When I was a kid, Hunter Mountain in NY held cultural festivals, and at the Native American festival there were Indian tacos - more the soft fry bread with taco toppings and oh! Amazing. I am now in my 40's and can still taste them though I haven't had the pleasure of having one since then.
I cannot believe this! I was just telling my mom a couple weeks ago that I miss Eegees so bad! I was craving them like crazy and have been for months. I’m 53 and have not eaten there since I was 17. They had one by our house but it closed down. I watch this and find out there are still some around here. Not super close…but they are here!!!🥰💕❤️ If you are ever in N Scottsdale… Papis Tacos….so good.
I love Sonoran hot dogs!!! If you're ever up in Chandler, stop by Moreno's for a good Sonoran hot dog. Which restaurant in Tucson received the James Beard award? I'm embarrassed to tell you I haven't made it to Eegees in Gilbert yet. I'll make a trip over there soon.
I live in Tucson. The guy from El Guero Canelo who invented the Sonoran Hot Dog, is currently very ill and in the hospital. :-( You didn't cover pozole, menudo or nopales (cactus) which are part of the the cuisine here.
Perfect timing for this as we're headed down for Spring Training. On those day's off we've talked about heading south to the Tucson area.
