    6:49 The deflected rudder clearly indicates the wind is blowing from the left to right which is from the east which will give a departure of runway 12R

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад +1

      Exactly. Which is quite a rare configuration on Dubai.
      The fact that there’s strong enough wind to deflect the rudder surprises me already! The wind rarely blows strong in Dubai.

    Wow alex again i love your intro. I am still in the process od watching the video so far so good. I am pretty confident the rest will be as good as always. Gulf air is a pretty old airline. You should see the Mahatta Airport museum in Sharjah where they have many old gulf air planes from the 60s. And the entry ticket for the whole museum is only AED 10

      I always have a great time on Gulf Air. Crew are amongst the nicest in all my travels, specially the experienced Bahraini Pursers, like Mahmood😄.
      pd. an anecdote as you’re a Gulf Air employee:
      You know how Falcon Gold crew are called FG’s, right?
      In Emirates the First Class crew are called FG1. And not a single Emirates employee I know or met knows what it means or stands for. Until a Bahraini told me that it actually comes back from the 1980’s when many Gulf Air staff started Emirates and took some details/abbreviations with them.
      A curious data😁

They got rid of the purple line from their livery is because an airline from Paraguay copied their design and GF filed a law suit against them. Following all the drama the airline decided to change the livery and replaced purple with golden.

    The pilots call that take off turn and burn. Gulf Air was putting me in a Business seat in 1997 on their 767-300 ER ' Al Rastaq ' on our flight from Bangkok to Bahrain. For free. Nice touch. I like the A 321's. Often seen in Frankfurt.

      I remember that livery, was it the one with all the Arabic calligraphy? That was the best livery I’ve ever seen.
      Yes, lots of A321’s in Frankfurt. I specially found it foot times when the connected the jetway to doors 2 there. Never seen it anywhere else!

  • @foregnoy6495
    @foregnoy6495 2 года назад +1

    Considering that this is a narrow body aircraft, the BC cabin is amazing. We are using Gulf Air on the route from Frankfurt to Manila in BC and I would pick Gulf Airs A321 Neo over the Emirates 777 every time.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад +1

      The Business Class is spectacular. I wouldn’t mind spending 7 hours there at all. I’ll actually try it sometime.
      The Emirates flight takes me directly home, so that’s still my preference😁
      They also tend to send the newer B777’s to Frankfurt so I don’t mind that Business Class.
      Gulf Air is great, but soft product quality and variety is still better at EK.

    • @foregnoy6495
      @foregnoy6495 2 года назад

      @@TheLayoverAviation I agree that the movie selection and also the drinks selection on Emirates by far outshines Gulf Air. The food was a bit hit and miss for me on both carriers. Since Emirates mostly sends 777s to Manila or Clark that still have the old Business Class cabin where many seats don't have direct aisle access and are also not fully flat, I still prefer Gulf Air over Emirates on their 777 routes. This is different on routes where Emirates utilizes the A380.

    Fantastic plane and Gulf Air is definitely up there with the best in regards to quality of service. Flew to Abu Dhabi from Bahrain on this plane last Friday and flew back with Etihad with their brand new seats. Etihad really messed up there and I would always choose Gulf Air over Etihad or Emirates when flying in the GCC. Going to Europe though, price wise I can't see past KLM or Lufthansa but will definitely keep Gulf Air in mind.

      Gulf Air to Europe is incredibly good. I love their B787-9’s. But even the smaller Airbuses are great on those flights.

    I’m a little bit confused as sometime there are additional exits which full size door for the A321 but sometimes for other carrier it only equipped with overwing exits.

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад

      It all depends on the number of seats that are inside.
      As Gulf Air has very few, 166, the extra large exit is not required. That is for aircraft with higher seat density.
      And if you fit the maximum 240 passengers you’ll need both the overwind exits and the larger door.

    yo, Alex! I really enjoy it and look forward to your trip reports! can I ask one question please! as a 17-year-old aviation enthusiast I really want to know how you manage to fly so frequently and in luxury?!

    • @TheLayoverAviation
      @TheLayoverAviation  2 года назад

      Thanks Jonathan!
      So I’m happy to answer that question for you😃
      When I was 17 and had the choice to choose my career path I ensured that absolutely everything I did was aviation/travel related in some way. You can find a job at an airline, tourism industry, hotel management, etc etc. Tons of jobs that require travel.
      I’ll hopefully explain it all in detail some day.
      And the more you fly and collect miles, the more you get to fly. Let me explain: When I fly Qatar Airways Business Class to the USA I get around 26,000 miles as a bonus, one way. With One World avíos I need 11,000 for a one way ticket with British Airways to London from Dubai, or 21,000 with Qatar Airways to go anywhere in Europe.
      So that’s a free flight! And like this it’s everywhere. That’s why many people collect miles. The more time passes by the more it starts piling up and the higher status and benefits you get.
      I’m Platinum at a couple of places, Gold at another and Silver at another 😄
      Always follow your dreams and never give up!
      All I wanted was to fly and I keep working each day hard to continue living the dream and hopefully more in the future!
