Unbelievable performance! Such talent, musicianship and taste in repertoire. Plus, the creative filming and editing took this occasion to a still higher level of artistic appreciation. Film and audio done by, none other than Lorenzo Micheli's über-talented student, Mr. Drew Henderson of Toronto.
Unbelievable. Best Beethoven performance I've ever heard on guitar, bar none. I would not have thought a transcription of his sonatas could ever rival the piano originals but the expression and variation of timbre of 2 guitars more than make up for the lack of power or pitch range compared to the piano. The playing is astonishing: perfect technique & synchronisation along with superb musicianship. The sound recording is also fantastic. Please come and do some concerts in Scotland!
This is the type of art, performance and musicians that will be remembered for HUNDREDS of years after they're gone. Soloduo is the real deal.... Amazing REAL ARTISTS, refreshing in an era of Walmart and McDonalds!
Beautiful! I was shocked with the beauty, ease and delightful interpretation of the piece in your concert a month ago. We are so lucky to have this here on youtube. Thank you! Looking for the upcoming CD...
Nothing pathetic about the transcription and your performance. The transcription skilfully worked around the lack of octaves on the guitar in all three movments (athough the second movement wasn't that complex, but still ...). As a guitarist myself, stunned by your skill and the way the two of you worked together. As a pianist I was delighted by the virtuosity of both of you in rendering Beethoven's notes and dynamics. This is definitely on my replay list! Great work, both of you!
This is brilliant! I remember providing the prize $$ for Lorenzo's winning the GFA competition many, years ago. Well deserved. One of the best guitar duo performances of any piece ever!!!! Bravo!
Neil Anderson ~ Regarding you final sentence, 100% agreed. Such extraordinary talent both Lorenzo and Mateo Mela have. Too bad my teacher, José Tomás, didn't live long enough to witness just how far the guitar has journeyed from the 'golden days' in Alicante / Santiago de Compostela. BTY, congratulations on your largess and artistic advocacy with regard to the GFA and its awards offered in competitions. One more thing, have you listened to the Canadian duo of Drew Henderson-Lorenzo's prize student-and Michael Kolk? If time permits, take a listen here: ruclips.net/video/mVlYCpzE3tw/видео.html
I dare say that Francisco Tarrega would have loved this arrangement (and superb performance), which provides so much more than a solo version (e.g. his arrangement of the slow movement).
gentlemen, this is so magnificent, I cannot find words of delight! can I buy the sheet music of the first movement from you? Maybe you can advise on which resource they can be purchased? Thank you. and all the best to you!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! This is a stunning achievement - beautiful, powerful, and gripping! Thank you Matteo & Lorenzo for the inspiration of your Beethoven. Warm wishes from Detroit!
So wonderful. In F. I've just recorded the second movement for my own pleasure, only I cheated horribly: it's transcribed for FOUR guitars plus one bass guitar. This lets me play just one note at a time on most tracks, or two notes at a time during the triplets section. Such a lovely song. I think I can refer to this movement as a song, perhaps more than with any other Beethoven sonata. My work, though pleasant and satisfying to me, is the work of an amateur, in an entirely different league from yours. Lovely work, gentlemen. Thank you for gracing RUclips with your artistry. I enjoyed every note.
My mind is officially blown. I never dreamed any number of guitars could do justice to a Beethoven sonata.
They are top.

Love you and respect you brothers from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you so much for bring Beethoven to the guitar and the talent of performing you both possess.

Great recording! Thank you for posting this! SoloDuo is the best at the Classical/Romantic repertoire.

Fantastic interpretation!!! Never imagine a duo guitar piece could equal a grand piano!!!

It's marvellous! I just fell in Beethoven love anew)) This music more suitable for classical guitar than for modern piano in my opinion
Have you tried listening to it on a fortepiano? Much different experience compared with the modern piano.
