I don't even know what they are, but music producers have them. I made mine because goingquantum who my name parodies has it, I just got his picture into photoshop and changed the colour and stuck a Q on it

This reminds me of the music from VVVVVV
It's one of Famitracker's features, that basically adds all of the extra channels you see. While the NES was incapable of this, the Famicom was, because it was compatible with additional sound chips. And, one of these sound chips was the VRC6.
VRC6 was a Memory Management Controller (or sound chip) from Konami, it added 3 extra sound channels and was used for the Famicom.

The trick is to set the other instrument's volume low to like 8 or 9 max. It leaves the DPCM at full volume so you can hear it better but the song still is loud enough, not overbaring
