      This post is correct, and more or less most of the points in the video are correct. Every con in my opinion after 300 hours in it is either fixable with attachments like the head straps (which are a must buy with the weights on the back, and the vr rock lenses, as well as the infrared lights) or software side. The hardware is good. There is a learning curve figuring out where the "sweet spot" is, but once you figure it out, the blurryness goes away. The issue is when games don't have foveated rendering in use ex: no mans sky, or when games have lag induced or code error causing screen tear ex: after the fall. Both can be nauseating. For those saying price is too expensive. Ok how much yall spend on the steering wheel for gta7, how much you spend on your gaming headphones, how much you spend on your scuff controllers, or your Nike shoes for that matter. What you spend on your apple watch. How much did your tv cost? Cause since i got the vr2 i dont even use my tv except when watching movie with someone. Games are almost at the 100$ mark by themselves in most cases for flat screeners and most of yall got at least 2 pre ordered. Stop acting like 500$ is breaking your bank for what you get. pc quality vr is when you draw the "it's too expensive as an peripherial" line? Pc vr users don't need to weigh in on psvr2, you can't compare it to something that your 2k$-5k pc runs. To all the youtube videos saying sales are bad. if sales were bad 40 different companies wouldn't be still sinking money into releasing 90 plus titles on this platform later this year. You know why there are way more videos about how bad psvr2 is or how it's failing? Cause those of us that only had a ps5 to game on aren't making videos, we just playing, which was the audience it was designed for in the first place. If I had more time I'd be programming a survival game and a moba for this platform because it's a good platform and once you go vr, it's hard to go back to flatscreen and you only do if there is nothing happening in the vr world and you've beat everything too many times.

    The VR2 launch has been incredible! Quality games (I have 10), ease of use, and overall experience is a 9.5 for me. The battery life of the controllers could be better but after 3/4 hours it’s time for a break anyway - but a great time to get on GT7 with the dual sense while the vr controllers charge (at least they charge fast). Loving it! Don’t want to play flat games anymore.

      I was using quest 2 with PCVR for last 2 years. Before that I was using PSVR1. Two weeks ago I have bought PSVR 2 and I must say that I am not impressed. I do not like headstrap cause it is sliding down on my nose pressing it and mąkę it hurt. Battery in controllers is crap. I have to charge controllers every 2h, with Quest 2 controllers I do not change AA acumukators for one week before they drain out. Mura effect makes screen unclear and OLED is really dark compared to LCD in Quest 2. And library of games. 90% of titles I already have on quest/PCVR. And ones that are created specially for PSVR are just too expensive and you can buy them only in PSStore because most of psvr games were released only on digital version compared to psvr1 titles. Only thing I like is headset vibrations I do not even use haptic triggers cause I do not want to drain battery to quick. Overall I really regret that I have bought PSVR. And I bought it used for almost 1/2 of price. For me right now thare are only 2 titles worth playing resi 8 VR, and GT7 VR cause I can buy these games used on disc. Horizon for 70$ 😂 dear $ony are u mad?

    I’ve been using my PSVR2 with glasses almost every day for the past 2.5 months and never had to recalibrate eye tracking. However, the prescription lens inserts are a great recommendation to prevent scratches, especially if you play active games like Pistol Whip. I have not scratched my lenses yet but I’ll order a pair soon just in case.
    Sweet spot is small but takes me only about 5 seconds to find now. From turning on the console I’m inside a game in about 1 minute.
    Good pros/cons discussion overall! I’m very happy with this headset and the launch lineup.

And while moving your head around quickly, ghosting effects are very noticeable. Managing expectations is important before purchasing this. I’m a bit let down by the image quality but blown away by the immersion. VR just isn’t there yet. It’s close but still

