    Chances are you've seen a lifted Crown Victoria before, but maybe you just didn't realize it because it was a "donk" car! You know, the crazy looking car with the HUGE wheels and super thin tires? Well that's one way to build it, but what about lifting, re-gearing, and adding a traction aide, and running some 31" A/T tires? Follow along as our tech David builds our first ever lifted Crown Vic!

    i lifted my 2010 crown vic police interceptor K9 unit. i did the 3" and put 30" BF Goodrich All Terrains on it. Already had a 3.55 posi. Also have a ProCharger from a 4.6L mustang my machine shop pal adapted for me. Its a hell of a lot of fun off road, does surprisingly well in the mud but wasnt bad before the lift really. Most fun though is running up at the party store at 1am tuff and watching everyone scatter lol.

    19:50, the 1989 Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar had that problem. At full lock, it compressed the caliper, and after sitting you had no brake pedal. It was a recall or campaign, I remember putting an acorn nut on the radius arm.

    Okay, I have an idea. I really like this but we do need to find the proper length control arm and I found steel braided hoses for the brakes which likely could be ordered to length.
    I would love to see bigger brakes with the bigger wheels and I also found those.
    I would be interested in putting an international harvester or f100 body on that setup!

    How much is it for you guys to do the same lift on a 1999 lx silver crown vic. Im from Greenville Mississippi and I've been looking forward to getting something done to mine but there aren't a lot of body shop options down here or that do good work for a decent price. Body shops here do half the work for all the money and I would rather wait for a good shop to be apart of my journey giving my crown vic a new look. I have other vehicles that might need some attention too and be apart of the Mount Zion experience for more content.

    • @MountZionOffroad
      @MountZionOffroad  Год назад

      Not trying to toot our own horn here, but our ability to find parts like we did in this instance comes from decades of combined experience across the dozen or more people we have on staff. You can witness exactly how that process goes when several people are standing around conversing about the rear brake like relocation. The only real advice I can give is to take it to a shop that has been doing custom work for 10+ years, or possibly take the specific part you're looking to replace to a NAPA. Many NAPA stores still employ a few parts guys with 20+ years experience who are able to cross reference parts from one application to another just by looking at them.

  • @skeetermcswagger0U812

    The lower control arms in the rear don't have a jam nut on both sides for a reason.
    These parts need to flex and rotate a little bit and you puting a jam nut on both ends is actually counter productive as the fine threaded side will hold its threads tighter than the course for at its side which is why the course threaded side has a Jam nut.
    Now the bushings that are in the ends are going to wear out prematurely cause they're gonna be twisting against each other.🤷‍♂️

    I’m currently working on my own design lift blocks for the front of the 03 to 11 Crown Vic I’ll have them done on Monday and ready to install. I wasn’t happy with the quality of lift plates for the front. I don’t feel confident in there ability to hold up to real abuse. So mine are 6061 And on the rear I’m using expedition springs. About 3 inches of lift. Thoughts?!? This is what ide like to do for living. Design rad parts.

    • @MountZionOffroad
      @MountZionOffroad  Год назад +1

      We had to do some trimming on the front for these to work, so 31's is the most we'd recommend. Many have fit a 32-33" tall tire with major trimming and it can look really cool, but is obviously a lot of body work to do it right!

    I have ordered a 3 inch kit and the front shocks, while new, were extended with long union nuts. This cant possibly last with hundreds of shock compression cycles. How did you align with those elongated top ball joint brackets.

    Wondering when someone will stumble on a affordable 4x4 solution for crown vics. Seeing all lift CV but only a handful of trail videos is disappointing. Has to be something done about it.

      It looks like it really wouldn’t be that complicated to do a solid axle swap! But would require a lot of fabrication for sure

      Be cool to see a full kit offered. T case cross member, front and rear spring kit. Be cool to see 4-6 inches of lift just off of a new kit alone. No pucks. Like a Raptor Kit solely for the panther platform.

    lol I will never understand why people want to lift Crown Vics or other cars for that matter. Jeeps, Trucks, SUV's sure I get that but this is just goofy looking to me. All that work for a tire that almost fits on a Crown Vic with no lift. I have a Crown Vic with 255/70/R16's on the rear and stock on the front since I like staggered stances and rake, no problems with fitment. But yeah front probably wouldn't work with that size. Fun to watch the process though!

      To go more places than you can in a stock car. As for a Vic, there's not much different than an F-150. Same engine, trans, and rear axle. Lots of 2wd F150 builds.

      @@kylesonsalla7620 I agree, being able to go off-roading and more adventurous places would be cool, but it still looks off-putting in a Crown Vic lol, that is just my opinion though. Also pretty cool that they did in fact did share a lot of the same components at one time. I believe it was around 2011 Ford stopped using 4.6L's and 5.4L's in the F150's, just like it was the last year for the Panther Platform.
