Yep. I grew up with the original back in the 80s and motu has been my favorite franchise ever since. I love the original, but the 2002 series, animated by 'Mike Young Productions' is easily the best take on the property to date. I'd recommend that series above all others.
The only thing new about Skelegod was his name. The origin of Skelegod comes from the 1987 live action film Masters of the Universe. Revelations took pieces from every He-Man franchise except the New Adventures of He-Man and put it in thd show. When Skeletor says, "Let this be our final battle..." that line came directly verbatim from the live action film. Several of the characters were not portrayed true to character... Evil Lynn hated and dispised Skeletor and was always trying to take over. Man at Arms was too loyal to the kingdom and the planet to just go away. The king and queen were way better people than portrayed, after all, they raised the man who became He-Man. Kevin Smith claimed to be a He-Man fan, but his version was obvious to old school He-Man fans who grew up watching every day after school in the 80s that Smith wasn't a fan back in the day. In fact fans dug up old posts from Kevin Smith where he himself states he wasn't much of a He-Man fan, of course this was way before he knew he was taking on this project. While the story of Revelations is compelling, it's not true to the original series in any way.
Still don't see how this is a "straight sequel" to the 1980's cartoon. Other than the look of the characters, there are no other similarities. Revelation is more of a sequel to the 2002 series, similar tone, animation style, even Adam looks the same. It also shows Skeletor's origin in the first episode! 2002 is an earlier take on MOTU (Adam is only 16yrs old), and Revelation maybe takes place 5-10 years later (characters older, costumes change, etc). I read that theres a rights issue, so 2002 series can't be mentioned (nor can Filmation series), real reason why everyone looks different (look from the toys which is something Mattel owns). I liked King Grayskull in the 2002 series, but he did look too much like He-Man (actually looks like Savage He-Man) so I understood the change in Revelation.
Kevin Smith himself has said that Revelation is not an actual sequel. He has said it is a spiritual sequel. They do not have the rights to the Filmation show nor the 200X show by Mike Young Productions. Revelation is it's own take on the motu property and it exists within it's own continuity. The reason King Grayskull looks so much like He-Man is because the King Grayskull design was originally going to be used for He-Man himself. Ultimately they settled on the look we saw in the show and toy line. They later decided to use the scrapped He-Man design for King Grayskull. I don't see any problem what so ever with them looking so much alike. They are of the same bloodline after all. The two of them looking alike wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. I'd also note that the Revelation version of Skeletor comes from a race of skull headed beings from another dimension, unlike the 200X version who was once Keldor. This was revealed in the tie-in comics to Revelation which were written by Kevin Smith himself.
Both Revelations and the She-Ra reboot have made me a Masters of the Universe fan. I think as it stands now, She-Ra has better characters, story, and thematic potency, but I love how Revelation at every turn is able to deliver fanservice while still making its own compelling story that also works for people who are new. I also love its art style and how committed and wonderful in execution it is to animated action. One of the things I loved about Skelegod in the show is how it captures that even with all the power of Greyskull in his hands, he's still the same Skeletor he always was. Kind of a moron...
Mark Hamil did a good job voicing Skeletor in HMATMOTU: Revelation. However, I will always know Hamil for being The Joker in Batman: TAS and the Arkham franchise!
Revalations was not bad but if they keep it going they need to keep He-man in the Mix. It was interesting to explor "a World without He-man " but at the end of the day: MOTU without him dose not work.

@@MarvelousVideos where is it?
Who knew Mark Hamill would nail it as Skeletor
When hasnt he nailed a role?
He nailed Luke Skywalker, Joker, Skips and Mervyn Pumpkinhead
I thought the Netflix animated series of Masters of the Universe Revelation is a spiritual not a direct sequel.
This is the same godman we got a short glimse of in the movie
Seems kinda weird skeletors subordinates feel used on his return, wasn’t their undying loyalty in all hos failed plans them being used?
Amazing and you forgot the other new he man and master of universe
I keep wondering which is the true origin of skeleton as its either he is he man's uncle or a skeletal creature from another world. I read the deluxe hardcover comic that has the original minicomics and tv series tie ins. in it skeleton was an invader from another world who wielded a piece of the sword of power.
Dude this garbage felt more like a funeral
Can you do Faker origins? I cant seem to find one....
For those who dont know spickor is spikor's brother 😅
I don't know why people hated on this series. I liked the different direction it took.
I hope horde primes mystery exposed
nice
Hordak he is interes to attack eternia for his own gain
2nd season i. June 2022? It is August. Already
Yeah killing he man was stupid
Is it sequel?!?!? Is it not a sequel!?!! I feel like it is whatever you want it to be in your own head cannon!!!!! In my personal opinion... it was just OK!! It had ups downs good stuff bad stuff... but over all it was at least interesting .... if a second season does happen at least have more He Man!!!! And perhaps they. Can possibly retcon some stuff and just call it a sequel!!!!! And end the controversy!!!! Just my two cents!!!!!
It's not a sequel to the Filmation show. Kevin Smith himself has said it's a spiritual sequel which would put Revelation within it's own continuity. Here are some of his tweets confirming it's a spiritual sequel.
"The show's producer is Mattel- so everything we do in REVELATION is more toy- based. The old show is owned by another studio, which is why I've always said our Mastersofficial series is a spiritual sequel to the old show. Legally, we can't be an actual sequel to Filmation."
"If by "wok" folks mean the female characters have agency, then Revelation is exactly as woke as the cartoon to which our series is a spiritual sequel because Teela and Evil-Lyn were in every ep, fighting alongside He-Man & Skeletor. And Sorceress is more powerful than all of 'em."
So, again, Revelation is not a direct sequel to the Filmation show. It is it's own take on the property and exists within it's own continuity. This would also explain why Evil-Lyn's and Roboto's origins are different in Revelation.
Revelations is easily the best iteration of He-man to date, and yes, Skeletor stole the damn show. I did a review on my channel.
I guess that’s a spin u could pretty up for the pile of garbage this story was…
I hope hordak will terrible villain too
Its not even a direct sequel its a reboot 🤭 🤭🤭
Not even a reboot.
@@CommanderBohn its a reboot, what they done to the 3 towers its not even a heaven thing it existed in th og storyline as preternia namely central tower, grayskull tower and viper tower it was built for a truce in their 3 way war.
@@wretchedthe638 Yeah no. No normal person wanted this nor will acknowledge it. It was so bad people prefer the new CGI He-Man which is also surprisingly good.
@@CommanderBohn man that cgi one! surpassed my expectations, actually to the point im loving it,the only thing i like in the MOTUR is with the epilogue their revelation with motherboard is very sinister great way to reveal hordak and the horde.,
Opinion paid for and sponsored by Netflix.
There was nothing good about this skeletor
This don't sound so bad but I heard whole crap.
You’re wrong this garbage is nothing like the original this new garbage is not Canaan
So clown fish lied about this show.
Meh Remake reboot same crap to me
This is why this stupid show isn’t in the top ten
That’s not the epic skeletor there’s nothing epic about this trash
The narrator pronounced ‘Spikor’ wrong. Sounded like a racial slur … not cool man.
haha dont go and rewatch the original he-man its so campy, im so suprised that i as a kid loved this show that has so much gay undertone in it, like damn shows back then had some secret sumbliminal messaging. im happy i didnt turn gay
Thank F I never watched this, the storytelling is terrible 👎🏻
Spick-Or? 🤣🤣🤣 and un-briddled? If you are saying a word you’re unsure of how it is pronounced, may I suggest Google? 🤷🏻♂️