    I have to admit, i dont care that much about the sweetspot anymore - its a matter of time till a user learns how to wear the headset correctly. So this problem will fade when time passes by, but i see the point that it is very challenging for a beginner and annoying at first.
    What i dont like:
    *1. The huge purple dot as a result of reflecting highcontrast scenes that can apear in the lower field of view.*
    Never seen any reviewer mentioning or showing this lenseflare (or at least it reminds me off it). But its on every VR-Headset. On every single sample. May be this is common for fresnell lenses (i have no idea), but as a PSVR1-User you will be very concerned seeing this visual extra for the first time.
    *2. Exzessive provocation of mura by some developers, which is unecessary.*
    In Kayak Mirage at nighttime you see a lot of mura, because the absolute brightness used by the software is very very low. You can play with the ingame exposureslider (which will not increase or decrease the physical power of brightness of the display as the PSVR2 option does). Already +1 redcuces mura in large measure and the night scene still looks like night. For a short time you will notice the difference, but human eyes are very adaptive. So mura is a flaw of the technique, but how much it will annoy users is the responsiblity of the developers.
    *3. Developers, who fail to use PSVR2s greatest performancefeature: eyetracking with foveated rendering*
    We have all seen games looking awesome and the foveated rendering with eyetracking adds to the performance of the PS5. Sure it depends on the title, but there are reasonable numbers around ( in the web, how much this feature can boost the graphics. However there are a lot of devs, that just dont care or do not have the knowledge how to do it right. Sometimes their game still looks fine ( but could still look better) or you get a blurry mess instead, which reminds you more of the average lastgen PSVR1-titles. I hope these occurrences decrease in the future and the knowledge on how to unleash the full potential of the PSVR2 will become more common.
    *4. About the price / inflation:*
    A lot of reviewers defend or pick at the pricetag of the PSVR2. I think its great value, but the problem is of course it is still too expensive for the average gamer - as the PS5 is aswell. But PS5 has already been a hyped and popular piece of hardware, so people will try to get one anyway and the higher price does not impact its sucess that much in comparision. However regarding the VR2: It does not mean anything to the average consumer, if you pull out a calculator to explain, why the PSVR2 is NOT more expensive then lastgen (because of inflation). People will have less money available during inflation and therefore their individual resources to get a PSVR2 are more limited. Does not matter if its adjusted for inflation or not. Too much is simply too much. Of course, inflation is not Sonys invention and therefore not their fault. It is just as it is at the moment - not the best time to invest in entertainment/hardware.
    *The argument, that PSVR2 should be compatible with steam....*
    Who ever said anything about Meta, Pico, Pimaxx, HTC, Valve, HP that their headsets are not useable on PS4/PS5 ;) ?
    Nobody...in my eyes, this argmuent is simply without any substance. It is a wish for a great & cheap PCVR-headset for an ecosystem that Sony would not earn anything from.
    Sure, you can have those wishes....but please be realistic at this point: It wont happen, and nobody really should expect it neither is it a surprise, nor an broken promise by Sony.
    But somehow i see this comming up in every 2nd review....please just think about it for a brief moment. It does not make much sense at the moment to point the finger at Sony for its PSVR2-PS5-exclusivity.
    Those are my thoughts about the negatives. Thx for the video you made some good points there. Both thumbs up for it.

  • @pghparkins
    @pghparkins Год назад +6

    This was very helpful. It is unlikely I was going to buy a PS VR 2 as I am too heavily invested in Meta and Steam at this point, but I had some serious HMD envy going on. While I don't see any of the cons as show stoppers, some of them do make me appreciate my Quest 2 more. The Quest 2 is looking old at this point but the ease of putting it on and off, the power of the bobovr battery, the long controller battery life, the builtin speakers, and not needing to tether just removes so many friction points. I grab it and my controllers off the wall, slap a battery on, and I am off to VR land.

  • @techinfusions
    @techinfusions Год назад +7

    That's a fair review, I think the PSVR2 is really the only way to experience PCVR quality games at a much more affordable price, when you consider that you can buy a PS5 for $399 or less, what sort of PC could you buy for that sort of money? Meta headsets just cannot compete unless you plug them into an expensive PC and the Quest 3 will be the same, the image quality of the PSVR2 is fantastic and will get even better as the developers get to grips with the new tech, Resident Evil Village and GT7 are worth buying the PSVR2 for and both of those games got the free VR update, so Sony are not just trying to rip people off, I am looking forward to what comes next for the PSVR2.

      The fact that the VR2 store is now beginning to fill up with games and Resident Evil 4 is getting its own full VR mode means that Sony are pretty serious this time around and that can only be good for VR gaming because nobody else is going to do it.
      Valve only gave us Half Life Alyx and Oculus, only Lone Echo 1 & 2 in the last 3 years, Sony have the means to make a difference so its up to them.

