Great idea and very nice effect! I might make two changes for my own layouts... offset the 2x4 tiles by 2 studs (ie. 2x2, 2x4, ..., 2x4, 2x2) so that cross-walks line up, and use unprinted 8x16 roadplates so that I can move the tram track into the middle (European style). Thanks!
Nice but it looks like the first train that rolled though would take out every vehicle in the lane next to the track lol. You need to move the tracks one row over away from the lane to give enough room. great job all the dame though. :-)
This is awesome. I use this system in my display too allthough for a small freightyard but at the same time at the other side some greenery and space for bicycles and pedestrians
Great tips, my son and i are going to start our own little city soon, we're gonna do more of a fantasy mixed with reality scene so we will need roads that look real like this, i can't wait lol, my son is just getting old enough where he likes Legos and i think i get more excited then he does haha
Are you going to add this to your website or no because if this was on instructions it would be wayyyyy easier Or you can ask them to make this a Lego set
On the first sight really attractive looking street but then I could not blend out gaps between plates. All looks to me rather a bit clunky that was not the case in the previous plate system. The other think is that one needs to winden the street with additional bricks to make it usable for the current vehicle lineup. In my opinion it is just sad. On the good side my vintage like 6693 or 6645 sets are actually still good for this width ;)
Very nice solution. I was looking for this tutorial on your website, but the only one i could find, looks different. Are there 2 different instructions of Lego City Road to buy on your website? Do you have a direct link?
hey..I am trying to find that special road tile 16x16, but can't find it anywhere...can someone advise the name of that piece? or a link or something? thanks
electricity traveling through the track, only the motor through induction loops carrying the current, you might just also do a basic rubber wheel under-above-powerline train
Great video im new to this im attempting to build a city with my son , do you have a video using the same size baseplate with the tracks running directly in the center of the baseplate?
The new road system may have its drawbacks but this shows definitely its great strenghts. It opens the streets to so much potential creativity instead of being stuck with a rigid print template.
So, the roadplates are already higher than the sidewalks for modulars and now that you made the road plates even higher (baseplate + 2x4 tiles below, what did you do to compensate for that with your modular buildings. They look higher. Overall 1000% stoked to use this method in my city, just not sure how you raised your buildings up. Thanks for making such a brilliant video and keep it up!
@@AFOLTV Hmmm or maybe build the modular on 2 "baseplates" from strictly bricks that you showed in another video?...I am so rebuilding my modular buildings 1st floor to use the strickly bricks "Baseplates" Keep up the great work, love all your stuff. Just brilliant work!
Hi, new here!! Great system, and it looks awesome. I will be upgrading my city to this, but need to know if you try already with the curve tracks and how to deal with that. Thanks.
Love this! How could this be incorporated into MILS? Specifically, if one were looking to make a road that is 8 studs wide or so for Speed Champions cars?
I really think there needs to be a better solution to the road edge marking than free floating pieces on their side, I’ve seen this a few different peoples videos so I assume it is the best solution at the moment but I really don’t like it.
@@AFOLTV I think it more bugs me because Lego created this fancy new road system, but didn’t supply a solution for this. Or at least a ‘real’ solution.
Great video(s)! But I'm actually joining many others with the question about curved tracks building-in. It looks like this questions has never been answered :))
I just don't think it's possible to do neatly. You can do curves with the new roads, you can do nicely ballasted train curves, combining them not so much
This kinf of new options for different types of road with new road system is great, like your great street with track. But I am still not convince of buying and using new road systems.... I just cannot stand the ugly ZigZag shape of the biggest part... I don't know... I still think, make a road with classic tiles would looks better. I know about the value/money... But still, cannot help myself, new road system looks like Junior Lego... Maybe, AFOL community can make it works, as you show us, but this is big MINUS for Lego from me...
The problem I’m having is how do you instal a Switch Track without ballasting the track? This system works great until you want to add a switch while keeping it even with road. You’d have to put 2x plates under the road plate then the curbs become 1 plate high rather then two and everything gets screwed up. If anybody can explain to me how to add Train Track Switch into a mil plate while keeping road even with track and 1x plate under road plate I’d much appreciate it, thanks.
