I like this. Wrote an article for another site a few months ago that was a slightly condensed version of this video. Wouldn't mind hearing more if you want to make it a series, though some characters obviously have more story material than others.
You fleshed out the story a lot which I admire. The truth is that Street Fighter games have minimal story and it barely if ever advances the character arcs. Ryu is basically the same as he was 25 years ago. Compare this game to Tekken or Mortal Kombat and the characters can change drastically over the course of a few games.
Ryu has always been my number one Street fighter since SF2 first came out, with Ken in 2nd place. I miss the god ole days when me my brothers and cousin used to get together and hold a Street fighting tournament on the SNES to see who is the best.
Wow, I am glad to see Ryu and all the old characters I know in Street Fighter reached so far and they have gotten older. A lot of fighting games don't age their characters and I don't know why.
would say of ryu's story i love it the most in alpha(felt the most about him and like ken & sakura defending him from m. bison/sagat snapping him out of it enough to kill the shadaloo leader.) & the animated movie(love how almost samurai esque he felt and how it told us what he was in a nice visual way which influenced the alpha series especially with ken giving him his headband/their friendship along with the awesome final fight with m. bison i wish 5 did an equivalent to with chun li joining in.) as well as parts of 4 like his relationship with sakura/rose predicting him defeating m. bison though could've done more with seth's search for him with how much it takes from the movie. like 1's fight got changed to being the one time we canonically see evil ryu shoryukening sagat(does explain it being strong enough to nearly strike open his belly to torso.),2 is pretty weird in hindsight compared to the rest of the series(like to think ken beat him with his promise to eliza.) and like his moments in 5 interacting with rashid,laura matsuda(with how they're together in ae's intro would love to see ryu training with her along with sakura,sean & ken/their families.:3) & purging the satsui no hado with the mu no ken(do wish instead of kage ryu met with sakura or sagat having a fight to reflect his journey & gain clarity.) and having enough control to focus his hadouken's intent when he fires it through chun li/li fen to stop the explosion. also love in 3 him defeating hugo(especially poison having him join the h.w.a which i'd love to see in 6.:3) and oro secretly training him(also like how it was handled in the comics.) and for 6 would love to see him with sakura training her with his master look and interacting with the other characters (maybe starting something with chun li or meeting alex again with how ryu humbled him.)with how as he doesn't have to worry about the satsui no hado anymore as it's gone more so the lingering threat of akuma likely challenging him again(the cfn database implied at some point he may become enlightened along with rose winquote saying oni will appear and akuma in 3rd strike starting to show he's aging with a white hair streak.)/gill's ambitions are the last obstacle for him with how close he's mastering his style.
Interesting set of takes, though it can be very hard to determine what is actually canon given the way fighting game stories have historically been told. Mix in retcons (like Sagat's redemption arc in Alpha), non-canon endings (and the ambiguity over which ones are non-canon) and a long history of speculation and contradictory word of God from the devs and sorting this stuff out can be a nightmare. For instance, it's still not clear whether SFI was a tournament, or just a series of fights meant to draw the attention of notables like Sagat. Honestly I'd love a proper timeline of the series to sort this stuff out from Capcom, but then they'd have to admit that their timescales for the teenage characters don't make any damn sense. I do need to disagree with some of your final points: at the end of 3S, Oro is watching over Ryu's training, but Ryu himself is completely unaware of Oro's presence, and based on their win quotes against each other in V it's clear that Oro wants to train Ryu as his successor, but Ryu's just not interested, preferring to perfect and develop his own style. Ryu's kasaya also doesn't belong to Gouken, it's just meant to visually evoke him, but I think making it a Buddhist robe really fits Ryu as a character. So much of his development is about him gaining the Power of Nothingness and learning the Shinkuu (True Void) Hadoken, and the idea that nothingness or emptiness is a) powerful and b) welded by benevolent figures is a very Buddhist one. Incidentally, Mu no Hado (I don't know where you got Kiyosi no Hado, but that's both wrong and impossible in the Japanese syllabary) has consistently been translated as the Power of Nothingness, but the Hado is the same Hado in Hadoken and Satsui no Hado, so it's more like the surge of nothingness, or the Hado of emptiness if we treat Hado as a proper noun denoting the techniques Ansatsuken practitioners use to draw out their ki.
That's non canonical, but you're right, he turns into Evil Ryu and guy blocks/evades every single attack. I'm considering doing a video on how many times the Raging Demon didn't actually work, haha

Nice breakdown of my favorite character! Gotta say though that I'm still not a fan of them retconning his original SF1 victory over Sagat by saying that he tapped into Satsui No Hado.
I find it a shame they decided not to have Sakura be Ryu's disciple. I don't know why Capcom insists on trying to push brand new character like Alex back in the day, and Luke now, as the main character. As we've seen, it never really turns out well. Sakura is probably the only character people like enough to take over for him, if ever. And a disciple is a good way for Ryu to keep growing as well.
Sakura is growing up and is seriously thinking if it's still worth spending her life fighting, she isn't really as dedicated as Ryu is and would only hold him back as a student

Akuma is more Ryu's opposite than anything and their battle should be the focal point instead of some loser-ass demon with pointy teeth.
But what about what he represents? I think he's cool when you think about that part of it... it's the part of Ryu that Akuma actually wants to fight, but he made a promise to Ryu to kill him if he didn't embrace it. Now he can do both.

I really hope cacpcom is able to come up with s decent story for sf6 because everything you heard in this clip and not just be picked up from playing these games. The story telling has been poor to say the least and you have to put everything together based off capcoms blogs and info not the games.

A "master of Nothingness" Ryu versus "consumed by Murderous Intent" Akuma battle sounds like it would be pretty damn epic, to be honest.

What about during Alpha when Ryu briefly gets taken by the Satsui No Hadou and gets knocked out of it after Guy parries his Raging Demon?
