  • Introduction to 5S (Senses of Quality)
    .
Initial stage and basis for the implementation of total quality, the 5S methodology is so called due to the first letter of 5 Japanese words: Seiri (Classification), Seiton (Order), Seiso (cleaning), Seiketsu (hygiene), Shitsuke (Discipline).
The program aims to mobilize, motivate and make the entire company aware of Total Quality, through organization and discipline in the workplace.
The methodology makes it possible to develop a systematic planning, immediately allowing for greater productivity, safety, organizational climate and employee motivation, with a consequent improvement in organizational competitiveness.
The purposes of the 5S methodology are to improve efficiency through the proper disposal of materials (separating what is necessary from the unnecessary), organization, cleaning and identification of materials and spaces and the maintenance and improvement of 5S itself.
The main benefits of the 5S methodology are:
    - Greater productivity by reducing wasted time looking for objects. Only objects that are necessary and within reach are left in the environment
    - Reduction of expenses and better use of materials. Excessive accumulation of materials encourages disorganization.
    - Improvement of the quality of products and services
    - Reduction of work accidents
    - Greater job satisfaction
