTINE ALWAYS SUPERB ( I TOO WAS SCORCHED BU THERE FIRES, DROWNED IN THEIR ECSTASY'S & COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED< LOSING TOTAL CONTROL OF SOUL & HEART(A DEADLY COMBO!!__.
Why does this song haunt my soul?
Idk. This band has a way of doing that to people I guess
Stevie got pregnant by Don Henley ( singer for the Eagles) She had to have an abortion and its very sad. She's singing about all she "ever wanted, no sorrowful, sorrow"
Mine too.
just before they opened Tusk tour in my hometown of Pocatello Idaho. Stevie was an angel no matter what so many people said of her that night
WHAT?! IDAHO?!?!?! I’m from Idaho 😭😭 I was 20 years and a few days too late...
She walks over to Lindseys mic at the end then walks off even today during this song. It looks like here she was just looking for Lindsey ...okay then I'll sing it for him....then goes and looks for him. This song is pure art.
Oddly enough this song is partially about Sara, partially about Don Henley. This is one of the very few not written for Lindsey.
Lynnie Shaw Sara is partly about a baby that was never born a partly about her bff that dies , she said in an interview .
"Still looking 4 LINDSEY" (of course she is) her voice is haunting him, just like she said
Stevie’s voice was still in great shape and this is just a perfect version of this song. Still The Queen in 2022 🕊🎩✨🌙👢🖤
Love her live singing love this woman also her pal Christine mc vie who died 5days ago on December 2022 , rest in peace Christine your sadly missed by your ling time friends band mates and other people around the world, God bless you amen 🌠🌼💙🐦🌷💕🌟🌈☀️☮️☯️✝️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌷🌷🌷🌷🌠🌈☀️🌟
💔💔💔 rip Christine such an inspirational talent. Sing sweetly with the angels sweet ‘Songbird’ 💔💔💔😔
" Songbird " le + fabuleux piano/voix jamais composé
la chanson fait partie de " l'usine à tubes " RUMOURS " ( 1977 )
Master musicians
Hold on....the night is coming...and the starling flew for days
The phrasing of that lyric is everything! So beautiful!!!
hello thanks for the video i personally like this version i like the slower way this absolutley beautiful song is done and i really love the way chris does the ahaaa part to me that just adds so much emotion to this song ! this song really is a true piece of art
Christine McVie is the central glue to so much of Fleetwood Mac and Sara is a prime example. She lays down an intro arpeggio on piano followed by tasteful chord progressions which complements the reflective moody lyrics Stevie is pouring out even in this early rehearsal session.
"You're the Poet in my Heart..."
Stevie's a one off ❤
VOICE OF THE ANGEL
yuuuup 1981 cedar rapids iowa 5 seasons center remember me i was the 14 year old kid screaming your name heheh im 53 now why havnt you came back to cedar rapids it was a sold out show of 10,000 fans,,,,, patiently waiting dont forget about the heartland when your chomping into your cheeseburgers and drinking your milk ..........were always forgotten
Great !!! Love how she dance !!😀❤️❤️💖💖💖
My love since I first saw her on Saturday Night Special in 1976 I believe. I was only 10 years old, but I already knew that there was something about her that made me feel butterflies in my belly.
I saw that! I was 8 years old, and I remember being mesmerized. My 16 year old sister had the album, and I loved it.
Incredible. Great find!
Yes, I've always been a fan, you've played a part in my being, with your music. Thankyou.
Haunting.... Beautiful
Holy Tusk bun!
I've met my match, he was singing...and just then Lindsey steps into the light haha
Because he had to sing the harmony with Christine for craps sake. It didn't mean anything.
Also the intro ''Never told me 'bout the fire'' = Mick.
@Benjamin Vieira Oh puhleese I have to read time after time how even when she was wandering around the stage singing offkey "Stevie Fiends" will NEVER say a bad word.
@@muffin6369 this song is entirely about Stevie's secret affair with Mick Fleetwood. Sara Fleetwood was Stevie's friend that married Mick.
John & Mick just keep it solid. Every song is locked in.
If she wasn't crying on the outside, then she was crying in the inside.
Brits + Americans = Magic.
beautiful
Said Sara, you’re the poet In my heart never change, never stop.
Stevie’s vibrato is killer💖✨
🎸🎸🎤🎤
a total gem! thank you!!!!!!
"Poet, priest of nothing..."
"Has anybody ever written anything for you"?-Stevie Nicks, from her 1980 Belladonna Album...these sentiments, including those in this song, " Sara, you are the poet in my heart. Never change and never stop" should run concurrently.
Wow I'm young again this is the fountain of youth.
I miss these days so much.
the Tusk tour brings back great memories.
🎤🎧🎚️👠🎸🎸
Damn! Is this a rehearsal?? It's as good as a recording!!
To think they could "throw" this version away in rehearsal, knowing there was another level they might be able to reach. Amazing.
Has anyone talked about how she always sings the very last line in Lindsay's mic?
Christine’s piano holds Stevie’s voice like a satin pillow while Lindsey’s guitar wraps her voice like a prayer shawl Amazing 🤩
I'll never never stop loving you my queen take me with you I sang you all my life take me with you my queen you are my life rock on the most beautiful woman on earth inside and out my queen
Kat c ummm...HMMM... STALKER MUCH???????????
Stevie's voice! So great . . .
Artists that are relevant for decades must get so sick of performing their songs for the 1000th time.
kings17court in an interview stevie said that she doesn’t get tired of singing her songs such as Sara and Rhiannon because she doesn’t really know their complete story and so each time it’s like the songs brand new and she’s learning more about them.
We'll get older but somehow she'll be timeless. Very unique, there will be no more Stevie Nicks.
Not often is Chris stage left..
I know, right? Totally threw me off.
