Still, they are basically the same person, and seeing how he handles Homelanders powers is gonna be quite interesting
@@antonioskontonasakis Hmmm, I think you are missing the point. Sure, the Compound V grants everyone random sets of abilities but that randomness is based on their inner nature. Come on people, it's not a hallucination, 1-he asks about his son 2-calls him by name 3- tells him how he feels 4- challenges him that in the end it's just the 2 of them standing up to have their final battle. Also the whole conversation is epic because he is there.
@@Iagoingsoc I never thought about it until I saw this comment section but yeah it's very clearly a hallucination. The batman vanish makes more sense and the specifics in HL dialogue as well.
It's actually better than the comics. The TV series takes the best parts of the comic and dials down the try-hard edgy parts of it and turns it into something far more interesting.
Homelander with his menacing stance outside someone's window, while Butcher responding with one of the best jokes in the show is why I love these two characters
1:43 “where’s the sport in that?” Homelander just lowkey admitted he respects Butcher. Either that or he’s enjoying the game. Either way, this may very well be the explanation as to why Homelander hasn’t just annihilated Butcher and The Boys. He likes the thrill
I think Homelander actually respects Butcher to an extent. Most supes are terrified of Homelander, so to have a mud person so brazenly stand up to him must be relieving.
I think the scene was real. Homelander is shown to have superspeed in the boys: diabolical, which shares the same universe as the show. So he could've easily left without Butcher noticing.
@@sachemofboston3649 Nah, he is really confident in his powers. We have seen multiple times that he simply doesn't care about that sort of thing, since he knows nothing can harm him.
Homelander just wanted a freind to chat with, of whom he could be honest and its not afraid of him. Billy Butcher might the closest thing to a buddy that Homelander has.
Butcher truly is Homelander’s Batman. He loves him. I think the reason he puts up with Sage is bc of how much she reminds him of Billy telling him how he really feels
Was it just 24 hours? I thought butcher was having side effects longer than 24 hours. Edgar said he was still “working out the kinks and side effects of temp V” so I would assume that the first trial messed up
For some reason I'd assumed this scene was just Butcher's hallucination, since Homelander disappears so abruptly Herogasm made me come here and rewatch it
Fun Fact: The director of this episode referenced the scene from The movie “Heat” with De Niro and Pacino sitting across from on another at the coffee shop.
So far, Homelander is stealing the show for me. Everytime he's on screen, I'm on the edge of my seat; specifically, the scene with A-Train. That, and seeing more of Soldier Boy.
I was reading that this scene was inspired by the restaurant scene between De Niro and Pacino from Heat with Butcher and Homelander. The whole verbal warfare between these 2 cats are so great and it's never disappointing to watch. The face/off that is going to happen for sure.
Homelander was so sick of everything in this scene that he genuinely wanted the two of them to cause so much chaos in their attempts to take each other down, just for the entertainment factor.
I like how this scene lowkey resembles the interrogation scene from The Dark Knight movie, when Joker tells Batman that he completes him, and he's just a freak like him
I really like how from the beginning, Homelander realized that Butcher wasn't afraid of him, and in fact, shared a lot of similarities with him, just on different sides of the spectrum. Such a well written relationship between two parallels
2:53 Homelander is baiting Butcher on a final battle, because Homelander sees that Butcher is his greatest adversary. The problem is that when he goes "a little more Scorched Earth" he doesn't realize whom he's truly asking. Butcher is not an adversary, Butcher *HATES* Homelander with a passion. Butcher didnt see that as a challenge, he saw it as a doomsday clock. So he went by any means to take down Homelander. The fact that he backed out on the deal with Soldier Boy was nothing short of bad writing.
Marvel needs to learn from the boys, that how to make an intense conversation between two important characters without any cringe dialogue and lame jokes.
Homelander is invulverable, which makes his dominance all the scarier. Yet the fact that Butcher is just as dominant WITHOUT powers makes you realize who we should all be truly scared of.
Homelander is one of the greatest villains. Sociopathic monster that prances around like he’s such a great hero. Can’t wait for the dayButcher dispatches him.
Butcher is the one thing that Homelander has that gives him purpose. The one thing that makes him feel like a superhero. A bond with an actual nemesis. A connection that for all of its hatred is sincere. Someone that treats him like he would everybody else
The connection and character build up between these two is amazing honestly Karl and Anthony are amazing in this I love this show so much honestly brilliant
I think if this scene was a hallucination, Homelander would call him Butcher. The fact he calls him William tells me it is the real Homelander. Been wrong before though...
the main giveaway that this scene is a hallucination is butcher very blatantly looks over at the jar. Homelander has X-ray vision, if he was really there he’d look at the jar too and tell there’s compound v in there
Is it just me or is the energy is this conversation remind anyone of Batman and The Joker, mortal enemies yet they’re the only two people who understand each other
It is VERY disturbing. Like Homelander pretended (Or not) to go there to get Ryan (Something he actually cares about doing) but what he really went to do was talk to Butcher cause how lonely he feels. Those two hate one another, but are the only thing that keep them functioning, sane is an...exageration.
