The good news is she’s highly employable and already has several offers. But this was completely unacceptable either way.
Well said
She's working for CityNews now as a special correspondent.
@@ChuckNorrisFake Is there any evidence of this?
@@ChuckNorrisFake ironically you've done the same - (supposedly) read something somewhere and taken it as the truth. contrarians like you are the same; say that people so easily accept what they are told first but you, on the other hand, turn right around and accept what you hear second. in any case, no matter what laflamme was let go because of, comments about appearance are uncalled for.
so why would she want to go back and work with that same company?
For my American friends who don’t know, Lisa is a prominent news figure in Canada. Her 11pm broadcast on CTV news had the highest ratings for a news broadcast in Canada for years including recently, & as mentioned in the video she is a 35 year veteran with the company. Meanwhile the exec who fired her had only been her boss since JANUARY & bragged before that he ruins any career of individuals who speak up to him. He didn’t like her hair & he didn’t like that she was a women with prominence. So glad this story is getting the international attention it deserves. Justice for Lisa!
His name is Michael Melling. He deserves to have his name posted everywhere.
#1. I have always admired her delivery of the news.
#2. Her hairstyle, color, makeup and clothes has always been impeccable
#3. I never even noticed her having Grey hair this past year. Now that I have. Wow. It's a beautiful Grey and it is nicely styled.
She is smart, respected and attractive.
You have all forgotten that no one is watching CTV, Global and especially CBC news anymore, for the division they are helping to create.
That is agist and discrimination.
Hahahahahah, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love see all these liberal media idiots go down. Lisa has been pumping liberal nonsense for long enough. Now they are disposing of her like they do everyone. 🤣🤣 She had it coming just like the rest of yoh liberals. Yoh all have it coming.
She looks Amazing with her grey hair! She is 100% professional and we stand with her!

Yeah, a lot of people can't pull it off that well and she looks stunning actually. Very distinguished.

Yes. Looks *more* trustworthy, too!
What about black women who can’t wear their natural hair at work? These women are entitled. The color can be changed.

It looks great. Sometimes all it takes is some purple shampoo to maintain. My mom used to dye her hajr every 2 or 3 weeks. Its an unhealthy habit.
Same reason why you don't see black women have afros and locs as news anchors. Either follow the guidelines or get lost.
Gray hair doesn’t just happen to “old” people. I started getting gray hair at 25. When I got pregnant at 30, I stopped dying it and am now almost 37. Haven’t colored my hair in almost 7 years. I get told by hair stylists that I’m “going grey beautifully”. I embrace my salt and pepper hair!
But being "old" and gray is okay too.
I had my first gray hair at 17, it spread to where it was half black and half gray by my later 20s. Premature gray runs in my mother's side of the family. I had more gray hair than my 30 year older father when he died at 85.

2. Nice job sucking up to rich people, did you ever get anything out of that? Or are you just so brainwashed to accept anything they do as being in the right because they are rich?
It’s because she looks gorgeous with gray hair and everyone else doesn’t so they don’t want the competition.
It sounds ridiculous, but so does firing someone over gray hair.
Lawsuit time!
There's literally no other explanation other than jealousy to why they would fire her for it

