Tyra had no right to yell at her, everyone goes through mental illness differently. It's not easy dealing with mental health, for her getting irritable and laughing is her way of showing suffrage. I guess Tyra was trying to make her behave more mature but she should be more understanding.
Hey, suffrage means the right to vote, I think the word you're looking for is suffering, it's a common mistake, I learned the hard way :)
She wasn't trying to make her more mature; she was trying to make her cry. You watch the whole thing and she literally goes on this rant because the girl didn't have enough of an emotional response to being thrown off. Literally put the girl through anger management to compose herself, but when she does compose herself, Tyra decides it's time to flip a switch and go full emotional manipulation. Nasty.

I don't get why you mentioned mental ILLNESS, as this woman did not have any sort of mental illness? I think you just meant "deal with EMOTIONS differently", as a mental illness is very different.
Also Tyra kept pushing her to cry because she wanted a good show, there was no "wanting her to act mature", cause it actually is mature to be able to compose yourself in a situation like that and not cry and instead go and try to make the OTHER girls feel less sad.
She also wasnt irritable at all in the clips if you actually watch them, she was normal and then kept getting screamed at by the actual insane person called Tyra, and then just tried to stand up for herself. Big difference between being "irritable" and just trying to stand up for yourself when being verbally attacked for quite a while. There is 0 "irritable" behaviour here, and the show just tried to make this another case of "angry black woman" when she was the most mature anyone can be in that situation whilst Tyra was a toddler fishing for tears for tv.
In conclusion, Tyra is just a horrible person, point blank.
Tyra wanted to see a black woman do better. When this aired, and yall were still babies, everyone understood that she was rooting for Tiffany. Tiffany tried out for the season before and didn't make it cause she faught a random chick at a bar. Then she went through anger management and helped Brandy get over her anger. She was a mentor on the show and people knew she could win. When people criticize ANTM i just roll my eyes. The only thing that show did wrong was have too many seasons. But for us who were watching the UPN network, that show was a culture.

I hope that model that got yelled at by Tyra is living her best life right now. Just because she fake smiled and laughed doesn't mean she should be screamed at on television to cry like all the other girls. She didn't deserve to be treated like that at all and I feel like Tyra never liked her from the beginning.
It's really sad that I grew up watching the show with my grandma, idolizing Tyra banks, wishing I could be on the show one day and be a size 0 too. No wonder I struggled so much with my appearance in high school :/ Thank goodness shit like that is absolutely not okay anymore.
You should rewatch. I forgot her name but the model volunteered to leave on that episode. Three girls went home. She didn’t do well in her photo shoots and gave up. It felt like a betrayal to Tyra. Everyone was rooting for her including Tyra. I’m pretty sure that’s why they had her last in the show longer than she should have. Tyra looks like a huge overreacting bitch out of context, but she didn’t yell at her for no reason.

I know that media often casts adults as teenagers and the teenagers that are famous on social media look older than they actually are, but that's really in the minority. Most teenagers don't really post on social media (as in trying to get famous) and those who do are usually 16+. There's such a physical and mental difference between a 14 and a 16 year old. Plus you have to keep in mind a lot of ppl on social media lie about their age for a trend (like there was this guy claiming to be 14 but was actually 19).
