    Love this channel. No hyped up over enthusiastic excited salesman yelling at us here. He just talks to us as though we are right there with him without trying to impress himself with the trendy slogans and cliche's. Good sound level balance too between the cuts means we aren't straining to hear one second and having our ears blown out the next with some rubbish muzak I hear on other YT channels. What music we do get here is real and not over used. Great job.

    Love your videos. Also really appreciate the honesty about time management and family obligations, etc. I'm planning on building starting next year, and with 3 kids I know I wont be devoting all my spare time to this project. I'm planning on 2+ years for build, with all the quick build/pre-fab options. Family is the most important thing. Flying is awesome, but better when you have family to share it with. Keep the vids coming brother, we love following you in this journey. If you build again with Oratex, would love to see it. Not many great vids out there that show the process in detail. Cheers.

    I would put stops on either side of the auto pilot servo to prevent it going over center.

    Great build!! After watching Trent for the past few months I found your channel. I just watched every one of the build episodes back to back!! I very much look forward to seeing this complete and in the air. I am not a pilot but watching you STOL guys has peaked my interest. You should attach the time lap camera to the rotisserie for a better view. It's now 4 am, and time for bed!! Thanks for the great content!

    Would it make sense to add a bumper to keep from going over center on the pitch? Probably overkill... but having that pitch lockout would be a real bummer. Love the videos.

      I totally agree with Eric Mac and wayne P about servo stops. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about this. I have built a lot of things in my years, and I have seen things happen, that physically, should not have been able to, just like this. Please don't leave it without travel stops.

      Once again beat to the punch. Even with a longer rod I would add a bump stop. The cost of adding a periodically replacing a little rubber bump would seem cheaper than the cost of an over-center(certain death)

    Rather than do the screw thing for the arrow shaft, pull the baggage back out, make it velcro like the back, that way you can make the rod permanent and just undo the velcro to get the bag out or access the servo. Just a thought.

    What a great looking workbench/station at the front of, and between, your garage doors. Could you do a quick video about it?
    Awesome work as usual! So nice to see a kit plane making regular progress to completion.
    It's been nice to see the Apex engine solution on your plane, and the other fellow at the High Sierra Fly-In. I know for me, the power plant cost is the biggest hurdle to kit building.
    Great work and progress!

      I built that work bench years ago. It is made of 2x3’s that I glued and screwed together and then ran through a cabinet shop planner to get the finish on it. It has held up very well. Thanks for asking.

    Quick question. To prevent the servo from going over center could you have a rod protrude from the mounting plate to physically stop the servo arm from moving? That way not only do you have the length of the push pull tube stopping the arm but you have a secondary stop in the form of a physical stop.

    Does Red Bluff still serve that distinctly unhealthy but immensely satisfying breakfast? Sorry, off-topic. It was a stopover for many a fly-in trip from the Seattle area to Columbia....Calfornia, not the country a bit farther south 😉 Outstanding progress on the plane, sir!

  • @flyifri

    I would limiting stoppers on the push pull servo mount to the push rod.

  • @paul_gradenwitz
    @paul_gradenwitz 4 года назад

    With all that special in the bag a question. Why don't you make a zipper on the bag. You install the rods fixed and have a flap in the bag that wraps around the rods and you zip it together. That is easy to do and easy to undo. Use large zippers and maybe some little cord to initially tighten the flap around the rod so that joining the zipper can be done without tension. Good luck!

    • @BowenAero
      @BowenAero  4 года назад

      A good idea for sure. I just didn’t want to have to deal with too much of the fastening behind the opening to the baggage area. I know I have to get to the back for the Velcro, but I think the way I did it should work out pretty good.

    • @paul_gradenwitz
      @paul_gradenwitz 4 года назад

      @@BowenAero I expect you did think it through. Not everybody has a strong stitching machine at hand to have the zippers stitched in. You could have the top part permanently attached and zip the bag in from the two sides all around the corner of the bag to the rear end. Then you only need a large enough ring at the zipper so that you can reach it with a rod. Then you never need to crawl in that space. good luck.

    at 11:51 can you create a top bracket that has stops.. you can make it one piece with a some folding and welding of one on each end.. bolts right to the front of the bracket over the servo. i worry that you can flex that and get it to go over center at all.. at 12:27 that forward spacer needs to have the shape of a chess rook.. a nice fat bottom to a narrowed top attaching point.. guess what.. you can lighten the heck out of it by removing metal inside to make it like a bell that still has the center tube shape to prevent crushing. the bell shape wall does not have to be crazy thick.. that tubular shape is going to put the bolt in bending shear..

  • @flip66five
    @flip66five 4 года назад

    Subbed for the arrow repurpose... Why aluminum? Carbon resists bending and is lighter..

    • @BowenAero
      @BowenAero  4 года назад

      That’s what I had, and honestly the weight difference between aluminum and carbon on that part is insignificant.

    So, something I don't understand (because I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to fabric). So, are you putting a coat of thinned Poly-Tak before on the contact surfaces (it dries really fast) and then laying the fabric...then use another coat of Poly-Tak on top of the fabric at the seam to reactivate the glue?

    • @JPascal61
      @JPascal61 4 года назад

      He explains his process in the wing cover video. From what I recall, it is as you described.

    • @BowenAero
      @BowenAero  4 года назад +1

      You put down an unthinned coat of poly Tac let it dry and lay the fabric over it and use a thinned poly Tac solution over the top to reactivate the first coat.

    couldnt you just put a zipper in the floor of the cargo mat, then you can unzip and not have to worry about removing it. Just have flaps of fabric covering the zipper, to prevent chaffing