Sorry to hear... but if you think that's bad, what do you think men have to face when they go bald??? Yet if you do the research you will find MOST GENIUSES and MOST OF THE RICHEST MEN ON EARTH HAVE BEEN / ARE BALD OR BALDING by the time they reach middle age, some lose it sooner than others but it's still the same. Age is real folks, one shouldn't be discriminated because of their hair or lack of it! How about the other great quality that makes a person instead of just "looks"! This is VERY superficial!
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ you need Brahman.
I started going grey at 18. We go grey young in my family. (But on the flip side - we never go bald, even in old age!) It’s not an outrageous amount of greys but it’s noticeable enough. I remember being around 23 and one of my older female coworkers noticed it and expressed shock. She asked me why I didn’t dye it. I told her because I liked it. She repeated what I said to her with a look of confusion on her face and I just said “yes, I like it. I think it looks cool.” And walked away. I remember thinking how deeply insecure and pathetic that woman must be. I’m in my 30s now and I still don’t dye it! Still don’t care! And still think it looks cool!
People look so much better when they age naturally. The people in this world who pressure others to get cosmetic work, and destroy their hair with harsh chemicals, need to be ignored. That woman is gorgeous with her natural hair. Shame on anybody that is so shallow.
I Agree
People look better when they age naturally AND have good genes. Lotta “good looking” older ladies you see probably have facelifts and/or Botox and you don’t even know.
This!!!!
@@gummy5862 yes just as we shouldn’t shame people going natural we shouldn’t shame those who choose to get something done or to dye their hair. It’s really no one’s business but their own
Those harsh chemicals are also toxic. In the US & Canada, hair colorants contain proven cancer-causing ingredients. And we soak them into our scalp. It's kind of horrifying. Our loving governments tell us that small amounts of toxic sludge are generally "safe".
Cancer-causing ingredients in hair colorants are banned in European countries. Europeans can color their hair without giving themselves cancer.
So this story struck me because it was like "Soak your head in cancer-causing crap or you're fired."
This news is going international. So embarrassing!

And most of all, she does a great job.

Kim: Remember this name and look it up: Carmen Dell'Orefice. You've probably seen her in ad campaigns. She's been a model since 1947, I think, a model mind you. Someone paid to epitomize some man's concept of beauty. Dell'Orefice has been grey since God knows when and at 91 is still possibly the most elegant model in the world for wearing the classiest gowns. So, it's not like grey can't be super-classy. But that is not the purpose of a reporter, to look classy and beautiful wearing fancy clothes. If it is, shall I rattle of a list of men, Bell Media, who should never have been reporters on TV, because they don't fit my concept of handsome?
@@trifulquita15 While I agree "ageism" is utterly ridiculous and pure nonsense, I personally don't want someone younger, I want someone who's a professional and good at their job. What good would it do if we got only younger reporters, but they all sucked? Professionally-wise, quality should trump any other characteristics
I am flabbergasted as she is absolutely stunning! Some women gray when they are in their 20s. And men are allowed to go gray and be gray and work forever. It's sickening.
It's hereditary. Like eye color, big or small nose, flat feat, early onset baldness, yada, yada. My father's first grey hair manifested itself AT AGE TEN. I think it makes the individual look distinguished, regardless of gender.
Absolutely! Plus Anderson copper didn't get fired. I know it's different companies but why is it a bad thing!? Like what can we do about it 😭
@Mr. Shark Tooth I think you would be upset if you were made redundant from your job just for going bald. Especially if it was a non-issue for women, if they could bald and they could retain their jobs until they wanted to retire, or died.
Or you, as a male, had childhood onset alopecia, and couldn't get work in your chosen field of journalist reporting, especially when, of bald women they were saying 'bald is beautiful!'. (The flipped equivalent of grey haired women being called 'old and ugly' and grey haired men being called 'silver foxes').
Listen, when I was a child I thought grey hair people was old. Now that I am an adult, you begin to learn that your hair can be grey at any age because it is losing pigments that keeps it the color it is. I actually love seeing people who hair is grey because it looks devine, especially when they style it to make it glow.
To fire someone because of it is just ridiculously stupid and they should be ashamed.
What a sexist, ageist and despicable thing to do. Her hair was stunning, and the double standard that men can go grey but women can’t is beyond toxic. Her professionalism and commitment to excellence in her reporting is all that should matter.
Prob a small little man angry and mad at woman cause he was like Andrew tate so they left him
Whenever women decide to do something that men have been doing since the end of time. Society looks down on us. Men let their hair go gray ,also men do not wear concealer, foundation, false eyelashes, or wigs. Neither do I but my point is women are treated different. Men that has frowlines or double chin. Nothing would be said, women would be criticized.

