My experience with vehicles with rear disc brakes is that they are prone to being stuck. Dirt, especially mud and sand accumulate on the rear tires more than the front tires. For heavy duty applications, rear drum brakes is still king. It's not cost cutting. Mitsubishi is just being practical. The brake system of the drum brake is protected by the drum itself from the elements. Personally experienced that on the Chevy and GMC trucks we drove as work vehicles in heavy duty/severe applications. The Mitsubishi Strada has a more superior braking system than the Hilux.

Drum Brake assembly is never an issue sa totoo lang. In terms of functionality, regardless if it is a drum or disc, it will serve its purpose and that is slowing the car. Lamang lang talaga sa heat dissipation ang disc brakes and its easier to maintain. Apart from that, wala naman issue with drum brakes. In fact, mas long lasting and mas reliable pa nga ang drum brake system. Since most of the braking happens in the front, 70-30 split, most likely you won't feel the difference.
Bro, it’s already year 2024 disc brakes should be mandatory already, his right it’s just cost cutting really, breaking performance of disc brakes is different especially in dissipating heat. Plus drum brakes tend to squeak if not properly maintained. That idea of “easier to maintain” is just an excuse to say that it’s fine to cost cut
@llyanjimenez4985 why should it be mandatory? Can you enlighten me further? My Montero has a disc brake on all 4 wheels and it is more costly to maintain as compared to my Sister's Innova na naka Drums ang rear. You may even need to change 3 sets of brake pads before you can even replace a set of brake shoes. I honestly don't mind hearing a squeaking sound coming from my brakes, it only tells me that my brakes are working fine. It is normal for 2 contacting materials that rub at each other to make a sound, aside from that, drum brake assemblies have multiple metal springs inside which may also create that squeaking sound, again, normal for its operation.
@@ajocorona you don’t get it if you’re paying for almost 2m peso for a car it should have already disc brakes. I already said it’s 2024 already we have to move on sa old technology. @llyanjimenez4985 there are plenty of other things to consider aside from not having disc brakes on the rear. Again, from my point of view, I don't see it as a deal breaker. You're paying for an All-New vehicle, it's even priced at almost a 100k difference from the outgoing model. Yet you're having an all-new design, body, frame, techs, engine, drivetrain etc., you'll even get a Lancer Evolution DNA on it with Mitsubishi's well-known AYC (Active Yaw Control) and their Super-Select 4WD system, which many offroad enthusiasts find very capable compared to other 4x4 system.

This really is a big bang for your buck! Although it seems to not be able to defeat the Ranger Raptor, I believe that the Triton Athlete doesn't reallt compete with the Raptor and is closer to the WildTrak instead. There is the possibility of Mitsubishi making something like a RalliArt edition of the Triton that could compete with the Raptor if that ever happens. Bang for your buck? LOOOL😂! For almost 2M, you get drum brake, no tailgate assist, no paddle shift, analog instrument cluster, very small infotainment system...
I like how the alternator on the Triton is positioned high up in the engine. However, there is another pulley on the alternator that drives something. That, I don't like. When your alternator clutch fails, the other part that the alternator pulley drives will most likely fail. You will have two systems that are bound to fail from a tandem pulley. That I experienced on farm tractors with tandem pumps compared to separate pumps (power steering and hydraulic pumps).
Also the Triton is the only one in its class that has a transmission cooler and it can drive 4WD on sealed surfaces which means it can be also 2WD (RWD), AWD, and 4WD with AYC.
The raptor has 4wd auto which can be used on dry pavement too. It’s not ON 100% of the time but basically the same thing. It’s the default mode. But I do agree that the triton has the more complicated transfer case.

Drum brakes actually do better for utilitarian purposes; better for hauling and heavy loads. Disc brakes are truly better, IF you take that vehicle on a race track and brake hard in every turn. Safe to say, I don't see any Triton owners taking this to a track. Let alone with any non-performance vehicle actually.

The hilux gr-s is a good and solid truck no doubt! But as of now i do think that the wildtrak is a better value for money because you get a lot more features for a lower price. Also if one of your considerations is comfort of the passengers the wildtrak will serve you better, nvh levels is superior. Mind you the gr-s ride and comfort improved a lot but the wildtrak is just a better package on that aspect because comfort in general is not just about the ride quality, it also considers small details such as light steering, noise suppression both outside noise and engine noise as well as how balanced the ride is and you can all feel that in the wildtrak. Also the platform of the hilux now has been out in the market for 8yrs already if not mistaken, so even if there were improvements with the tech/safety department it does still shows its age. If you really want a hilux tho you can wait for the next gen maybe coming out nxt yr or the nxt 2yrs, that for sure will be a big improvement

Sir planing to buy a pick up pinag iisipan ko po.kasi if ung Dmax or ito eh sa reliability po kasi ano po ba mas okay
Pareho lang po sila matibay
go for triton... pero testing mo muna sa dmax dahil balance lang tlga triton
Drum brake rear😒?
Yes sir
Sir ano po maganda trition athlete or bt50 please help me decide sir
Mag Triton Athlete ka na kasi its newer with a new engine
Good ol' Conquest is keeping up with the Joneses.
Question po. May AUX fan din po ba na nakainstall as stock ang ganyan unit to cool the ac condencer?
Please advise. Thank you
For 1.9m, I’d opt for the ranger wildtrak instead but the triton is great for mitsubishi fans👍🏼
finally!
stage 2 lang yan ,hindi biturbo
Interior wise, i'd choose the bt-50 pangolin's over this triton athlete. Just my opinion. Much More premium kasi
Btw, Nice review , sir !
Yes i do agree din, more elegant kasi ang loob ng bt-50, pero in terms of screen quality both sa HU and instrument cluster mas crisper and mas clearer ang displays sa triton
For peace of mind mag Triton Athlete ka
@@ridewithlevi6418 sir levy bkit triton po ang sinabi nyo pra po mag jaroon ako ng peace of mind hdi po b ok ung wildtrax n so it means po mas ok po kung bibilhin ko po ang triton po. God bless po sir.
@@ridewithlevi6418 god bless u po...
Bro, tunland naman. V7 and v9
Garrett ™ Turbo Athelete
Basta gawang japan quality talaga
I'm not sure about this one.
Present
For me ford ranger
goodluck going to repair shop frequently
@@DenSaniiiityyy lol coming from a non ford user, no experience with ford and always basing his opinion on the brand with what he is seeing in the internet without any experience with it 😂 one word idiot
4x4
👍👍👍
Toyota Tundra is the best of all.😂
Tundra doesnt compete with triton. I think you're lost.
for me yung mukha nya parang robocop
2nd Like
Mitsubishi should fire their designer/s.

Hira i describe pag sablay 😂
Terrible front design
panget ng grille design tbh
simple solution: bull bar
Hindi pogi!
Panget pati loob prang Xpander yung manibela. Walang wala sa Raptor 😊
That's because it doesn't compete with the Raptor, it competes with the Wildtrak, Conquest, and the Pro4x.
@@rapide12345 so in that case mahal sya