Ironically despite their immense hatred for one another it's their hatred that makes them genuinely understand each other. Both of their worlds have practically intertwined due to cruelty that was inflicted on them by the world that made them.
Someone who lives in the light, and has a dark side. Someone who lives in the dark, and has a light side. Homelander and Butcher are actually quite similar. This scene paints that picture.

Yea once he controls it properly
Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about Butcher seemingly having the same powerset as Homelander, and it really comes down to the fact that it's so statistically improbable for that to happen, it's hard to suspend disbelief watching it.
Still, they are basically the same person, and seeing how he handles Homelanders powers is gonna be quite interesting
His powers will probably be limited
@@antonioskontonasakis Hmmm, I think you are missing the point. Sure, the Compound V grants everyone random sets of abilities but that randomness is based on their inner nature. Both Homelander and BB are hot headed , narcissistic , short tempered individuals. The Heat Vision and Super strength manifests that nature as their abilities granted by Compound V.
@@Zeegoku1007 well said
Love how Butcher only made himself a cup of tea and not Homelander.
Come on people, it's not a hallucination, 1-he asks about his son 2-calls him by name 3- tells him how he feels 4- challenges him that in the end it's just the 2 of them standing up to have their final battle. Also the whole conversation is epic because he is there.
Nah it’s definitely a hallucination and I reckon we will see a future conversation between the pair that is similar
@@jacksonboyd homelander never opened up to butcher about how he feels before. The dialogue is too specific.
it's very obviously an externalisation of Butcher's own thinking, i.e. Homelander isn't really there
@@Iagoingsoc I never thought about it until I saw this comment section but yeah it's very clearly a hallucination. The batman vanish makes more sense and the specifics in HL dialogue as well.
Wth guys it's clearly real you can just tell from the way he acts
1:02 my favorite quote from billy. Love his sass.
“This world ain’t big enough for the two of us” ah moment
Probably my favorite scene so far this season. Karl & Antony are incredible actors. 👏👏
He's like the psycho brother Homelander never had.
Homelander and Butcher are both psychos
Just a reminder that Antony Starr has a New Zealand accent but it’s impossible to tell by how well he plays Homelander
The boys is a great adaptation. Keeps the essence of the source whilst being fresh to keep it surprising
It's actually better than the comics. The TV series takes the best parts of the comic and dials down the try-hard edgy parts of it and turns it into something far more interesting.
That “I look forward to it” was probably the most genuine thing Homelander has ever said on this show.
Homelander with his menacing stance outside someone's window, while Butcher responding with one of the best jokes in the show is why I love these two characters
Wow Homelander just came to complain to Butcher about Vought.
Butcher is pretty much the only "friend" Hommelander has.
Or it’s a hallucination
@@kenthefele113 its not.
@@kenthefele113 nope, in a later episode they bring up the scorched earth line again
What if....you take out Vought....
1:43 “where’s the sport in that?” Homelander just lowkey admitted he respects Butcher. Either that or he’s enjoying the game. Either way, this may very well be the explanation as to why Homelander hasn’t just annihilated Butcher and The Boys. He likes the thrill
To whom to believe his "heroics" he needs his perfect nemesis..butcher is that
I think Homelander actually respects Butcher to an extent. Most supes are terrified of Homelander, so to have a mud person so brazenly stand up to him must be relieving.
I think the scene was real. Homelander is shown to have superspeed in the boys: diabolical, which shares the same universe as the show. So he could've easily left without Butcher noticing.
People forgetting homelander is super lazy with his powers in most cases, treats everything like a chore unless driven
I think it’s just a hallucination because Homelander also has X-ray vision so he’d be able to see the compound v in the jar
@@sachemofboston3649 Nah, he is really confident in his powers. We have seen multiple times that he simply doesn't care about that sort of thing, since he knows nothing can harm him.
Diabolical is a different universe as you can tell from the different Maeve etc.
@@mitchjames9350 the show runner confirmed some episodes were cannon and some were not
Homelander just wanted a freind to chat with, of whom he could be honest and its not afraid of him. Billy Butcher might the closest thing to a buddy that Homelander has.
Butcher truly is Homelander’s Batman. He loves him. I think the reason he puts up with Sage is bc of how much she reminds him of Billy telling him how he really feels
Butcher proved that anyone who took temp V can turn into deadly. Kudos to starlight though.
Was it just 24 hours? I thought butcher was having side effects longer than 24 hours. Edgar said he was still “working out the kinks and side effects of temp V” so I would assume that the first trial messed up
@@kyleraiff8637 It was 24 hours.
@@kyleraiff8637 yeah it's called 24hr V
Especially someone with government and military training like him, combined with his signature brand of savagery.

This show is a breath of fresh air compared to the mediocre stuff that's been coming recently

The fact that homelander asked butcher to come in instead of just barging in like always show how much respect he has for him
For some reason I'd assumed this scene was just Butcher's hallucination, since Homelander disappears so abruptly
Herogasm made me come here and rewatch it
Butcher can hide the temp v, but Homelander wants that equal match. He’s too used to ripping normal humans to shreds.
1:01 "do you want a pen and paper?" No one's talking enough about how funny that is.