Not even gonna reply to the out of pocket reply above the one before mine but let me just say all women are beautiful and awesome as long as they are great humans who aren't toxic. Same with men, all are beautiful old and young unless they are legit bad people.
She looks absolutely stunning. I had dark brown hair and started getting white hairs when I was 13. I was embarrassed and hid it for years. My hair also grew fast and I was spending lots of money every 3 months on my hair. I’m 32 now and when the pandemic hit, I made the decision to go natural and let my salt and pepper hair grow out. Once in awhile I still get ignorant comments from relatives who haven’t seen me in a long time but most of them come from my narcissist brother. Society is just so used to not seeing young people with white and grey hair.
I’m sorry your brother is a poop head to you :( Props to you for letting your natural beauty shine. Your day in the picture is really cute btw :)
Young people with grey hair look sooo nice though! It's even a trend, some people bleach their hair to be entirely white or silver and with a young face it gives you a supernatural look I think (because in our brain we're not conditioned to associate young faces with silver hair) so it could look like a style rather than just you naturally going grey. Also u can just tell them that you like Rogue from Xmen. I think society's problem with grey hair is more intense for older women because the visual age of their face match the hair and medias are like "oh no we don't want old people, we want forever young looking people so at least dye them to confuse the eye" which is very dehumanizing

Me too, I'm 17 currently and started getting grays since 12. I was, and still am, insecure about it but am working on accepting this part of myself
She deserves to keep her job because she still looks stunning? What if she didn't look stunning? What if she went bald and her face was deformed? Would you say she should be fired because now she doesn't look 'absolutely stunning'? People like you are the true enemies of the feminist movement.
Gray hair looks so good on people and is inevitable. I have not seen a single person that looked bad with gray hair, as long as you take care of yourself it looks amazing.
I have an evil vain aunt that would bully my grandmother into dying her hair, she had the most BEAUTIFUL gray hair. She only ended up keeping the gray when she was in chemo and wasn’t allowed to dye it. She loved her new natural hair and it made her so happy. Let people look how they want and mind your business!
I have been studding Stem cells and they do eventually die out "become senescent" when they create new daughter working cells. My theory on hair pigment follicles is they are the first to die out before other cells because they go into Mitosis far faster then other cells in the body.
She is stunning with her gray mane! She will definitely be appreciated elsewhere! If she's a top broadcaster she's going to get another top job and that dummy who fired her is not going to last long in this business!
I don't believe the real intensions here. I am not saying it's right. But she had been in the business for years and she knows how it goes. They are going to still be in the air. I can see s triker roos on this right away. You ate not going to go these mega corps. And they are going to fire the next one too. Because they are not going to have employees setting precedents.
We hope.
The guy who used to do my hair 25 yrs ago told me "When men go gray, they look distinguished, and when women go gray, they just look old." Great marketing ploy...kept me dying it for 20 years. When the pandemic hit, I let it go natural and haven't looked back.
It’s true I hate to break it to you
The guy who.......did your hair? My husband has many celebrity crushes who have grey hair. But then again he's straight so that might be a reason for the difference of opinion.
Double standards matter. It’s bs, but true.
The guy is right. Sorry. But women look better with grey hair. All natural. 60 yr old men with fit body, silver fox hair, 6 figures, they look gorgeous Sean Connery.
I've never feel for the trap of dying my hair and I'm 40. People can bite if they feel I should look younger for my age.
So unfair. There's *tons* of men on TV who go grey and never face any issues with job stability. Women are constantly pressured to prevent themselves from aging naturally and look good on camera, it breaks my heart what these women go through. 1st, she's freaking STUNNING!!! Wow!! I was drawn in by her hair and her eyes. 2nd, she has an impressive, remarkable resume. I hope she doesn't go back but moves on to bigger and better things.
Remember that she was always such.
Lisa LaFlamme is our national treasure! 🇨🇦 Award winning and on top of her game reporting from all over the world. When the previous anchor left there were tributes and thank yous. Not even an announcement was given when she was forced to leave. She was made to stay silent for a month by the company and treated so disrespectfully. Canadians are furious! The person who fired her is now on leave. That's who should be fired! Bring Lisa back!
When did she let her grey hair show? Doesn't say in the video.
@@standepain She went gray in 2020. I think she was let go because they could save money by hiring someone with less experience.
I loved how she wrapped up the end of every story. If your comment was the end of her story she would say something like. "That's appalling " , that is totally un-professional.
@@teagarden874 I was going to say. Every clip they showed she had grey hair...and looked amazing so I think you're spot on. Shame.
They only did this so they can give a ⚫ person her position. They're slowly trying to get rid of us. Diggers
For all the things that are said in media and society in general, for accepting people for who they are, this is incredibly contradictory and shallow.
She's a beautiful lady and a great reporter. The company should be ashamed!
its called professionalism. She made a choice to ruin her career.
@@eduardochavacano How exactly did she "ruin her career", troll?
@@eduardochavacano Choosing to wear her natural hair color makes her less professional and ruined her career? Really? Apparently Ted Koppel, Walter Cronkite, Bob Woodward, Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, and Anderson Cooper were/are all extremely unprofessional. I can't imagine how it didn't ruin their careers. They must be lucky.

