Interesting. I have some vintage Vietnam era pants with drawstring cuff, that I want to retain. And to help my mom, who is the one who sews, I thought i'd search on RUclips on how to hem without cutting the bottom off. This is very helpful; thanks Anjalee.
Thank you so much I keep trying to figure out how to do this your video help me so much. Other people make their instructions so complicated. Thank you for sharing
I was thinking to take my 4 jeans to tailor for shortening the bottom part (and thought I’ll loose original stitching at the bottom) but yes it helped me. I really didn’t know about this before. Thanks.
Really a professional way of doing this without any cut. So it can be again adjusted later if required. Very good information provided by you. Thanks I would like to know that which make and model of sewing machine you have in video? It appears very compact. Thanks with regards
Superb Ma'am!!!! Such a nice and easy way u taught , I got done from my personal tailor several times and costing me also but sometimes the rascal has shorten the length and no way left to recover.
Cut the excess up high, between the marks where you'll sew the hemming tuck, then sew the seam there. Then hem as the video shows. You'll end up with less excess fabric.
What I do is if they are my jeans, I will double stitch the hem and then trim the excess and iron them. If they are children's pants, I will whip-stitch the excess up the seams. That secures the extra length, and it is easy to let it down.
This is the comment I came to see if anyone had posted. I was thinking the same. I'm hemming a pair of pants for my grandson who's suddenly springing up like a beanpole! He can still wear size 12 around the waist but the length is almost 4 inches too short! So I'm hemming size 14s long, and tucking the hems until they're needed. Other jeans I'm scavenging to add length to his size 12s. I believe in waste not, want not. 💖😍
I think you could secure it by hand stitching a small part of the folded part to the inside part of the jeans, the thread would be less visible if done near the stitching/ thicker part of the jeans.
Bonjour Madame , Merci pour cette super astuce , je suis un homme célibat ( pour l'instant ) ..et je dois me débrouiller pour mes Jeans . Bisous de France Hubert
Also, I know that in India it is not uncommon for clothes to be made with huge seam allowances to allow for enlarging a blouse sleeve or such, but in the US it is not done that way.
I tried this but problem is the inner cloth got stuck in my feet whenever i wear it, also when i walk the lower part feels very bulky and uncomfertable its better when i cut the extra cloth instead of folding it inside
Use an invisible baste stitch if your machine has it, or do it by hand (there's YT videos on how to do it). I learned how to when I was 7 and it's very easy.
not cutting it also works, the bulk does not show at all, only issue is the slight increase in weight at the bottom which doesn't bother me much, I've been just tucking the hem outside in all my life to save alteration costs and works every day, only issue is that a color fades at the outside in fold and you can see a white line formed when you remove the fold.
How to hack any jeans to bootcut or chinos style..?? If jeans get teared from thies how to redesign n reverse engineered it to trendy style..? Nice fold hack!!
I HAVE SEEN OTHER VIDEOS BUT YOURS IS SIMPLY THE BEST ONE!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH.
I’ve seen others but how you have done this is easy and looks great
THANK YOU for showing me how to do this without wasting my time!
Wow, you saved many of my jeans from cutting off !!
Your way of doing this technique is the best I have seen so far, very simple no confusion, thank you!
This method should be used for growing up children because if their length increases by time we can open it again.
Hehehe ya

Thank you
I'm a single man, but I'm definitely going to try this although I will have to sew by hand. Thank you.
I also sew by hand
Nice. Can this be done for ordinary men's pants???
Hi mam that was so easy and I have a doubt for narrow fit cotton trousers and jeans is it possible ,as it gets narrower please suggest
It is applicable only on parallel jeans which are top to the bottom on the same width
So it doesn't work on flares?
Can you use this method for pants with thinner fabric?
This was really simple....I tired it and turn out well...too happy...thanks a lot for this video

Am a new subscriber to ur channel. Can we remove the close inside after sewing?
If you want to take off for example 10cm and the hem is 1,3cm
Than the white line should be at 11,3cm or am I wrong here?
Can I use this trick for any kind of pants?? Or it is only for jeans?

Super and Helpful idea.. thanku sister
It’s been awhile since I’ve hemmed jeans, but this is the method I used. There’s no way to mimic an original hem by traditional hemming method.
ये तो बहुत जबरदस्त वीडियो
It's superb. Maine ye video pahle kyu nhi dekha.. You are awesome.
Following ur instruction
Sewing now thank you
Super cool...never got this idea. Appreciate your time for us
Thanks , your idea is superb
can i do this on bootcut/ flare jeans .?
Your explanation is So Good😘
Very nice video
Very very nice work madam 👍
excellent video - best i've seen
Is it possible to do this by hand without the machine?
Wow fantastic idea
Nice. What is one wants to cut the excess n sew? How to keep original helm then?
Cut the excess up high, between the marks where you'll sew the hemming tuck, then sew the seam there. Then hem as the video shows. You'll end up with less excess fabric.
I wish you had mentioned what number needle to be used for such a heavy thick material. I would appreciate if you add that information. Thanks.
I use needle size 18 for jeans.
You'll also need heavy duty thread. Look for it specifically for jeans, canvas, or outdoor fabric.
What I do is if they are my jeans, I will double stitch the hem and then trim the excess and iron them. If they are children's pants, I will whip-stitch the excess up the seams. That secures the extra length, and it is easy to let it down.

Very good and easy to understand
Thanks for explaing in english .
Very smart idea, thank you so much
Inner folded part will come out while walking
If u dont want then cut that part..
Tack the top of the fold to each side seam.
I think you could secure it by hand stitching a small part of the folded part to the inside part of the jeans, the thread would be less visible if done near the stitching/ thicker part of the jeans.
No it's come because of stitching
It wont come out if d jeans is tight fitted wch evry1 uses des days
You're a genius! Thank you.
Superb awesome👍👍

You are absolutely correct.😊
I tried this but problem is the inner cloth got stuck in my feet whenever i wear it, also when i walk the lower part feels very bulky and uncomfertable its better when i cut the extra cloth instead of folding it inside
yes and thats dependent on the excess material you have. better to cut it off if you have too much fabric
Yes I also have this problem
Use an invisible baste stitch if your machine has it, or do it by hand (there's YT videos on how to do it). I learned how to when I was 7 and it's very easy.
Can I cut the extra inner fabric without sewing one more time?
Yes you can, but you'll need a bit of either cloth glue or a hem fusing cloth you can attach with an iron so your edges don't unravel.
thanks mam this professional cutting
Most welcome 😊
Will you please hem a bell bottom jeans? Thank you 😊
When you wear the jeans, wont you kick the folded part down with you foot?
That's I want,I should talk to my wife to do that.thanks so much...
owwwo
it's really easy and professional looking
But wouldn’t that bottom area become bit bulky?
you have to cut it off to make it look better, she doesn't explain that
Title: ..."without cutting."..In case of shrinking, will be able to rehem...impossible if cut off.
@@sufianadnan483 baste it down ward then it won't get caught or cut it
@@sawong8685 No, it is tutorial for keeping the original hem. You can cut that extra material

Katai mauj a gayi.
Would this be easy to undo, for example, children’s pants and let them out as they grow??
Tq so much
Its an old n discarded method
As folded part keep coming out of bottom n becomes messy sometimes
doctor sasha no hate, so what is the newest method? I have 4 pairs that I need to hem. Thank you
@@i.g.6733 you have to cut the inside part and do a zigzag stitch to avoid fraying
Sufian Adnan hey thanks for your response, do you have a video here in RUclips?
