I think Beethoven would've been surprised with the warmth and soul of the guitar's sound. Excellente rendition, thanks for sharing!
He would not be able to hear it.
My pleasure Oleg!
He did comment about the guitar being a mini-orchestra. He would have loved this guitar version.
The master of Tárrega makes this piece as if it were written originally for guitar. Beautiful!
Absolutely!
The rasgueado intro before such a quiet and soft piece is really a pain.
I shouldn’t have had to scroll down so far to see this comment. 😂👍👍
rasgeo is something completely different, actually this is just arpeggio over the strings of the palo _Tarantas_
@@anhthiensaigon Either way (nomenclature), it's still a pain!
It is PP my friend. And technique that make softer is hand position that make dynamic different.
Didn't sound like rasgueado to me
The beauty of Pathetique second movement played with guitar by Matthew is beyond any description. Thank you, Maestro!
My pleasure.
I love the care that this man has with the sound!
Wonderful interpretation!
This is one of the best guitar players around the world and I think few know!
That is a lovely thing to say.
This is just amazing!!! I've always used to the piano version and didn't think that guitar could carry this piece out so perfect!!! Bravo
Thanks Ailin, the arrangement is really good by Tarrega!
He's really overextending the capability of the guitar here, and that's why it's played on piano.
@@ArtsAscendent piano is just a loud percussion instrument. hah! depends on the piano, but thanks for the laugh. Also, if the guitar can shape and sustain at a more desireable level as it pertains to this piece, don't you think Beethoven would've composed it for guitar? I have to agree with John above - if the melody of this arrangement is dependent on harmonics, then it is indeed approaching the limits of the instrument to embody this composition. Personally, I really enjoyed the arrangment for what it is. But it still strikes me as a lesser imitation of the genius of one of Beethovens greatest accomplishments for piano.
Thattts very very beautiful playing Sonata from Beethoven!! I really crying
From my own experiences, I know this piano composition is hard enough to be performed perfectly on the piano. Would have said not possible to be performed on the guitar. This video shows otherwise. Musical hard labor. Bravo.
Actually, on the piano it is quite an easy piece. The difficulty comes from the interpretation and expression, which was done perfectly
It sounds like more beautiful and sufficient to express one's mind than piano. The breath of the player is another instrument with his soul and passion.
Thank you very much. 🙏🎶
WOW! How this piano sonata could be played by a guitar? I heard of it with a guitar for the first time. It is simply amazing...
Well, Piano is just a bigger stringed instrument don't forget!
Thanks Tarrega for a lot of guitar arrangement
I just doubt why no one mentioned that the great arrangement was by Francisco Tarrega.
I love how these melodies change time and just speak a language of a kind. Thank you guys.
Thanks for listening Patrick. 👍
Those harmonics are blowing my mind
Remarkable interpretation of one of the greatest piano pages. The use of artificial harmonics is brilliant.
The arrangement by Tarrega is very clever and the harmonics are genius! Glad you like it.
The first time I heard this piece, was while watching "The Magic of Belle Isle". I fell in love with it immediately. Hearing it on guitar....WOW!! I intend having this played at my wedding next year....while I wait for my bride to walk down the aisle!!!
Simply brilliant... Love this piece and performance

2nd is best out of the three

Even 3rd is better than 1st.

@@galleryofguitar No- thank you!

Thanks Gustavo 😊
Quite brilliant. Thanks again for your wonderful transcription and performance.
Thank you Chris, the transcription is by Tarrega.
VERY well done sir! My favourite Beethoven movement....in guitar arrangement! In my opinion, the tempo is the most respectful of this composition. Notsomuchso the technique. Again, I love it, and thank you!
I wasn't sure about a transcription of one of Beethoven's best known and loved piano sonatas onto guitar but it works well. Very well played Matthew.
Bravo, Matthew! You've made this quintessential piano movement really work on the guitar. I love your liberal use of harmonics to add to the large palette of colors you deploy.
Glad you like it.
Can you please share the guitar tablature? Sounds really great on the guitar!
Incredible playing. Touched my soul. Well played
Thanks Hassan. 😊
This arrangment is beautiful. *hearty applause*

Whoa...Whoa... Yes! I mean YES!! Beethoven on guitar. Absolutely superb playing, phrasing and playing. You / Beethoven have me teary eyed.
Matthew, is this your transcription?
Charlie
Wow, this's so refreshing, after this sonata has been played so many times by the pianists!!
Indeed it is!
Beautiful! Bravissimo!
Thank you. 😀
beautifully rendered, great transcription and interpretation...thank you for posting!
Thank you Monique.
Jeez these transpositions have outrageous hand positions!
Big stretches!
A gorgeous piece played beautifully. Is this one of Tarrega's arrangements? I suspect it is; I don't think he could have passed it up. He made the guitar a respectable classical instrument for all time with his interpretations of Beethoven. We owe him a debt of gratitude.
la mejor versión del segundo movimiento de la pathetique que he escuchado hasta ahora para guitarra. maravilloso sonido, gran interpretación
Thanks Lucia.
