We have been going here for 20 years. The best Tortillas, Burritos, and nicest people. So sad to hear of Señora Grace's passing. Very Heart Breaking. Such a sweet woman.
Raised in the barrio.... Grew up and lived next to the owner... My grandmother use to send me to the market when I was younger to buy tortillas, salsa and queso fresco. Anita's market is such an amazing place to get the best food!!!!
Love that she wanted to turn in the direction of making tortillas rather then sell tobacco and beer, the pace and lines form now for her idea! So good of her.
I love the Anita Street market. A wonderful hidden Tucson treasure. Yum, yum!!! I just read more and learned of Senora Grace's passing. Much respect and prayers for she and her family.
Pati, I was enjoying your video on my favorite burrito 🌯 which is the machaca burrito and I read the comments here about the terrible news. My condolences to Grace Soto’s family and friends. I hope to some day soon visit Tucson. Blessings to all and stay safe
I absolutely love your show on PBS it makes my day and love seeing all the places you visit especially, "La rica comida mexicana!" So glad I found you on YT, just subscribed!
Hello Patti, I just saw your video on a small restaurant Anita's...I live in Tucson I was just surprised that you visited our city..I just love your videos.🤗
My family has been going to Anita’s since well before I was born. When I was little I’d hang out a bit with the kids who would be watching tv around the corner of the register. Grace was the absolute sweetest.
Tucson is on my list to visit this year woot woot, can wait for my vacation!!! I’ve only been to Phoenix in Arizona and they had really good Mexican food and salsas!
My daughter went to ASDB (deaf/blind school) just a few blocks from here. I wish I knew about this place back then. That burrito looks so delicious!!🤤🤤🤤
Thank you for posting this. I am very glad to find a place that makes true Sonoran tortillas de harina. We live very near the border and used to get ours from Naco. Now that the Covid thing has made the border crossing difficult, we need another source. This may be it.
God, I miss home 😍 23 miles of Mexican food, the Sonoran influence over the food, a retirement community & college town. I make it a point to visit a few times every year.
Wonderful video pati I love your recipes, The first time I saw you on Paula Dean back in the early 2004 or something I loved you. Keep making more videos.
Buenos Dias Pati. If you haven't already, would it be something in your purview to do a video about "The Valley of the Moon"? Thank you for shining light on the wonderful things in Tucson. Be safe
I remember when I was little and my mom brought me to her parents/my grandparents house, mi abuela would breakout her ingredients for her homemade flour tortillas. She'd give me a piece of dough to play with, then I eventually learned to helped her. Oh how I remembered how wonderful her kitchen smelled! Will forever Love and miss her... But these tortillas- Wow! Look just as big as my tires of my car! I so want to visit this place!
Mexican food and culture here for me is having a family that I love and feel completely at home with. Try also Casa Molina on Speedway and Wilmot. It is a very homey place to be with excellent Chicken Tortilla Soup.
I'm tearing up seeing this! It's been too long since I've been there😭 I am biased, since my Mother's family is from Barrio Anita💖, BEST TORTILLAS IN TUCSON!💖🙏 My Condolences to the Family of Señora Grace. Thank You for this video, Patí!
Sobaqueras are just what a flour tortilla for burritos are supposed to be for those of us who grew up in Southern Arizona or Northern Sonora. As a kid growing up in Douglas my big family would go to the Coney Island restaurant which made the best burritos, chimichangas and cheese crisps using them.
My condolence to the family. I’m from New Mexico and I would go buy the cottage cheese tortillas they were so delicious. I’m gonna miss her when I go down there. 🙏🏽❤️
Hi Mrs Patti! Love to watch your cooking show that you bring to us on youtube! I and my husband adore you! You are such an amazing cook on youtube tv . You make it look so easy! Thank you for all your tips in cooking! I love spanish food 🥑!!!! Well nice chatting with you hope you and your family have a wonderful day 😊 oh by the way Happy New year and God bless you always!!!! Your fan Judy Hernandez
I am a Tucsonan born and raised. I remember my mom taking me here once when I was a kid and I have thought about this place ever since; wishing I could find it again and go back. My mom could never remember where I was talking about. I am very saddened to hear that Grace passed away. I still wish to go back. Is it still operating? Edit: I am so sad to hear she passed from covid. That is absolutely tragic to lose anyone from this horrible sickness. Her market is still running. I will go there as soon as I get back from visiting Phoenix.
Been living in tucson for over 20 years gonna take my nana here once my stomach feels better sovacera tortillas are gonna take her back too her old days when she used to make them as a cocinera for our home town people
Native american's been making tortillas like that forever but all done by hand no machines or rolling pins and thrown on an open fire....love your video though condolences to the family. Santa Rosa is also another great place to eat in Tucson.
Love this place, I'm so sad to hear of Señora Grace's passing,May she rest in peace. On another note my mother loves your show so much Pati, thanks for all the entertainment you provide for her:) any chance you can shout-out for Rose?
We still need another show from you. It would be called, "On The Road With Pati Jinich." That is where you travel around the country, visiting Mexican, and other Spanish restaurants, trying their top dishes. Especially, ones that may have been put a spin on.
Pati, where do you live in the US? I married an incredible woman from Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico. She is incredible in the kitchen! We live in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. We get to Tucson once in a while. We will try it the next time we're in Tucson. Love your TV show!
I love this city it's great. But I will say I work outside everyday here and the weather isn't always perfect. It can get to like the mid 100's everyday for weeks.
They have the best handmade tortillas de harina and chorizo you can find in Tucson; also de chorizo con huevo burritos are very delicious. The last time I was there ( about 2 months ago ) the store was open, but you cannot go inside; you order thru the fence. So sad to hear about Señora Grace Soto passing from Covid at age 80 my deepest condolences to her family ♥
RIP this place has the best breakfast burrito ive ever had in Tucson in my entire 27 years living here so far. Every local I've talked to that is familiar with Anitas will always praise it to no end. If you find yourself in Tucson it would be a crime if you didn't stop by this place to at least pick up a pack or tortillas! Please check it out if you havent yet :) and i forgive the Took-sawn thing :P
Tucson is wonderful, Bisbee is one of the most beautiful places with the best weather in the world. Tucson is not 16 miles from the Mexican Nogales border, it is closer to 70. If you visit Arizona, Bisbee and Jerome will be the most beautiful places you can see up there with Sedona & the Canyon. Back in the day, Chicago, San Francisco and Bisbee were the 3 biggest cities in the US. AZ will teach Taco Bell isn't Mexican food.
Tucson Az no está a 16 millas de la frontera, son más o menos 75 millas de la línea divisoria entre Mexico y USA el bello barrio Anita yo compraba frutas en pickle juice muy buenas con saluditos mi Tucson del alma😍
So sad she seems like a real sweetheart. I’m a trucker and I wanted to get a load to Tucson just to get one of her burritos. Wasn’t able to pull it off.sad

