- A Night out Fox Shooting with my mate Ian. Running the HikMicro Panther PQ50L thermal rifle scope on my CZ455 17hmr.
The Panther is a prototype unit I am testing at the moment and I'll go into more detail after I spend some more time behind it.
As a professional shooter, I strive for instant and efficient removal.
No animals suffered in this video. All were culled humanely and ethically as per VPAC guidelines.
Although we took 2 rifle setups, all the foxes were taken with the 17hmr due to shot location.
The majority seen were 3/4 grown pups. They were so focussed on what they were doing that it was near impossible to call them in. It was hard enough just trying to get their attention. 🤦♂️
The area we focussed on was about 50 acres. So getting 8 foxes in a couple of hours was a fantastic result.
Ian shot the first 6 and I got the final 2 down near my ute just as we were going to call it a night.
Shot placement is critical with the 17hmr especially when u are running 17gr projectiles.
My mate Ian did awesome and it was great to have some company. Thanks buddy. 👊 Развлечения
Well done Rodney. Some good footage there. Keep bagging those foxes!
Thanks mate. 👊
That's the plan.
Good equipment, Patients and fine shooting. Thanks for the time and effort you put in to share
My pleasure. Really appreciate the support 👌
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Seeing this vid 17hmr on fox being so efecktiv irritates me that it's ilegal too hunt fox in sweden with 17hmr you need atleast 22wmr, witch is lacking in accuresy
apoleges for horible speling
That's ok mate.
Generally 17hmr isn't the best fox round. Shot placement is very critical a nd still get more runners than I would like.
My preference is .204 or .223
Great shooting. Look forward to the next one.
Thank you mate. 👌
Nice shooting fellas. Always good to see foxes earn their angel wings. The 17 HMR is a great round in my experience.
Yeah. 17hmr is awesome. Instant death with good shot placement 👌
Nice shooting there mate all the best have a great weekend.
Cheers mate. Same to you 👊
Love your voodios, keep up the great work.
Thanks champion 👌
G'day guys great vid, sham U didn't knock those bloody cats over too! Bloody legends getting rid of Australia's ferals!
Thanks Wally. 👊
Nice work guys. 👍
Thanks buddy 👊
Great work guys
Cheers Graham 👊
Great shooting Rod, the bloopers were good too. 🤣
No doubt a happy farmer having them off the property. Pity about the feral cats. Always next time
Thanks mate. Thought the bloopers might show a bit of light hearted humour. Not always a walk in the park making videos. Lol
As for the cats 🐈 yep. Not on that property. 👌
Nice shooting boys, yr getting to play with all the toys now, well done Rod
Thanks Robin. 👊
It's great getting new gear to play with. What most people don't realise is just how much time and effort is required to thoroughly test and evaluate them.
Great shooting boys. Great video
Thanks buddy. 👌
Spot on 👍 I get a laugh when people say .17hmr isn’t suitable for foxes!
Works pretty good for me Dan. Shot placement is the most important thing no matter what calibre you're using yeah. Plenty of nufties out there mate 🤣
@@RJMHuntingAustralia absolutely! I shot 9 in as many weeks from my backyard last year with mine. A rural backyard obviously and with a light haha remember using those 😂
Lol. I sure do. I miss seeing their eye shine in the light. We've come a long way with technology in recent times.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia absolutely! Was a shame when you’d only see it once and it was gone after being shot at prior. Reckon we’ve got a few years before they work out the thermal 😂
I think we'll be just fine mate. 👌
Great video mate ! 👍🏻
Thanks champion 👌
Good work guys,
Thanks mate. 👊
Nice work, people underestimate the .17 but it's a great little round
They sure do. Pretty cheap to run and lot's of fun to shoot too. 👌
Great work
Thanks mate 👍
pups or not Rod they still cause damage, well done and I'm sure the farmer will be very pleased.👍👍😎
Very true Wayne. Young or old, they still get the same treatment. 👌
Yep think of all of those mice and rats that are safe now 😂
@@steve5825 that's right Steve, not to mention the lambs and native wildlife.
A fox is a fox, young or old, classified as a pest in Oz. I don't discriminate. 💥
@@RJMHuntingAustralia ignore the keyboard warriors Rod, keep up the good work mate.😎
Nice 👍 shooting mate I m big fan of you
Thankyou mate. 👌
Great video mate
Thanks champion 👊
Good stuff. Thanks.
My pleasure Terry. 👍
Nice haul lads.
Cheers.
Thanks Rob. Was a fun night out as always. 👌
Great video
Thanks
Just discovered your channel. Great videos!
Welcome aboard. Much appreciated 👊
Think the Moustache caused the bloopers lol...Good shooting yet again...The impact of the bullets must be awesome because they drop like a bag of shit instantly ...Stay Safe .....................
Thanks mate.
Don't knock the mo 😅
Nice shooting mate cheers
Thanks mate 👊
Nice work
Cheers Paul
Good 🏹ing 👍
Thanks mate 👍
Kool vid Big Unit! Tell lil'unit Howdy for me!
Will do. Haven't seen him for a while. Plan to get out hunting together soon. 👊
good work
Thanks mate 👊
Cool video. Looks like there are almost as many fox there as there are hogs here in Texas!
Yeah, probably.
I do love shooting hogs. Have to travel at least 6 hours from my place to find them here though. 😪
@@RJMHuntingAustralia that sucks. I have to drive all of 15 minutes from my house to find them……
Lucky man 👌
Fantastic bag and some great shooting, good work as usual. Good to see you keeping the misses in the footage too - authentic - happens to us all.
Got a HikMicro Gryphon yesterday and spotted a fox mingling with the sheep within 30 seconds of turning it on. I'm going to medicate it with a .17 Hornet pill tonight...farmer will be happy as he'll be lambing in a couple of months!