Fun Fact: The director of this episode referenced the scene from The movie “Heat” with De Niro and Pacino sitting across from on another at the coffee shop.
Thought about that scene too while watching. McCauley (De Niro) and Hanna (Pacino) don't hate each other like Butcher and Homelander though.
I don't know why but I like the fact that Homelander calls Butcher William.
Yeah I noticed that.
Love how civilized they're being.
"May I come in?"
"I don't mean to be rude..."
😂 I love this show
Two people who can be fully truthful with each other without judgement
This season is looking to be the best so far. Can't wait for the fridays to come!
Oh my some Amazon scrub found this comment interesting gg’s bruv
What are you loving so far about Season 3?
So far, Homelander is stealing the show for me. Everytime he's on screen, I'm on the edge of my seat; specifically, the scene with A-Train. That, and seeing more of Soldier Boy.
@@PrimeVideoUKyour mum
I was reading that this scene was inspired by the restaurant scene between De Niro and Pacino from Heat with Butcher and Homelander. The whole verbal warfare between these 2 cats are so great and it's never disappointing to watch. The face/off that is going to happen for sure.
I love how Homelanders a complete psychopath but polite at the same time Haha great character
I love everytime Homelander and Butcher speak to each other. They are personal with each other. I love it. You can feel the tension.
Butcher is the closest thing Homelander has for a friend, because he's not afraid of him and is always honest with him.
Homelander was so sick of everything in this scene that he genuinely wanted the two of them to cause so much chaos in their attempts to take each other down, just for the entertainment factor.
At first I though he was making tea for his arch nemesis.
What a scene.
Would you serve Homelander a cup of tea? 😅
The most powerful man in history and he can't even get the information out of a regular Joe lol.
To be fair Butcher isn't a normal guy
Regular Joe? Butcher is equally if not more intimidating than homelander.
Did you just call Butcher a "regular Joe"?
@@neil351 I think he means as in regular human , we all know homelander would rip butcher to pieces if butcher had no V
@@GrifterTheBoyIdiot he isn't a regular human.
I like how this scene lowkey resembles the interrogation scene from The Dark Knight movie, when Joker tells Batman that he completes him, and he's just a freak like him
2:18 I love the demonic way homelander says “vaught” lol
Same, that and "touche william"
They're really getting to be closer to the comic book versions of themselves. I like it.
They are enemies and best friends at the same time
Which episode is this ?
Marvel needs to learn from the boys, that how to make an intense conversation between two important characters without any cringe dialogue and lame jokes.
Or wokeness.
It's too late for that already, if the mcu ever decides to go serious it should be after a spiderman movie or daredevil
Too late for that. Marvel will never learn.
they have the golden duck, they dont need writers
more than anything! As you can appreciate, he´s not only talking to butcher but also the public.
Homelander is invulverable, which makes his dominance all the scarier.
Yet the fact that Butcher is just as dominant WITHOUT powers makes you realize who we should all be truly scared of.
Part of me thinks homelander wanted to talk to someone who knew him, truly knew him. Someone he didn't have to wear his mask around.
Homelander is one of the greatest villains. Sociopathic monster that prances around like he’s such a great hero. Can’t wait for the dayButcher dispatches him.
He’s the world’s greatest hero
This scene makes me feel like Im really watching a comix. I dont know but this scene has a special feel, it hits differently. Top acting.
1:16 - Hello Joker of the "Dark Knight" (interrogation scene) . R. I. P. Heath Ledger
Homelander has X-ray vision, if he was really there he’d look at the jar too and tell there’s compound v in there
@@sachemofboston3649 Plus the incident with the TV the next episode as well. I had not seen that yet when I wrote this comment.
Well you are right. After episode 6 it's confirmed that homelander was real in this scene
Goes to Butcher to talk about his work problems. Calls him William too. 🤣🤣
Is it just me or is the energy is this conversation remind anyone of Batman and The Joker, mortal enemies yet they’re the only two people who understand each other
I was surprised that Anthony didn't get anything for Banshee but now he better get something for Homelander.
2 humans homelander respects. Stan edger and butcher.
Well now it’s confirmed that this conversation is not a hallucination of Butcher’s, for the people who were believing that
It is VERY disturbing.
Like Homelander pretended (Or not) to go there to get Ryan (Something he actually cares about doing) but what he really went to do was talk to Butcher cause how lonely he feels. Those two hate one another, but are the only thing that keep them functioning, sane is an...exageration.
Man, the writing and the acting in this scene is top shelf. Gave me chills. This is great stuff right here.
So Homelander wants a super dramatic show down with Billy
Funny that Butcher is the only one who Homelander can really talking to 😮
Underrated
Ironically despite their immense hatred for one another it's their hatred that makes them genuinely understand each other. Both of their worlds have practically intertwined due to cruelty that was inflicted on them by the world that made them.
Homelander had something om his chest and needed a friend to talk to😂
Exactly 💯
In their own way they’re both invincible to each other.
*invincible title card*
0:47, can't tell if it was sarcastic or not
Someone who lives in the light, and has a dark side. Someone who lives in the dark, and has a light side. Homelander and Butcher are actually quite similar. This scene paints that picture.
