Nice to see the pavement tiles for train curves in action. I can't wait when they (normally & hopefully) release it in DBG & for narrow gauge curves. About the one flaw they have, let them know. They like the feedback. I use their products too (only because LEGO doesn't make them) & they welcome any feedback. Great work on the city overall. Always excited to see the progress.
Since this layout looks pretty North American, I would suggest a solid yellow line next to the median on both sides to signify opposite lanes of traffic. Just a small cool detail👍👍
Yellow line isn't needed at all. What I would do (and it's more European), is making 2 railway tracks (tramways in both directions), and only 1 lane for cars in each direction. B.t.w. this layout is beautiful!
@@AFOLTV I know about coloured lines in Ontario, Canada. I understand that most states are nearly identical. Even in places where there is no opposing traffic like freeway on-ramps or divided highways, the line that denotes the leftmost edge of driveable pavement (in this direction, not including the shoulder) is yellow and the line that denotes the same on the right is white. Dashed white lines separate lanes. Arrows are painted behind the stop-bar at intersections for lanes that must turn left or right.
This looks awesome. I love the train layout, it is really blended in the city and not just lying next/around to the city. Also the curve looks awesome. I esspecially really like that curved wall. The bike path is indeed far too narrow. I guess it's mainly Dutch people (like me) who are picky on that :).
Thank you! And haha all good, we will be expanding the width as it goes further back into the city, but had to keep it two studs wide for the intersection area.
What would look really good is if you did a Lego tramway sometime with fully tiled over tracks! Of course the main challenge would be trying to tile over switching points or separating them from the road! :)
This is cool, rewatched the last video yesterday and started thinking about how you would fill in curved tracks this morning, spent half the day today doing some mock-ups in studio 2 and posted 6 versions literally 10 minutes before your video went live so it was a fun surprise to see this today.
I love it when i get a message of AFTOL TV having uploaded! The only downside is that its so short. I could watch for hours to your videos! keep it up!
The rails look pretty good! I understand the flaws with the off-brand pieces, but I think it's worth it. It really completes the look of the railroad and the overall infrastructure.
Great update!!! I am definitely going to buy some of those tiled curve track pieces for my city. Thanks for letting us know about them! Maybe you could add some small rocks and dark green tiles on the track for some fallen leaves and loose gravel. One last thing, do you have a tutorial for the palm trees? Thanks!
I have a vintage Lego train motor and tracks The motor is like a standard battery box you see now, but with 2 wires. Also has some funky cart wheels on it. It looks stupid But I bet it works, just need do some tweaking and fixing and it will be running
Lets just say that LEGO will make their own pieces when needed. So I see no problem with using other methods from those who have figured something out.
Might be worth trying furniture polish on the bottom side of the 3d-printed bricks that don't grip? Mostly it's acrylic based and it adds a very thin layer to increase the friction.
you can heat up the printed curve parts to bend them to become flat. Hot Water is an option, or a powerful Hairdryer. hotair gun quickly is going too hot.
I don't mind using 3rd party pieces specifically made for Lego builds where there's simply no other alternative. It's a lot better than painting/cutting pieces to lenght.
@@AFOLTV There are some 3rd party products, that Lego officially recognized, as they are specific parts, that they dont produce, but are a useful addition for some creators...
Beautiful layout. The worst mistake Lego ever made was to discontinue the 9V rails. Imagine what Lego could do with constant 9V on the rails feeding a power functions system. It'd be like DCC in the model railroad world.
From what I've seen, Trixbrix usually first releases 3d-printed parts as a product pilot, and then, depending on the demand, they are making the injection molded version of it. So big thanks for you for naming the company, hopefully more creators will use their products giving them more money for extending their product catalog!
Good point! It would be great if they rolled out an official injection-moulded version, we'd happily replace the current system they have. It's a great first edition.
Idk whats so special about this 3d printed curved tiles but for the ones who couldn't find the "curved train track tile product" you can always sand down some tile and superglue them together and it will probably look much more better. If you are not allergic to 3rd party parts, you probably ok with cutting sanding and gluing original parts too.
What I would personally do if I would run into the same issue with the 3D printed parts is to glue them to off brand plates that are LEGO compatible, so that they would fit better and stay in place (Because I would never glue real LEGO). But great job so far!
Do you guys have blue tack in the US? On the odd occasions I've used 3D printed elements that are loose I've found a small dot of blue tack on top of each real stud and a good hard thumb press on top of the element solves the issue without resorting to a permanent adhesive.
Love your content! Thanks for the updates! Just my personal opinion but I think the freeway sign right in the middle of the city like that is a little ugly.
3D printing is fine for prototyping, but for production? that is just stupid. It is much much slowed, more costly, less accurate and way more fragile. And i would highly suggest staying clear of such crap. Heck, and that price you might even be able to get it printed from print-services with better quality.

Finally! Someone sayin something about turning something European to North American!

