I love the Godfather movies but tbh, the best dilogy ever made is Alien and Aliens. Alien is basically a perfect film, it has no flaws, and no useless scenes. And it scared the living crap out of me when i saw it as a 11 year old. Then a year later, i saw Aliens. And i have never seen a sequel that adds so much to an original film without copying it, in my entire life. It is basically the perfect sequel.

I did read PK Dick's novel and it's tale is very different to the movie's story was and say what you will the books made much more sense than the two movies taken as a whole.

I would disagree. I thought the novel was cool, but the film has it's own take on things and is a totally great film. Not that much in common, in fact.

Film can never replace literature for the simple reason that visuals and audio kill imagination. You see a picture of a tree, you don't need to imagine a tree. And imagination is the only way to access ideas. Thats evident in this and any other video of moviemakers, there is literally no discussion of the film itself. In Blade Runner there is almost no further depth than 'is Deckard a replicant'. In this he talks about how good the visuals are and its like 'you are there'. There is no point to 'being there' if you have no desire to understand what you are experiencing. In books its ONLY ideas, the sad part of books is that they mostly try to copy film now and its JUST the 'story'. You read something like the brothers karamazov and its ALL ideas. There is literally no way to film that book even if you simply acted out the scenes. In Blade Runner the ENTIRE discussion has been about 'how has come true', which is a pretty pedantic 'idea'. Whether LA 'looks like' the fiilm, as though Scott could care less. Its shot like that to LOOK like that, not to predict anything. California is practically a drought stricken area where it NEVER rains, but thats hardly important. Questions like 'why are the replicants more human than the humans?' are virtually never brought up, except in arcane film journals.
Fortunately saturation is changing that, there are more and more youtube channels popping up discussing the ideas in the film, probably because the visuals have already been discussed to death, but its good to see it start to happen. Its very clear from these videos that even directors (the actors go without saying) barely understand the ramifications of the stories they are 'telling'.

With all due respect to Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, these guys (plus H.R. Giger) are the two founding fathers of the Alien franchise.

Lol Jimmy C is king. He makes Ridley Scott look like tommy wiseau. That's king Cameron right there. Every single time he swing he doesnt just hit home runs, he hits grand slams in the bottom of the ninth in the world series. James Cameron is a god.
