it was great hearing these guys kickback and talk about the film. it's my first time hearing Kurt Russell's take on it hands down one of my all time favorites all in part to coming up in the 80s. Mid to late 80s he was the man! a lot to do with why I went ahead and checked this video out almost every film he starred in I thought did legendary. Couldn't take my eyes off his acting for a second. Just this string of amazing movies but getting back to this. hearing the laughter and the thoughts on certain parts was so stoic. hearing their take on this amazing film just ended all these years of wondering of how they thought and what they felt about the movie. Just amazing hearing these guys take on this imo, an amazing film. Can't wait to hear more interviews with Kurt if he ever gets back on here and does more commentary same with Carpenter and Keith David. Really everyone just phenomenal! 😄 😎
I have no problem watching Carpenter's The Thing at any time any day. I'm sure we can all agree to that. I tell you this though, I'd totally listen to Kurt Russell laugh for 90 minutes and I'd have permagrin all day. "Love that Joker" face. 😆
this is my favorite thing i watched this last month, please keep up this content i guarantee it will last for many years to come and i for one will come back in a few years to revisit this thing.
I remember going to the movie theatre to see this when it came out. It was the most fun I had at any movie up to that time. I went because it was a John Carpenter film and it was great.
Even the Thing didn't know it was the Thing 😄 I love love love how these guys can just sit and nostalgicly laugh their socks off at their own iwn work 😍
Just an FYI but Kurt is the bomb in commentaries. They're usually as entertaining as the films he's talking about. His other 2 with Mr. Carpenter (Escape From New York and Big Trouble in Little China) are terrific and the one he did with the makers of Used Cars is riotously funny.
The Thing (1982) directed by John Carpenter will always be my number 1 favorite sci-fi horror movie and it's because The Thing (1982) is the only horror movie that has scared me and disturbed me a lot more than any other horror movie ever created as well:).
They keep talking about the wall but never mentioned the metal pieces on the pool table around the 40 minute mark. I can’t find any discussion on the metal pieces.
It’s crazy because The Thing came out the same year E.T. came out and most sci-fi movies that year got overshadowed by E.T. As a kid, E.T was box office, as an adult, THE THING kicks ET’s Asthma 😂
It's pretty chopped up, yeah. Guys, just go find the DVD commentary. It's a whole movie worth of this. I'm pretty sure you can hear the scotch glasses clinking at times!
IF CHILDS WAS THE THING HE WOULD ATTACK MACREADY IN THE LAST SCENE!!! THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE THING NOT TO ATTACK HUMAN WHEN ONLY 1-ON-1 LEFT!!! SO HE WASN'T.
It's heartwarming hearing them laughing their asses off during THAT scene.
Very good commmentary.
the blue tones in the thing are absolutely beautiful
Yes! It helps to psychologically confirm the bleak cold seclusion that the characters are experiencing.
Blue tones were in halloween also
@Njbear7453 I know. Beautiful too. Just blue makes the cold seem colder.
if you like blue toned movies check out thief by michael mann
Thanks for dropping the second part before 2024, it's been a long difficult year and these videos have helped more than you can imagine.
Hope ur doing good anyhow my man

Kurt Russell's laugh is infectious.
Who knew…..The Thing was a comedy this entire time.
Thanks Kurt.

The scene where they are strapped in the chairs freaking out 😂😂😂
Life long fan of this classic ❤️

7:47 wow! For years, I thought Carpenter had stated there was a definitive answer.
Such a great movie.
His best movie by far.

The Thing and Alien.. the two greatest sci-fi horrors of all time
The Thing > Alien
Can we discuss the audio mix and visuals of the beginning? WOW....😮
I really love this channel. Good videos. Good commenters.
That HAT 🤠
Carpenter's masterpiece
Kurt was the first person to wear the "Urban Sombrero".
They keep talking about the wall but never mentioned the metal pieces on the pool table around the 40 minute mark. I can’t find any discussion on the metal pieces.
Kurt has a great laugh.

Most exciting, bat shit crazy flick of 1982! The practical effects by Winston are jawdropping here holy crap! I was bored with E.T., man. Lol
True
Masterpiece
Great Thing
Rad 👍
Kurts laugh is funny..
haaaa.. gotta be one of the best commentaries EVER
Lmao.. I forgot that they beat the shit out of Wilfred Brimley 😂😂😂
Wouldn’t you?
WATCH CLARK!
"I'll keel yew!"
God damn, John and Kurt are just having a blast, lmao.
So Macready was THE THING
Bake sale 🫡
too bad this commentary is edited horribly, the original is great.
It's pretty chopped up, yeah. Guys, just go find the DVD commentary. It's a whole movie worth of this. I'm pretty sure you can hear the scotch glasses clinking at times!
This video proves mccready was never the thing
I guess it's more comedic for Kurt Russel,I don't see what's so funny tho.
How is it 'great commentary' listening to an annoying laugh for 10 mins straight
Humorless bastard!
IF CHILDS WAS THE THING HE WOULD ATTACK MACREADY IN THE LAST SCENE!!! THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE THING NOT TO ATTACK HUMAN WHEN ONLY 1-ON-1 LEFT!!! SO HE WASN'T.
