I can’t lie this is the first time I ever seen Nene smile since I’ve started watching the Shabani troop . I’m many videos and and so invested and I’m so glad you captured this moment ♥️🦍 I hold resentment on how she treated Annie as a baby but love her for who she is as a mother even though it’s not really her fault for not understanding Annie being AI daughter but yeah . God bless her with many years to go 🙏🏼🤞🏼 It’s gonna be a tremendous loss to us and especially them when she’s gone 😢
I never tire of watching these wonderful animals interact with each other. It's so interesting to watch how they signal and how they use their eyes and facial expressions. A brief look can convey so much meaning in their world, unlike we humans.

In human years she in her 50’s and in gorilla year’s she’s somewhere in her 80’s.
She’s already past the average lifespan for a Gorilla.

Just adore Lady Nene she has my heart. I see age in her walk and using ropes to aid her I'm older too I can identify with old age. Keep on going Nene you are QUEEN never forget that...❤❤😊

Have any studies been done on elderly gorillas? I would be vert interested in this. Dementia? Arthritis? TIA think of mini stroke... Nene probably has aches and pains related to age. She doesn't have teeth i believed she has a right to be grumpy etc i just adore her i worry about her. 😊❤❤❤❤

I think Nene and Annie have a "mild" mutual relationship....there's still friction..but livable. She seems to be losing a little weight.

Can someone help me with the family tree? Ai and Kiyomasa are Nene's children? (Who's Ai's father?) Annie is Ai and Shabani's daughter? I'll do some research but, if anyone has any insight to share I would greatly appreciate it.
Yes AI and Kiyo are Nene children, AI father Rikki died before Nene gave birth to her and Annie is AI and Shabani daughter.
There’s an online research tool called the gorilla studbook which is maintained by the Dewar Wildlife Organization. Everything you would want to know about a particular gorilla is in it (such as where they were born, date of birth, parents etc.).