My heart breaks 💔
Super sad. You know when you see an old senora come out of the kitchen, you’re about to EAT. Tucson has lost a legend.
My town! Love it here!
We're having a six hour Pati marathon today on Dallas PBS. The grapes and peanuts tarte looks so good.

So sad she passed away. I grew up eating the tortillas and food there. I still bring dozens of them when I go back home.
Many thanks for sharing this wonderful video. I hope you had a chance to travel down the road to Nogales also?
This would be great for breakfast or brunch. I can see myself going to Tuscon for it.

Tucson native here! So lucky to be a part of such a beautiful, cultural city!
Not a native but I drove in 33 years ago, saw my first AZ sunset and never left.
Mexican food and culture here for me is having a family that I love and feel completely at home with. Try also Casa Molina on Speedway and Wilmot. It is a very homey place to be with excellent Chicken Tortilla Soup.

I buy tortillas from Tucson the bomb
Reminder to self,
do not watch Pati Jinich's videos while you're on a fast.
Just like southern California kinda looks like San Diego
Not to mention the Tamales!!
Ok I'm hungry now 😫
RIP Grace
Que rico. 😋
❤
Y yo sin saber de esta Gemma en Tucson . Lo que es ser uno de su hogar .
Machaca burrito in freshly hand made tortilla. Forget about it!!
Tucson the home of the Sonoran hotdog!
The beautiful lady and her husband put the Barrio Anita on the map of Tucson Arizona not the gangs they made history by Lil Man
The c is pronounced as an s not a hard c or k sound.
Probably depends what side of town you’re on...
Nope. Definitely not only 16 miles from the Mexico border. Not even close. 70 miles.