Was a great night. You'll love the thermal mate. 👌
Great work keep them ferals down 😊👍
Cheers mate. 👊
@3:49 we've all been there 😂
+@dansage yep 😉
Top video
Thanks mate
Excellent video .. l was hoping to see the 223 in action suppressed ... Never mind , great shooting & excellent footage 👍
There will be plenty more to come this year Shane. If you scroll through my videos. All the 223 footage and 308 footage is with a suppressor. 👊
Great work Rodney. Please pardon my ignorance, but is there anything that can be done with a dead fox except hanging it's tail on the antenna of the old FJ?
I did have one dog some 45+ years ago which loved to catch a fox and eat part of it. The others did not want to try it.
Absolutely nothing mate. The fur is worth bugger all. Some states pay a bounty and you have to scalp each one for proof.
No bounty in NSW
@@RJMHuntingAustralia Dammit, foxes and other ferals are a blight on Australian wildlife and domestic stock. There should be some sort of reward for people actively trying to reduce, and if possible eliminate these mongrels.
I unconditionally support the efforts of people like yourself and Nathan. Well done.
Thanks buddy 👊
Thanks for the video,
What do you recommend between the panther and the thunder
Early days atm.
I do prefer the 18650 battery setup of Panther
Hi guys! Thanks for the review..
Sorry if this question is a bit late to the party, but I can't find the answer to this pretty much anywhere; does the eye piece on the Panther unscrew like that of the Cheetah please? Are the two screw mounts interchangeable?
Thank you!
Never tried to unscrew it mate .
Might be worth asking that question on one of their Facebook pages
Hey mate good vid, with the suppressor is it legal for anyone to shoot your rifle if it’s attached?
Nah mate. They have to be a nominated shooter on the permit
Fox, when some one calls you, run
They're not very smart at that age. 🤦♂️
Great stuff, what range are you smacking them with the 17hmr? That thermal footage is awesome 👌
Try to nail em under 100m where possible. Have shot several between 140m and 170m though. I'm going to start running the 20gr ammo as soon as I can get some for the foxes. That extra 20% in weight should be very beneficial in dropping them.
Is there a brightness control for the crosshairs on the panther ????
No mate. Not at the moment.
I know theres loads of work skinning but you could make a killer fox long coat with matching cat skin hat 😂
Would be nice buy like you said Ian. Very time consuming skinning them especially when you're on the clock
Hi there RJM Hunting could you please tell me what is the max range you would take a shot with this scope with its optics
Depends which calibre it's on. Scope is capable out to 300+ metres.
Have shot foxes out to 330m with it on my 223.
I try and limit shots to sub 150m when it is on my 17hmr.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia thank you I'm Keen on a thermal scope just wanted to know there capabilities thank you
@@RJMHuntingAustralia I've got the same 17hmr and i love it
@@RJMHuntingAustralia thanks for the answer
No worries mate. 👍
Hey Mate,
Great video once again.
May I please ask if you have any suggestions for 17hmr or do you prefer the one in the video?
Cheers
As in which model rifle?
Most are pretty good these days.
Just a matter of finding one that suits your budget and fits you well when you shoulder it
Looking going Pro..many hoops to go thru to get a silencer..?
Yeah, it's pretty involved. Just need to be able to justify it's use and back it up with the relevant contracts and necessary requirements mate.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia ahh..too much mucking about..just keep a certain licence here then 4 farm..thnx
What’s going on pearcing fox’s ears..! Lol good shooting
Haha. All the rage now mate. 🤣
I didn’t get the memo..! Lol
Oops!
напиши пожалуйста у hikmicro pq50lrf есть баллестический калькулятор..?
No, not at the moment mate
Where do you go hunting at mate ?
NSW
How do you charge to make money as a professional shooter?
Depends on the job.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia can you give me an example? I am asking because I would like to offer same service for farmers in nz but don’t know how to price
I charge hourly rate. As a business you need to cover your costs and provide an effective and efficient control method for the client.
Hey mate just letting you know I've subscribed several times and keep getting unsubscribed, I see you announce a new vid on fb and go to RUclips and it's not on my list, I think RUclips might be messing with it.
I've heard of a few ppl having that issue Chris.
My most recent video is the Fox Shooting one with the HikMicro.
New pig hunting video is still in the editing process. Will be another few days at least. Try clicking the bell after subscribing and select notify all.
I will share the video link on Facebook when the new video goes up.
Thanks for the feedback buddy 👌
@@RJMHuntingAustralia yeah clicked the bell from the start and made no difference, all good mate I'll just keep at it.
Thanks champion. I appreciate the support 👊
Excellent shooting, only good fox is a dead fox 🦊😎
Thanks mate.
They definitely do more than their fair share of damage
are ups letting all those feral cats go? ?
Farmers hay shed cat's.
🤷♂️ Always got to respect the property owners wishes mate.
@@RJMHuntingAustralia ahh yeah I understand! Iwell you got a gift of a shot
Good work boys coupe of pests down are the cats the property owners or what? They need slugs to mongrel things they are
They have several hay shed cats 🐈
Not on the cull list 🤦♂️
Nice shooting fellas, why is it foxes have an in built piss you off alarm by hanging about near livestock and buildings.
Always the way mate. 🤦♂️
😆😆😆
Why kill these? Dont they eat rats/rodents? Or are they killing yalls chickens?
They're an introduced pest and prey on Australian native animals and livestock as well as spreading disease
Disgusting
Appreciate the love
Quite right. These introduced pests that kill native species are disgusting. All true lovers of Australian native fauna love to see them eliminated.
As a sheep farmer love seeing a dead fox
Great work and awesome equipment
Well done
Thanks Craig. Always great to thin the numbers out. 👌