My mother used to say "it's in the Bible" that women earn their "silver crown of glory." Her positive view of going gray meant that when I got my first gray hair, I cherished it, brushing very careful over that spot to help it grow, and when a friend of mine saw it and plucked it out for me, I almost cried. I want pure silver bangs, and one day earn my silver crown. 🥈
This woman looks amazing and hello! Isn’t gray hair the new trend? That’s like firing a black woman for wearing her natural hair in its natural form. Discrimination! If they are not going to fire all the men who have gone gray, this is blatant discrimination.
She is beautiful!!! Her hair is beautiful! It’s not like she went on air with blackened teeth and a frizzy wig!!!! I went all gray and hit more compliments than I ever received with coloring my hair! Freed me mind, body and spirit! Stick to your guns girl!
and wear it proudly!
Same here
My 74 year old neighbor lady kept coloring her her reddish and she finally stopped doing it and it's better that way.
Blackened teeth and a frizzy wig? You slick and vague with your sh*t. 😂
So... what’s wrong with blackened teeth and a frizzy wig?
I'm a 69 year old woman in the US and this is my first time seeing Lisa. She is a beautiful woman with a lovely color of gray. If she still performed her duty as she has in the past then they have no right firing her. It is pure ageism which is nothing new in the TV business.

Bcz anything forced = violance. Society is made by PEOPLE. Is not a room or a bag or a bunch of amoebas where you just push an agenda. It works for a little then it slaps you in the face.
Her gray hair looks amazing. As long as she looks polished and professional, what’s the problem…
I find it interesting how literally no one doubts her claim. Just went through quite a few comments and not a single one has any doubt. Honestly I'm not even saying I that don't believe her, I'm just amazed at how quickly everyone assumes that what they hear is the truth. This just shows what you can do when you get in front of a story, control the framing and let the mob do it's work.
Welcome to the world wide web
As a male Canadian I have always admired the absolute professionalism this LADY has represented! I hope she returns to a rival media organization and brings all those important listeners and their ratings with her!
She has. CityNews hired her as a special correspondent.
Disgusting what they are doing instead of focusing on important events she's reporting! Not her physical appearance!
Yet her physical appearance is stunning. She is STUNNING.
The thing is she looks good for her age and looks good in Grey
It's funny how Lisa is getting condemned for her gray hair and it is trending style by young girl and women. What's the problem?
@fook yoo Our opinions makes us all unique and in my opinion she is stunning to me. It's not an argument it's an opinion. Moveover it's all about the treatment Lisa received, which I would not like to experience.
Im a hairdresser and I encourage clients to go gray. I fight with the ageism. Gray is gorgeous.
Gray is Gorgeous! Bald is gorgeous!
Her hair looks amazing! That’s just incredible.
I hope she takes them to court and this better change. As a current millennial, I'm not going to spend money on dyeing my hair later in life just to keep my job. How exhausting. No woman should have to endure the double standard.
She should certainly sue them.
Men go Grey will they be fired too
Or you and a thousand angry women can start a news channel that only hires older women 🤔🤔
We also have to wear makeup to get a promotion because we have to “look presentable”
@Raquel. What’s wrong with looking presentable? 🧐
I'm going to rock my gray hair when I get old. We should embrace our aging. We're all going to get old. It's just a fact.
