Thanks simon for your swift reply, just done replacing timing belt... One tip; if youre not putting silicon oil to clutch fan, no need to remove the clutchnfan itself, just remove the fan blade mounted by 4 bolts, then you' ll have enough room to access 3 mounting bolts..

Hi Simon. Your videos are awesome and have helped me out very much. I actually did a Ford 1.0 ecoboost head gasket easily because of your video. Am doing the same vehicle as in the video, here in South Africa it is called Chevrolet Trailblazer. I am looking for torque specs for cyljnder head and pistons.

You adjusted the timing belt tensioner WRONG.
To tension, the arrow needs to be in line with the V on the other part of the tensioner.
Did you have any issues with the engine so far?

Thanks for your video. I have watched another where they remove the plastic cover on end of timing shaft and used a special tool to lock the timing shaft from turning. Is there any risk when not locking the timing shaft. Great video Simon.

I wonder if this is an interference engine. If the belt breaks would it got the valves? Just got myself a trailblazer with a duramax 2.8 and Iove it so far but it surprised me that has a belt

The way you have tensioned that timing belt is not correct. It has an arrow and index mark as to the load when the belt is new. A lot of miss information if a rookie is going to attempt this themselves it’ll likely cost them an engine.

    • @clifty86

Joshua Tabiles there is a dial indicator behind the pulley to set the initial load. It self tensions after that.

Hi all. Can anyone give any guidance on how to properly re-align all shafts prior to refitting the timing belt?
My 2013 Colorado RG’s timing belt broke at idle.
8 x rocker arms broken but I’m advised it’s likely the valves are likely to be ok so just want to try new rocker arms and see how it goes.
Problem is I’m not 100% sure how to re-align camshafts with crankshaft and injector pump.
Also, the camshaft timing belt pulley was removed without marking the pulley to inlet camshaft orientation.
I’m certain there must be a way by lining up TDC to camshaft position and injector position.
I have the Haynes manual, but so far everything points to changing a timing belt that isn’t broken.
Might’ve missed the section I need, but happy to be corrected or advised either way.
    Cheers in advance.

Don't tension belt like you did!!! You need a mirror to watch the arrow at the back to line up with the slot. 28:12. The hex has nothing to do with position. It's the pointer arrow that needs to be lined up with the slot/marker at 6 o'clock.

    • @MegaWetbrain
      @MegaWetbrain 6 месяцев назад

What's the result of not doing it right asking for a friend who just did and i think he has a problem now. Either he didn't keep timing by making marks accurately OR he didn't set belt tension properly. And a 'service soon' warnings come on
