I worked with a manager who was a little too interested in my reproductive problems because he happened to see me crying in my car (off the clock and off company property, mind you) and was just a little too concerned. I told him to back off several times, and he wouldn't. I told him I appreciated his concern, but I didn't need it, because I have a husband (we were a month away from the wedding). He goes "Well, not yet" and it severely creeped me out. My fiancé came by to talk to the creep's manager and he talked to me later about it and told me "You could have said 'no'". I quit about a week later. People like that are worse than the original offenders.

I explicitly mentioned the second manager shifting the blame onto me in my two week notice, and while he wasn't there when I handed it in, another one (who I liked much more) didn't seem to know about it, so I explained everything. Turned out that the operator of the restaurant and the GM gave this creep the what for and I never heard about it. As far as I knew, there was no closure and no consequences for his actions. He did stop, but I never felt "safe" around him. The manager I spoke to when I handed in my notice was super sweet about it and unilaterally said that the other guy was wrong to put the blame on me. Frankly, if I never see those guys again, that's fine with me.

I was homeless three times before the 7th grade. I did not have my own room and bed until I was a freshman in high school. I had to live 45 minutes from my school just to be able to afford to have a house. Hearing Bella's story... that humbled me and made me realize just how unfortunate some of us are in this world. Truly tragic.
