I'm from Singapore and I lived for 2 years in Canberra as an international student. Loved the tranquility of Canberra and the built environment was good enough. Went back to Canberra recently for a few days of holiday.

Recent Canberran expat here I can confirm that Sydney although objectively worse in certain aspects (poorer public infrastructure, heavy traffic, crime, hsc) I have felt much more happier. I think Canberra has things a bit too good(?) there are no big goals to reach for, or aspiration to strive for in Canberra. Everywhere looks the same. Everyone works for the aps wether u only finished year 12 or you graduated first class honours. Everyone’s happy to do the bare minimum to get by. content with settling for a mediocre Job, mediocre social life in a mediocre city. All the people with real passion and zeal for life have already left Canberra to seek better opportunities. My take