Do you have a link to the website ?
There should definitely be a couple of tram stops throughout the city, and one small tram depot/barn
Yep we have a few planned!
@@AFOLTV and in the new area there should be a small baseball stadium, there's not enough of them in LEGO cities
Since this layout looks pretty North American, I would suggest a solid yellow line next to the median on both sides to signify opposite lanes of traffic. Just a small cool detail👍👍
Good idea if there isn’t a median separating, otherwise it isn’t needed!
@@AFOLTV i cannot tell if you are thanking him or you are angry

Gotta love those shiny reflective roads!
Love the palm trees. They add the perfect greenery to the city.
Great updates recently. Amazing curved design. Keep it up AFOL TV !
Thank you!!
That looks amazing. Great train track. Really cool palm tree.
Thank you!

Wow! Amazing job! I cant wait for how the crossing Will Look in the next video!
great update as usual
Appreciate it!
Great video! I love your city!

Hahah thank you! We could honestly film for hours too, but RUclips wouldn't like that as much 😜
@@AFOLTV haha yeah
Looking great keep up the great work pulling a ton of inspiration out of your guys work. ♥
Glad to hear that!
These get better and better every time man. Nice job.
Ah appreciate it!
Oh that's supposed to be a bike path! :D
I'd agree, it looks way too narrow. I wouldn't wanna bike on that.
Great progress so far and looks super. Keep on bricking it up.
Thanks Brick Sgt!
The curved railway crossing looks good.
I've seen some of these roads & tracks before, crazy ones indeed.
Yeah, wanted to watch the curve stuff
The Lego city you made looks AMAZING! keep you the good work i am inspired to try to make my own.
Thank you! Glad you like it!
the rail curve looks really good
That curved track rally does look great. Third party design for the win.
The rails look pretty good! I understand the flaws with the off-brand pieces, but I think it's worth it. It really completes the look of the railroad and the overall infrastructure.
Couldn’t agree more! I think it’s the best solution on the market right now 🙌🏼
Thats a pretty cool rail road nice job!
Thank you very much!
I think a highway overpass above the train tracks would took so good

Wooowww looks so good, wish I had the money to do this
I think that the airport sign's style would fit better above a high way. I think if it'd be on a singular pole above the road it'd look better.
The new city is looking even more modern than the last one looks great
Thank you!
Very cool but you should add small pebble to the rail
you can heat up the printed curve parts to bend them to become flat. Hot Water is an option, or a powerful Hairdryer. hotair gun quickly is going too hot.

Agreed! We used to be purists, but sometimes you have to look for alternative solutions until LEGO comes out with their own version.
@@AFOLTV There are some 3rd party products, that Lego officially recognized, as they are specific parts, that they dont produce, but are a useful addition for some creators...
lego gotta make a special road plate peice for normal parking, we really only have parallel parking

Wow, what a great idea! Hadn't thought of this, but this is brilliant.... time to order some fake LEGO 😂
idk if this was covered in an earlier episode, but how was the intersection between the road and train track done?

How do you guys get that many road plates when the limit per household is 3?
Nice video. Who is “we”. Do you have a team working on this?
His fiance
That bike lane turn is so tight 😭
We may make a curve, tight on space tho unfortunately
The 9V tracks are more enviorment friendly, why did they ever add batteries!
G'day AFOL, I have a question, why are you not adding Trams nor monorails to your New City?
We are… just not yet, getting the layout figured out first 😎
Seems legit
I was wondering if you guys could a commuter train or something like metra?
We are working on some new trains 😏
I plan on building a city but dont have much money. Any tips?

how did you make the afol airport highway sign? and is it a sticker or just glued onto the lego?
Free tutorial on our channel :)
Noice
Thanks
Nice city but why doesn't the train have a engine
The city looks nice, but I wouldn't want 3d printed parts myself.
Why is the crosswalk sign facing the pedestrians and not the cars?
Fixed it haha
4:28 is it a set?
these new LEGO streets looks weird
How does Lego come out with this new road plate system without any curves at all??
Some of this new Lego stuff has been poorly thought out
21 euro’s is not a lot man, especialy if you think about te design proces behind al of the 3D printing
Love your content! Thanks for the updates! Just my personal opinion but I think the freeway sign right in the middle of the city like that is a little ugly.
All good - we may end up moving it, but playing around with placement for now
You could choose any kind of road you could and you chose a stroad
Bruh.... they're LEGO...
@@AFOLTV I didn't notice
i'm surrpized theer's not some other way to cover a train track curve.
WTF u are using the new Streets? XD
As a "Not Just Bikes" fan that bike lane makes me cringe

Spreading the word or helping the channel by buying instructions on www.afolstore.com ! Thank you!

Why hate batteris
But, but, crosswalk sign is for drivers not pedestrians 🤨
Fixed it haha
No curves in the new street system. What a massive LEGO fail.
Hoping they release some soon
u build everything by yourself. i dont get it why you use the ugly roads then
The New roads from Lego dont Look good. Espacially the constant plates in beteween

God the new Lego road system looks soooooooo damn awful...
you actually use these new terrible lego roads that are just made to be bigger money grabs? sad.
Yes. They are far superior than the old roads. Try making a level train crossing with the old baseplates….
