@@David-tg8vc For five months, up to and including his 30 September court appearance Bryant said he was not guilty. It was only after David Gunson his then lawyer “stepped aside” and John Avery was appointed that Bryant changed his plea to guilty. Avery admitted that he did not want Bryant to go to trial and he admitted to getting Paul Mullens the psychiatrist to assist him to get inside Bryant’s head. Despite Bryant changing his plea we know from the police and court transcripts that Bryant was interviewed without legal of guardian representation, despite his low IQ of 66 and mental impairment. We know from those records that Bryant mentioned his lawyer numerous times during the 4 July interrogation but again, despite his mental capacity of an 11 y.o. his requests were ignored. We also know from those records that it was the police who informed Bryant that he would not be represented. We know from the 4 July interrogation video that Bryant was questioned by a women who has not been identified in the transcript. We know from the Court transcript that Mullens ‘interviewed’ Bryant for 3.5 hours on 4 or 6 May 1996, some days after the shooting and while Bryant was still in hospital suffering from his burns and just days after Bryant had been charged with the murder of Kate Scott. Who authorised or requested Mullens’ early intervention, or why, has never been disclosed. Despite Bryant changing his plea to guilty there is NO FORENSIC EVIDENCE in the public domain or in the court records that identify Bryant as the shooter despite all the items left in the cafe by the gunman. The meal tray and contents, drink cup and can, the sports bag and contents, the video camera and camera bag and the discarded AR15 magazine were all perfect sources of forensic evidence but nothing was ever produced. Irrespective of whether Bryant changed his plea or not the DPP/Police still had to prove Bryant’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Between 28 April 1996 and 16 November 1996, three days before Bryant’s third court appearance the best the police could ‘find', using according to the DPP, “special techniques” was a dodgy DNA sample that was only consistent with that of Bryant but not a match.

Bit of a shame you went all that way and didn't actually find the location of the memorial at the broad arrow cafe. There is a beautiful reflection pool and shrine. You can even walk through the ruins of the cafe. Where you were standing and saying the tragedy occurred behind you, it was actually in front of you by 100 metres or so, just through the trees. The "memorial" you show is just a graveyard. Anyone interested in seeing the actual location can find images on google maps.

There always were restrictions, weren't there? Category H has had some amendments to it, semi autos are off the table to recreational shooters, as are pump action shotguns (why?), but Australia has had pretty strict firearms laws dating back to the 20's. They just weren't particularly well policed as Australians aren't exactly known for running around willy nilly and shooting one another. There was a rifle/shotgun or both in every third house when I was a kid. There was an air rifle in every second house! We just didn't shoot each other.
As for AR 15's, they were really expensive and few and far between. Who had those things? Oh well, I voted for Howard in '96 and I've never voted Liberal since.

IF only America followed Australia's lead & banned guns like us. I realise it wouldn't stop the mass amount of killings in the U.S....but it sure would decrease the amount of deaths. We have never had another mass shooting like Port Arthur's...since our Govt bought in the new gun laws. God Bless the victims & their families. Its one of Australia's darkest days & one where all of us Aussies like myself, will never forget...& remember where they were at the time we first heard the horrible news 😪

If America followed our Nanny State idiocy and also confiscated lawfully purchased property, they’d be joining us on the “Highway to Hell” of totalitarian tyranny. Oh and Australia has been oh so safe since 1996. Ever watched Underbelly? This is to John Howard’s eternal shame, and I admire him for his other achievements. PLUS, the “Nannies” didn’t stop at semi-automatic and pump action firearms. Here in the “People’s Republic of Victoria, they subsequently banned cross bows, swords and knives. You risk arrest even taking a bait knife on your fishing expedition!!!!

@@thefunstuff6121 Fun Fact: A 2015 Federal Senate inquiry concluded that 99.5% of shootings in Australia were committed by unlicensed shooters in possession of illegal firearms.

@@thefunstuff6121 you’re right that it doesn’t stop imported firearms (or 3d printed ones), but it’s a bunch of extra layers that bolster public safety. I think guns are an important tool, and shit do i think they’re a lot of fun. but i think that having the access locked behind a list of genuine reasons to obtain, firearm categories, safe storage requirements, and background checks is such a good system that keeps gun possession a privilege and keeps them in the hands of the right people (for the most part)

I was completely unaware that there was even a conspiracy surrounding this mass event. But just from your short video and governments past displays of dishonesty; im not curious to look further into this theory.

That guns aren't banned, just more restricted than they used to be.

Look at the rules. Unless you live in the bush or are prepared to be an active member of a gun club (with mandatory attendance requirements), you can’t have a gun. Practically, for city people, they are banned.

This is a rabbit hole that is so deep. No one is getting anywhere near the bottom of it, until everyone who personally cares about it is long gone. The courts made sure of that, by sealing the information for 70 years.

I live on the Tasman Peninsula, and the half arsed way you approached this sensitive topic is very poor form. Just rolling in to town, unresearched and sticking your camera in workers faces. All of the community was adversely affected by this for years, some still to this day. Don't come back.