LOL I rock my white beard and bald head...and I like my women pale with or without hair....LOL
Me too …proudly …aging is a privilege to be celebrated and grey hair is so beautiful too
My younger sister died when she was 35, I’m sure she would have like the opportunity to go grey. Not everyone is so fortunate to live long enough to see grey hair, so it certainly should be celebrated
Im a redhead so I’ll go straight white haired when I’m older
I look forward to it, always thought grey and white hair looked awesome
I’m 66 years and retired at 62 and since then I’ve never colored my hair and I love it. There’s a time as you age that your greying hair looks more natural and continuing to color it looks very unnatural and phony. Unfortunately some in our society associate looks with a person’s cognition. A good example is our President Biden’s bashing by his opponents on the right wing propaganda networks. Whoever made the decision to fire this lovely lady seem to forget they will get older and that’s a fact. Ageism is disrespectful and should not be tolerated.
About 18 months into covid my wife decided to stop coloring her hair after almost 20 years, though she's still in her 40s. She struggled with the decision at first but I supported her as much as I could and it looks great, just like Lisa's. It just happens to be grey now. It has given her a new found freedom.
I actually love 😍🤩 her hair this way. The color looks fabulous on her. Natural beauty is usually the best way to go.
I moved from the US to France in 2017. Prior to moving, I died my hair. Once I moved to France, I stopped. I have have now been totally grey for 3 years and I love it! So glad to hear Lisa is getting so much support.
Amy how do local culture treat you with grey hair? France may have some high taxes but it has the best social safety net in the world.
I want my hair to go grey like this. I think it's so beautiful. Its just terrible how society hates women who are old. It's disgusting.
This is crazy! I've had greys since my 20s, and while I don't dye it, it is so much maintaining!! How ridiculous, to let an employee go over such stupid thing! The people who did this should be ashamed of themselves.
I had Greys since was 12
I knew a guy in high-school with gray hair...
I started getting white hairs noticeably at 20 too, but I also remember my mom telling me I was born with a few white hairs as well. It’s so weird.
I started turning gray at the age of 29. Funny thing...At the age of 39, a couple of store clerks thought my 44 year old, dark haired hubby was my son!! He didn't start turning gray until about 60. I figure I earned each and every one of those gray hairs!! It's a male dominated world...men are allowed to turn gran and gain weight and nothing is said. Women are always looked at differently. Why? Because it's men doing the looking!
Take on the Cowardly backstabbing man babies !
It is a blessing to get old. Not everyone does.
Gray hair should be normalized. Dyeing your hair constantly will only result to major problems. I don't see anything wrong with aging. It seems like people are particularly against some things for no lingering reasons.
Normalized? People go grey hair normally. It’s a common thing that happens to everyone. HOWEVER. In the entertainment industry, that may be the standard. Ijs.
What major problems does dyeing one’s hair lead to though it does seem logical that it would.
I'm 46 and have been going gray since I was 18! At 45 I decided to embrace it and quit coloring it. I LOVE the convenience and the health of my hair without all the color!! Go GRAY!!!
After coloring my hair for 30 years I finally went gray last year and I love it. I don’t care if people think I look older. I don’t care what they think!