It also can't be so light wireless as a massive battery is required so comfort wouldn't be as good, just get a cable suspension kit to hold the cable above you instead of around your feet they work great.

A far superior experience in my opinion. Q2 is its own hardware,independent, versatile enough. I don't know why Sony didn't go that route. Instead they are asking a horrific 700$ for just vr goggles that are still slaved and tethered to a console. Wtf costs 700$?!! to be honest, the biggest downside to PSVR2 (except not being able to utilize it on PCs) is the lack of built-in audio. I have the HP Reverb G2, and it uses the same audio system as the Index... FANTASTIC quality speakers hovering over your ears without touching them. It is SUCH A big deal for immersive gameplay, and today, I find it difficult to get excited about a new headset without built-in audio, or poor built-in audio. The Index sound system is such a game changer, both in terms of immersiveness as well as convenience.

  • @NeonPizza80s
    @NeonPizza80s Год назад +2

    I'm kind of torn on PSVR2. It's been both incredible(Resident Evil: Village & Moss: Book 2 say hi) but also cumbersome and frustrating. Sony dropped the ball by using Fresnel lenses due to the janky tiny finicky sweet spot, plus I don't think it was a smart idea increasing the FOV to 110d from the PSVR1's 100 seeing as how 2000x2040 per eye still isn't good enough in VR.
    Not only that, but it's OLED display suffers from Mura which produces this funky grainy mesh aesthetic to the overall the image. And i'm nearly over being tethered to a cable. Since it's always constantly brushing against my neck, and hitting my legs and feet. It's such a barrier and it breaks immersion and can make VR feel straight up sloppy. Plus, the headset is pretty front-heavy and hurts the nose. :P
    At least with Quest 3, aside from being wireless and rocking Ring-less VR controllers, there won't be any OLED mura, the resolution is higher per eye(2064x2208), the FOV is around 10d lower than PSVR2's which in return will make the picture even clearer, and it's using pancaking lenses for a wide sweet spot. All of the above will produce a noticeably sharper and cleaner picture, and you're getting much batter image stability thanks to the pancakes. The Ring-less controllers, along with the flat front visor which just will no doubt make it that much more alluring and attractive for most people are great upgrades too.
    My only real concern with Quest 3 are the black levels, since it's using a basic LCD display. Would of been rad if Meta released a Pro model along side it, with an LCD(or LED) using a Quantum Dot Layer/or local dimming for deep inky blacks, while including Eye tracking & FR to conserve and use more power. A Q3 paired with an RTX4090(I so need one of those.lol) should be pretty crazy, putting aside those weaker black levels. Either way, still gonna hold to my PSVR2. Where else am i gonna play Resident Evil: Village, RE4: VR Mode, future Astro Bot sequel and whatever else.

    "Sweet spot" is a bit confusing. I've seen it refer to two things: (a) the amount of fiddling you have to do to get the headset adjusted on your face, and (b) the size of the clearest central part of the FOV. So does "small sweet spot" mean "lots of fiddling but then it's fine", or "no matter what you do, peripheral vision will be blurry"?

    • @DiscoVRTetiana
      @DiscoVRTetiana  Год назад +1

      In a way, both can be correct, because they're connected. Sweet spot is the area in the lens in front of your eyes where the image appears to be the most clear, sharp, and in focus, while the edges of the field of view are less clear and may be blurry or distorted. A "small sweet spot" would mean that the clear and sharp area in the center of the field of view is relatively small, so it's harder to get the headset adjusted perfectly to find it. A large sweet spot is more forgiving in terms of headset adjustments. Some VR headset make the image look pretty sharp even if the headset is not positioned 100% correctly on your head, even though it still depends on your individual characteristics like IPD

    • @johnl.7582
      @johnl.7582 Год назад +1

      @@DiscoVRTetiana I did a bit more reading and it seems a good definition is that sweet spot relates to how sensitive focus is to eyeball positioning. This affects BOTH headset positioning and eye movements (saccades). So for a headset with a small sweet spot, it is harder to position the headset correctly, and there is a loss of clarity at edge of FOV. I think this agrees with what you wrote. Thanks!

