It’s like having 2 windows instead of one and giving us a broader view , more options. Life was never dull , we always had much to discuss and fight about! lol We learned from each other and grew together. However, I do agree that looking in the same direction brings more peace within a relationship.

Germans use "dolce vita" as a way to insult italian people basically, telling them they are lazy and take things slowly ("instead of working, you shut off worrying and live the dolce vita"). Maybe also by criticizing their way of enjoying life.
Maybe you interpret dolce vita as an elegant and relaxed way of living like having an aperitivo on the coast in Cilento or something and dressing elegant with the sun setting etc. Ok super. I like that aswell.
But this attitude towards life includes stuff like the 12.30-15.30 damn working pause (i dont know what they do in that time span) the coffee before going to work at the bar (because italians are useless lazy bags of ... that need at all costs the coffee chemical to wake up, and their zombie slave routine) , and useless routinary lazy habits that are typical to an inert race such as italians.
Im just a foreigner to how italians conduct their life because I deeply dislike their habits and routines. I hate the thought of sitting down and "enjoying" a coffee or cappuccino, like a inert zombie. And all their accessory useless lazy amoeba routines ...

Ive had a great marriage for 45 years and it's never enough time together. I found him at church and weve put God first in our marriage and family. He provides the wisdom we dont always posess. We all need guidance, forgiveness and comfort. Im not sure how to keep life together without the right ingredients. At our advanced age we can say that health, faith , financial security and peace is the wealth in old age.

Two things are very true.First of all RESPECT.Even if the relationship goes badly if there's respect you don't have to suffer as much.
Secondly I also think you can receive advice from people you admire. That doesn't mean your own family ,it may be other people s parents or old friends from your mum and dad. That s was very true at least in my case.

English is not for educated and rich people in Italy, let alone for old people . English was not considered chic and worthy enough to be learnt back in the past . French at most was, togheter with Latin and ancient Greek of course.

As an Italian, I'm impressed by their English. I guess they may have lived and worked where English is necessary. Maybe they used to work as language teachers, translators, International reasearchers etc....
When they were young, only rich families could afford high school and university education for their kids and English was a rare skill. Probably they studied and practiced other foreign languages as well and in those days it wasn't that common.

Interviewer shouldn’t have said “you’re always right” to the wife at around 3:45. Sounded a bit insulting. The husband said it but he’s her husband and meant it as a compliment.
    Also, don’t generalize ! She’s saying Americans don’t understand. 🙄. There’s a great many who do.

I think there was a slight misunderstanding when the wife said that she tends to be “correct,” which is why she went on to elaborate that she can be a bit of a nun. She doesn’t seem like the type of person who thinks she’s always right; she just values propriety.