That CEO needs to get demoted. Not even fired, that's too easy. His ego would be shattered if he got knocked down a few pegs. How fragile do you need to be to get a position as a CEO, and then feel threatened by a news anchor who has no interest in your job? Let her do what she's good at, and do what you're supposedly good at (or, at least have the qualifications on paper for).
It seems Michael melling came into the position in January..he was overhead saying he destroys the careers of anyone who tries to stand up to him. I quess its not just the US that has a monopoli on men that are total jerks
Michael Melling is an irrelevant insecure little man who needs to be ousted and taken down from his position. People like him are the last to deserve to be CEO or leader of anything. I hope he loses his job indefinitely and that there is outrage over this.

Lisa LaFlamme has such poise and compassion in every story that she casts.
I miss her immensely !!!
If someone is instructed to misrepresent their age on television news, and they agree, how can we trust anything they say ? They have already demonstrated that they bend the truth when told to do so.
You go Mme LaFlamme ! You are absolutely beautiful regardless of your hair colour!
Wait till you hear about makeup my guy.
Women face this every day. I went grey, have been overlooked for work progression and treated like someone with few capabilities. Discrimination against someone who has not followed 'tradition'
She's absolutely BEAUTIFUL and her hair only makes her look even more lovely. That colour exists in artificial hair colours.....I've often thought about it! It's gorgeous!!!!! Women look AMAZING with grey hair, men do too! Aging is a beautiful, natural process we ALL go through.
It’s fascinating to me to see how so many young people have embraced grey hair by sporting the look themselves!
Thanks to them I believe more people are starting to see grey hair as one of many bold and beautiful hair colors, regardless of a person’s age. It’s time for the media to catch up,…and grow up!
I am so happy to see the trend of more women letting go of the toxic chemicals and the toxic mentality that has kept women chained for too long. I stopped dyeing mine long before the pandemic but I believe that this was one tiny benefit to come out of the lockdown world. 🙌👏👏👏
I hope this lovely, and obviously highly intelligent, woman gets offered a far better opportunity out of this major mistake made by that station.
Me too! Toxic chemicals is not to have when preg so I wonder how they add up when not preg? Who cares what color or if men r bald, which is better than taupees half the time. As long as hair is clean & she does her job well. Men can do news until they cant but women CANNOT AGE!🤷♀️
It is possible to color hair without toxic chemicals. There are natural products available.
@@calisongbird you really missed the point
And I am “satisfied that this IS the case!” I am a soon to be 61 year old woman who, during the pandemic decided to let my hair grow out and it isn’t grey, it is a beautiful silver just like Lisa’s. This archaic thinking about how a woman should look on screen is incredibly stupid! As long as a person looks clean and tidy, speaks in truth and is professional, that should be the end of it. Lisa may also want to look into her termination due to the fact they can “hire” someone else on the cheap and under thirty-five.

Totally conditioned....excellent documentary is Pink Ribbons, Inc. about this issue: cosmetics, dyes, products and cancer...and the corporations (like Dove and Wendy's and Yoplait yogurt on and on) that jump on "feminist cause" bandwagon for marketing and tax breaks.
Get a life
Men will accept grey hair on women when women accept low-income men.
This reminds me of a story a co-worker told some years ago. An office full of men were getting fidgety because a female co-worker was pregnant and starting to show. So the office manager said every employee will walk up to the wall if their belly touches the wall before their toes they must be let go. The result, no one was let go because most of the men had a belly bigger than the pregnant woman.
Which is crazy because she is literally creating a life inside her body, which most of those conservatives would yell and scream about as sacred, but don’t want to even look at her? Seriously, but funny that the manager called out their beer bellies

Ageism is real and it affects women the hardest starting at 30 we're devalued in society (western society)
Brokeism is real and effects Men the hardest.
Starting at 18 men are devalued by women until they have money.
So why should men have sympathy for a over the hill gray hair woman??
