I love your voice tone and the entheusiastic and kind way in which you chat. Stay authentic and keep on sharing your craft. I personally think it is a special gift to multi task the way you do. Some years ago I made fabric bracelet cuffs this way. They were about 3” wide and had button and elastic loop closing. I called them Irrational Threads. They had beads and buttons sewn on them too. I sold some to folks that raved about them but other people just didn’t get it and made funny faces. Now I think I’ll dig the remainders out of the deep archives of unsuccessful projects and see it I can resurrect them for junk journals. You’ve inspired me again!!! 🦌💌❤️📚👍
I love working with fabric collage sheets. I use a tule or netting on top of the collage and just sew away allover using different colors of thread, then I sew the new fabric sheets into book covers. I am learning so much from watching you embellish altered journals and am now working on my very first altered book. As of this evening I finished the first pocket page spread. I have to say Gayle, I am hooked. It is crazy because I am recently retired and haven't done this sort of thing since I was in 4th grade! There are paper pieces all over the floor! Thank you for making me smile. I will be back.
Yay, Robin! Retirement opens up time, doesn’t it? Time to play and do things that make us happy! So glad you’ve caught the paper bug!! So much fun to be had! ❤️
I love this idea! My mom had a huge collection of fabrics and when she passed away, I think I may have picked half of them. I know I now have a huge fabric collection! LOL! I guess it's time to dig those out and see what I picked. Happy Sewing and Crafting! Thanks again for "Doin' whatcha do"! My dad made she a sewing table that her machine sat down a bit to be flush with the table. This is what you need for this project or stack books around your machine to keep this project as flat as possible.
An interesting way to use up scraps, Gayle. I'm thinking some black fabric intermixed with very bright colors would look fun, too. I know this is going to look just lovely when you get it done. Hope you are enjoying your Saturday in the Great Montana! It's sunny here today in mid-PA; nice change from the gloomy, cloudy days we've been having. God Bless you now, my friend. Sue
Good morning Gayle! This was fun I can't wait to see the outcome and that's what I love about collage or stamping items the outcome is different every time. I love Salena's shop she has been a good friend and help get me Etsy store started. I love the fabrics that Salena has in her shop and its nice because she has bundles. I did watch Gina's video last year and just haven't gotten around to doing this so thanks for the revisit. I have an actual embroidery machine that makes huge designs I just need to dust it off. I hope you have a awesome weekend with the hubby, take care!
I have a whole roll of water soluble stabilizer and have been wanting to try this with tiny fabric scraps and embroidery thread. I am a quilter too so I have tons of scraps that I keep. This inspires me to finally try it. Thank you again for the inspiration!
It would be such a gorgeous way of making a water themed journal with blues and greens and after it’s stitched beads could be sewn in. Covering it with net would also work. Thank you for “stayin’ at home”. 😊
Love this! I am always looking for new options for covers. I don't know how I missed that you lost your sister this year, I am so sorry. I lost my brother this last November so I know how devastated you must have been. Hugs to you and thank you for sharing.
I really enjoyed this one Gayle, thank you ever so much for sharing. You're such an enabler now I'm subscribed to Gina and she has me checking out took. I just need about 12 hours more a day to be able to keep up with everything now. Hugs my sweet friend🥰🐞🤗
It’s a collage master board with fabric and lace! One for a cover and another to make bits to go inside the journal. So pretty and so fun. Thank you Gayle and Gina. What a fun way to while away an afternoon. Or a week 😊
Oh Gayle thank you so much for the mention! I love the colors you choose in this cover and know it will be gorgeous once completed. Gosh I may have to revisit this one again lol!! Stay warm & craft on my friend. Hugs
Thank you Gayle, went and watched the one you talked about. I live this idea, fun had to order some embroidery stabilizer. Can't wait to see yours finished.
Gorgeous covers Gayle!!! I’ve not heard of fabric stabiliser as I don’t have a background in sewing so this was a fun discovery!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! Hugs, Sharon 🌷💜
Hi, Gayle! I just became a new Patreon members of yours! I may or may not have stayed up for 4 hours last night binge watching a bunch of the videos...🤩 I’m so pleased to be able to support you financially, even if it’s just a few dollars a month. 🤗❤️
That is a real unique technique. I hopped on over and checked out Gina's, turned out really cute. No wonder you were anxious to try it out. My family has watched the Mandalorian too! We really enjoyed it. Hope you are having a good weekend!
Hi Gayle!! I did see the one Gina did and it was so cool!! These are going to both be so very pretty as journal covers!! Can't wait to see the end result!! TFS!! Hugs, Liz:)
Oh my gosh Gayle, I was cringing in pain while you cut up that beautiful flowered material. I’m working on a journal with flowers just like that and all I kept thinking about was what I could use that material for in my journal as you cut it up into pieces. That material was gorgeous. Then you pulled out the pieces with the individual flowers on them and started cutting. Oh my that was painful to watch.... This project your working on will be interesting to see when your finished. 🌸🌺🌼🌹🌷💐❤️
Gayle, wonderful project. How I wish I had a sewing machine. Enjoyed this video. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs 🤗 Your friend Cindy from a small town in Northern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Gayle! I used this tea unique over ten years ago to make fabric out of fabric, lace, knitting yarns, then made paintings out of it I fit large pieces on canvases then used thin copper wire or thread to embellish it with seed beads, or any type off glass beads. I also used metallic sewing threads on my machine! I am a fine artist. Here’s one of my favorite pieces I kept and never sold. I’d probably made this 10-15 years ago. I used napkin as well. I like many was a mixed media artist then. I hope I will be able to upload the picture of my art piece using this Technique.
Well there’s no way to upload a photo. It is made of reds, oranges, hot pinks, yellows and turquoise with black yarns for depth. Shaped in a heart form. Surrounded with strung multicolored glass beads. On canvas painted with acrylic and red rose napkins “striped background in reds and greens. With ribbon and copper wired beads at the bottom it says, “Live life with love” Love your work! Beautiful kinda @shabby chic” looking!😍🎀❤️👍
Oh Gayle, you are my happy place! When you described what you were going to do and then said “If that sounds good to you...”, I chuckled and said out loud “Anything you do sounds good to me!” ...but then as you went along I thought “What in the world?” 😂 I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product. Lucky for me, my sister sends me bags of scraps from her quilting. I can’t wait to try this!
Good Morning Gayle! Great idea, nice way to use up my scraps. Spring Journal cover? Sunny day here, but only 28 degrees, good crafting day. Looks like mosaic art using fabric. I use an inexpensive hair flat iron to straighten my small pieces fabric out. Have a great weekend too. 👍🌺
Hi Gayle! I love your videos but I watch mostly on TV and I can like but not leave a comment. You do such beautiful work and I enjoy watching so much. Have a happy new year, good health, and prosperity in the new year.
I can't wait to see the finished covers in another video! So pretty. I have several 50+ year old patterned sheets and things, time to pull them out and consider them for the chop!💚
Hi Gayle! This is a fun project for sure! I've not done this using scraps of fabrics, except teensy bits...I use my threads and such to do the same things, using tulle to cover over and under...I wanted to let you know that the yarn I sent you I purchased on Amazon from SunYarnStudio...it's Fluffy Superfine Alpaca & Silk Yarn, Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk. LOL! I love it and am happy you're enjoying it...have a super day my friend!! RondawithoutanH...aka Ronda Winstead

Wow this is amazing and looks so much fun! I have seen anything like this before. I cant wait to see it finished. I did go over to look at Gina's (which is my name by the way) and her hearts were so beautiful. So you know its going to make for a gorgeous yummy book cover. xxxxxx