He sold it to me for $350 and its like new condition with Call of the Mountains. I had played that RE8 and GT7. They are the best for the headset and I been a fan of OLED since the Samsung Odyssey. I thought it was kind of cool at first with the eye rendering and higher resolution. I have not been hyped for it as much as I am hyped for the Quest 3 even without OLED. I told myself I wouldn't get another LCD headset but something about the PSVR2 feels off. Maybe it's because of the mura or the reprojection. It makes me think maybe the headset was meant for the PS5 Pro and it came out early so people can still use it with the base PS5. It was blurry. I had to turn my entire head to the side, to render the game. At that point, I knew I was scammed.
    Either way, it wasn't the only reason why I refunded PSVR2. I played the entire RE: Village on it, and it was great experience, absolutely. But there were issues with (right) controller. I had to hard-reset it a few times (with needle), because my hand was going out to the space. Another reason was me not wanting to have VR device stuck to the console lifespan. When PS6 comes out, my PS5 will die with its expensive VR headset, while on PC, it will be used "forever".. Unless.... Sony goes crazy and releases drivers for PC for PSVR2, I'll be surprised then. Another part, was really small sweet-spot for setting your headset on your head to see the screen correctly. Let me go even further... my glasses scratched the OLED screens.. so you have to buy (or 3D print yourself) a little plastic distances to put inside your headset or buy custom-made glasses to put inside your headset.
    There are many things so cool about PSVR2, but cons I described from my experience and thoughts of the future made me refund it. So I'm waiting for my 1st PCVR experience now.
    Also, for the love of God... please, start making those knuckle-straps like Valve Index did it. It's so much better to have that instead of those wrist-wraps, I wanna let go of my controllers from time to time while playing.
    Cheers!

    why is there no real info on the vertical field of view on this headset? sony just states diagonal and some people claim horizontal is aroudn 110, but nothing on vertcial. i dont get why everyone says its comfortable. after 30 min, i had pressure points all around my face, most of them, from the gasket. solution is: set it back, with the downside of having less fov. thats not comfort for me, its a tradeoff. get less experience but on the other hand, dont have pressure points. and wait, fresnel lenses leading to screendoor effect? the SDE comes from the display, not the lenses. take the quest 2 and 3 for example: 2 uses fresnel and lower res, 3 uses pancake, way clearer but higher res, but you can see the SDE way more then on the 2, because the slighty unsharpness due to fresnel hides the effect behind a blur. and yes, iam very sensetive to this and i can ruin my experience, because seeing pixels or the gap between them, is a telling neon sign that my brain auto translates into "its just a game". on haptics. i never understood why people want, like and need vibration and haptics. my hands feel it, but my brain doesnt add it to the experience. my controllers haptic motor could break during gameplay and i would never notice it. my friend brought over his psvr2 after 2 hours of playing, he asked me how i feel about the headset haptic itself and i was like "it has feedback? didnt notice" and when it comes to cables.. people need to be self aware, what they want. if you want wireless, you need to live with compression and artefacts and thus a worse visual experience. best thing is to have both options but thats rare on headsets.

    Sony seems like doing just like Meta is doing by only rely on low budget indie game developers. Im just gonna focus with Praydog's Universal Unreal Engine vr injector. It should last me lifetime. I wish i didn't buy psvr 2 with ps5 console.

      Sell them both and get a 4090. You're gonna need that extra power with a ue5 injector. Bought mine specifically for the injector. I was playing all re mods with a rtx 2080 super. Then upgraded to a 4090 and what a night and day difference. I've seen several youtubers bashing the mods saying they're jittery and janky but using a low end gpu..blaming the mod and not their low end pc. Smart man..stick with the injector if you want AAA. The numbers sold on psvr 2 don't even have AAA devs looking in that direction. They're gonna need to sell a few million before they'll even suggest bringing their game to psvr 2.

      5090. i really need to rid of psvr 2 and ps5(what a waste of money)

      @@ji3200 i agree. I had a psvr 1 and its a no for the psvr 2 for me. Also waiting for pimax 12k..crystal..or Deckard. Definitely gonna grab 1 of the 3. You have full body haptics also? I would just sell psvr 2 and get the full bhaptics set up..but you probably already have that also. Definitely worth having if you dont.

      @@Vr_Demon_ i got the newer Woojer Vest Edge 3. I didn't like haptic intensity of Bhaptic(way too weak). Woojer 3 has very strong punch haptic feedback and has 5 postional audio haptics so it really works well with audio effect.
